The day was cold and dreary. It was the kind of day that would make most people just want to stay in bed. But Sire had somewhere to go. Something to do. Something that he should have done a long, long time ago. Clouds were gathering in the distance, and the faint purring of thunder made the sky shiver, the lightning illuming the night as if it were the middle of the afternoon. From horrible, to worse. But that didn't matter anymore. Not here, not now.
Without him, Sire was lost. Without him, he had no guidance. Without him, he was nothing but a ball and chain to his own soul. So what was he supposed to do? He remembered the first time Dragon had taken him to this place, this forest:

"Sire, look around you - look up. See the bark of the trees? The small plants on the ground over there? ALL of these plants can be used for something."

"Really, dad? Is this where you get your med'cine?"

"Not exactly, kiddo. But this is where it comes from - not THIS per se, but plants. Plants are the source for a lot of things I use to help people."

"I wanna know this stuff too, daddy!"

"You will Sire... One day. When you're old enough to study."

"Awww, dad!"

Tears gathered in Sire's eyes again, unbidden, and he paused in his walking to lean against a tree, his forehead against the rough bark. Gods he missed him. Why did he have to leave him?

"You left me... Too soon, dad... Too soon."

He whispered under his breath, squeezing his eyes tightly shut as a few tears trickled down his cheeks, starting to mix with the slowly falling rain as it now picked up speed.

"Why couldn't you have used these plants to save yourself..."

Sire knew that he couldn't have - or he would have. He started to sob in earnest, choking back the tears that didn't fall, shoulders shaking. Nothing matter to him right now - Not Yani. Not Jade. Not even little Ava. All he wanted was the only one that had cared enough about him to raise him. His father.
And he knew, with a sinking heart and a feeling as if his soul was being sucked into oblivion, that no comforting hand was going to pat his shoulder this time.

"I love you Sire, you know that, right?"

"Of course! I'm your son, you're my dad! We'll always be together, so how can you help but love me?"

"Is that what Aaron told you to tell me?"

"Uhh... yeah... But you'll always be here, so it's right, right?"

"Sire... I won't ALWAYS be here, son. Someday... Someday I'm going to have to leave you... and I can't stop that, no matter how much I want to, kiddo."

"You knew, dad. You knew you were dying."

Sire muttered, sinking to his knees, and turning to sit against the treebark.

"You knew. And you didn't tell us. Probably because... because we wouldn't have believed you anyway. At least, I wouldn't have."

He closed his eyes again, and clutched what he had brought with him tightly in his palm. An herb-collecting kit that Aaron had dug up. Sire was going to show his father he knew what was what... But that was before...
He opened his eyes, and glanced down at the kit, opening it in the next moment, and glancing into its contents. A sharp blade, a collecting bag, some twist-ties and labels. A sharp...

He paused as it dawned on him. A sharp blade. Sharp enough...

He closed his eyes, and looked down at the blade, picking it up, and holding it aloft, and watching it glint in the flash of lighting as the storm grew worse.
He could. End it. Get out of everyone's life. Out of everyone's hair. Make his amends to Aadil this way. Make his amends to everyone. He'd pretty much been nothing but a.... but a burden.
And maybe.... Maybe he'd see his.... his dad... again.

He thought, but he already knew the choice was made before he sat down to cradle the blade in his lap and think of the repercussions. Dragon was dead. Jade was too busy with Ava, and Yani... never really cared much about him anyway. Silver wouldn't know - he was off somewhere... doing something. Traning. He hadn't talked to his old friend in forever. He missed him. Naia hated him. Anen was still scared of him or something, and Aadil and Nyoka.... well, he'd lost all chance to get along with them. All chance to get along with anyone, really.

His eyes grew determined. He gripped the blade handle firmly in his hand, and set the edge against his wrist.

"Cut up or down, not across. Thanks for the warning, Aaron."

He murmured to himself, as he gritted his teeth, and slid the keen blade down one arm, following the line of the vein. That done, and already dizzy from pain, he did the same with the other wrist.

Weak. Painful, but now...
He was just weak.

He flopped back against the bark of the tree, blade falling from limp fingers, his blood staining the muddy earth underneath him reddish brown.

He was cold - so cold. So tired.

He sighed, and his head lolled forward, eyes closing. He could feel his own breathing faltering, but he wasn't gone yet.

Now... he just had to wait.

"Something's wrong. Somethings wrong big time" He dashed through the woods, wings folded tightly, crouched slightly and leaning forward to allow his legs to propel him along at top speed, using his tail for balance, his claws digging into the soft earth to get a better grip. Then it hit his nose, the smell of blood. Lots of blood, skidding a little, he followed his nose, barely dodging out of the way of trees before skidding to a halt in the small clearing, not believing his eyes. No, It couldn't be. He wasn't that stupid, was he? Dropping to his knees, silver reached out one forepaw, touching Sire's face, almost hesitant, and then, all of a sudden, slapping him, hard. "Dammit sire! What where you thinking! WHY!"

Sire's voice was weak, soft, fading.

"S...S...il..ver?"

He wasn't supposed to have known, dammit... He wasn't supposed to have known...
He opened his eyes, and a blurry, wavering image of his old friend greeted him. He realized belatedly, that he was shivering, shaking all over. His skin had gone very nearly white.

He was so tired... He mouthed Silver's name again.

"I...I'm....s...or...ry...."
PostPosted: Mon Aug 15, 2005 6:40 pm

Tears leaking out of his eye, Silver grabbed at sire's elbow, trying in vain to stop the blood flow, knowing unconciously that it was already to late, but not knowing what else to do, he did it anyways. "Dammit!" Using his free hand, he tried to wipe away the tears, but they just kept coming. There was just so much blood. It was staining his fur a dark red, almost a black color

Sire's pale - almost gray - lips quirked into a soft, sad smile. He mouthed "love you" - not having the strength to say it.

They say your life flashes before your eyes just before death. It wasn't like that for Sire. All he saw was Silver's concerned and worried face, heard Aadil's words of hate. Heard Naia's rejection - and suddenly felt himself lifted up.

Dragon stood there, smiling, and glowing a soft golden color. He held out his hand, angelic wings spread behind him.

"Come on, Son... Let's go home."

Sire nodded, and stood, falling into Dragon's arms, and sobbing his eyes out in grief and blessed relief both. Dragon's fingers ran through his hair softly, and he kissed the top of his son's head, gently.

"I love you, Sire. I understand. But I love you regardless. I'll never leave you - not anymore."

Sire curled into Dragon's chest, and shook with sobs, before looking up to his father with tearstained eyes, and smiling, starting to glow as well. His moth-wings became those of a dove, and his eyes shifted blue, pupiless, like his father's.

"I love you, dad..."

He looked back at Silver, and smiled gently at him, before turning away from life, and walking with his father's hand in his own, into the brightest light he'd ever seen - going home.

Sire's physical body grew paler and paler. Soon it was a sickly white-gray. His pulse slowed, started to falter like his breathing.
Sire Prince Arrikanez let out his last breath within the next few moments, slumping forward against his old friend, Silver Wolfenbrother. His breath was silent, and his pulse was still. Soon, the blood slowed to a trickle, then stopped oozing out completely.

Sire was gone. Forever.

Holding the shell of what had been his friend in his arms, Silver through back his head, letting out a howl, tears pouring down his face. The howl went on and on, sounding like something primal venting all of its sadness, all of its rage at fate. At the same time, the building storm broke in a torrental downfall, lightning and thunder tearing across the night sky, as if nature grieved the passing of the boy.Slowly standing, still holding Sire's body, he started walking, blind behind the tears, letting his feet lead him to the one place he knew he could find a measure of solace, and find a way to put his friend to rest.

FAREWELLS

These posts have been moved here from the HQ so that they are easier to find for reference sake and so that people who would like to continue RPing Sire's Wake are able to do so without being interrupted by the normal HQ banter.

SILVER

David Wolfenbrother
The storm outside had not abated a bit, and the rain was coming down in sheets. Slowly, the door of the HQ creeked open, showing silver standing there, holding something, or someone in his arms, eye completely gone, as if his body was there, but he wasn't. Ducking in the door, the light inside revealed that he was holding Sire, or what had been sire. His skin was a pale, ashen grey, and he was completely limp. Up the inside of his left arm was a long cut, following the Vein. Stumbling a little, as if he was on autopilot, Silver walked to the table, sweeping off whatever was on it, gently laying sire on it, aranging his hands over his chest, before dropping to his knees, sobbing into his arms, seemingly blind to the world around him.

David Wolfenbrother
Silver sat on his knees, staring at the body of his friend, tears still streaming from his eye. Taking up the small, sharp knife that had claimed the life of his friend, he lifted it before his eye, and quickly, before he could think about it, made a cut along his cheek, below the black marking there, wincing a little, and conciously forcing his body to stop the healing enough to leave a faint, pale scar where the fur on his face was lighter then the rest. Chanting lightly under his breath, he closed his eye, singing the song in his soul, the song of passing he had sung for his clan, all those years ago, back when the world was young.

AYLANA

Krista DarkAngel

Aylana landed outside Fa'e, she knew something had happened. Just before getting ready for work the angel necklace from so long ago, the one that was to hold him close to her stopped glowing. It had never happen before and she felt cold on the inside.

Pushing her hair from her face she wrapped her wings around her body to keep the rain from falling over her clothes as she push the door to Fa'e open. She breathed hard holding the necklace close to her chest. She onl hope that the worse hadn't happen.

She looked at Silver shaking body, then to the one laying there, she tried to breath, but it seem no air could get to her lungs. Shaking her head she blinked the tears away. He didn't do it, this was another dream toa her.

She moved slowly, heading towards Silver and Sire's body. Reaching out she touched Silver's shoulder. "Si...lver...." she was looking down at Sire, she was shaking trying hard not to cry.

David Wolfenbrother
Silver looked up, trying to blink away the tears, and just clung to Aylana, sobbing, not able to stand up, and not caring who saw the breakdown. The tears flowed like the rain outside. Looking up, Silver tried to stand from the seat he was in, falling back into it, still crying.

"I, I was too late, I failed, again." He dropped his face into his hand, his entire body racked with sobs, his ears drooping as far down as they would go, his fur slicked down everywhere it could be seen in sadness.

Krista DarkAngel
Aylana held him close breathing slowly, she knew she had to be the strong one even though inside she was cold. She made a promise to Sire so long ago. And she failed him because she wasn't around to help him when he needed it.

Brushing at Silver's hair she looked at Sire face then closed her eyes as a single tear fell. She shook her head then open her eyes looking at Sire again "I'm so sorry...Sire..."

She stepped away from Silver then stood near Sire, she touched his cheek, her hand warm against his cold skin. He was one of the few who understood her when she couldn't. Now he was gone and so much she give her life if he could come back. She let the tears at that point fall.

David Wolfenbrother
Silver just stared off into space, and slowly closed his eye, forcing himself to stand, and walk over to where the clipboard was that listed all the fae and their addresses. He slowly ran one finger down the list, copying down some addresses and numbers, fighting back the tears, and then going over and holding Aylana as she cried, not able to do anything more in the current situation.

Krista DarkAngel
Aylana didn't even notice that Silver was holding her, she just kept looking at Sire. More than anything she was angry that she wasn't there for him like she promised. Taking the necklace she was still holding she took Sire's hands in her as she place the necklace down on his chest then his hands over the necklace. "Sire I'll always be with you, even in death, as you will be with me..."

She legs gave way and she fell to the floor crying hard, her whole body shaking. She couldn't hold it back now. She layed her head on the table near his body just letting the tears fall as she looked at her friend.

David Wolfenbrother
Draping a blanket over Aylana's shoulders to keep out the chill, he walked back to the couch, sitting down, staring down at his own two hands, wondering if he could keep this up. If he lived forever, he would watch those close to him die, over and over through the ages. But he would have to be strong. Someone had to be the rock to shelter the younger ones behind, the rock to cling to in times of trouble.

Krista DarkAngel
Aylana once she was sure she could stand she leaned over and kissed Sire's forehead. Her last tear landed on his cheek as she pulled away, she knew Sire would want her to be strong. Looking at him she kissed her finger then pressed them to his cold lips.

Stepping away she she looked at Silver, she couldn't say anything. Walking over she touched his cheek then leaning down she kissed his toredhead before stepping away. She didn't even wait for Silver response as she ran out of Fa'e and took off into the air heading from Fa'e.

David Wolfenbrother
Raising his hand to aylana, he stayed quiet, just watching her go. Looking down, he returned to the chair next to sire's body, sitting a silent virgil, lost in his thoughts, a stray tear here and there.

DEVMANI

David Wolfenbrother
Silver hadn't moved from his position, other then to bring up his knees, wrapping his arms, and his wings around himself, Sitting a silent virgil over Sire. The tears had stopped for the moment, if only because he had no more tears.

Draconayzia
Devi wandered into HQ. He hadn't visited in a long while. There was little reason for him to now, but it was a location.

He stopped inside the door, seeing Silver's haunched frame. "Silver? What's.... dear Lady of Night." He could only stare at Sire's body. He had memories, faint but good of the fa'e from when he was younger. Seeing the body he wished he could have known him better as the chance was forever snatched away.

Walking up quietly behind Silver he laid a hand on his shoulder, voice quiet as a whisper in the silence. "Silver? What happened?"

David Wolfenbrother
"He, he took his own life." Silver's voice was low and husky from all the crying he'd been doing. "I was too late when i found him. Too late to help, like usual. I had to watch him pass on." He droped his face down onto his knees, tears welling up in his eye again, burning the cut he had slashed across his cheek. He didn't have the energy to sob anymore, but his shoulders did shake slightly as he cried those few tears he had left.

Draconayzia
"Atleast he wasn't alone. That would have been the true tragedy. But you were there, and he knew someone cared, correct?'

He kept his hand on Silver's shoulder, feeling the sting of tears in his own eyes as he gazed down at the fallen fa'e. "I knew so little of you. But what I knew was good, thank you."

David Wolfenbrother
Nodding a little, silver used one hand to scrub at his eye, trying to get rid of the tears that were there. Shaking his head, he rested his chin on his knees, gazing at Sire's body. "I've got to make the arrangements tommorow, and get ahold of people." He closed his eye, his arms tightening around his legs. "He's with Dragon now. I can't tell you how I know it, but I do. Just a feeling."

Draconayzia
"His guardian? Then it's right, regardless of how it happened. Being stuck between would be far worse, never moving forward or back. But if he's with someone who loves him and truely misses him then it's only us who are hurting. We may yet see him again someday."

His hand squeezed the wolf's shoulder, the best gesture of support he could give. More memories kept coming back and he remembered the six-legged horse he'd been given. Prince. He was and still is a fine companion. You'll be remembered. That will make you immortal on both planes, won't it?

David Wolfenbrother
Nodding a little, Silver stood up, and went to the kitchen, coming back with a bottle of Wiskey, and a glass. Filling the glass, he raised it. "To Sire, may he be happy wherever he is, and find the peace and happyness that is owed to him." Downing the contents of the glass, he set down again, sighing, ears hanging low as his fur slicked down, his entire body conveying sadness.

Draconayzia
Taking a bit of effort he managed to find a relatively comfortable way to sit on the floor, making him mostly level with the wolf. "Do you want any help arranging things? I didn't know him as well as you did, but he gave me a valueable friend and companion. It's the least I owe him."

David Wolfenbrother
Nodding a little, Silver looked up at the ceiling. "I need to talk to Riven and Shina as well. I know from a comment he made once that people are cremated on Juridia, where His guardian came from. I figure he'd want to have the same done for his own." He looked down at his hands again and sighed, going quiet.

Draconayzia
"Ok. Do you know what way?" He was trying to be as supporting as possible, but he'd never known anyone to die before. Not in this life.

David Wolfenbrother
"No clue." Silver went quiet again, head resting on his knees, forcing himself to be strong. He had to be. Someone had to support the rest of the fa'e somehow.

Draconayzia
"Then I'll get the tinder, if that's alright. The only creamtions I remember are from my last life adn they're fuzzy at best. I think Mumm will know of a few seeing as that's how her kind honored the dead too. Just let me know hos I can help."

He hesitated a moment and then gave Silver a breif hug. He had fallen out of habit of doing such things as he'd grown. Now though it was needed.

David Wolfenbrother
Nodding, Silver returned the hug. "I will Devi. I'm going to be here standing Virgil for the rest of the night." He sat back in the chair, bringing his knees back up to his chest, hugging them tight, wings wrapping around him, as if creating a shield of razorsharp metal between himself and the world.

Draconayzia
"You know the number, right? You've been over enough times with that Prom thing. I'll see if someone can bring some stuff up for you when I go back. For now though, staying here seems right."

He stayed nearby, content to keep vigil with Silver. There was a hollow feeling in him he didn't know what to do about. The boy looked his age as he had when Devi was younger. He had been kind to him. "The world makes cruel mockeries of us at times, and others we have to do an atrocity to achieve liberty. I forget who said that."

David Wolfenbrother
"Truer then I ever hope you have to find out Devi. I hope you never have to stare into the abyss of blackness that hides in the night." Silver stared off into the distance, lost in his own thought, looking at the rune that was glowing on the back of his right hand, shaking his head a little, lightly touching the bloodstained fur. "I'll be fine without anything. And yeah, I know the number. As you said, been over there enough from the prom plannings and such." Silver, sighed, and dug a cellphone out of a pouch, calling home to Sati to let her know that he wasn't going to be home tonight. "I don't think I could sleep tonight even if I wanted to. To many memories, both old and new."

Draconayzia
"I know what you mean. I've never had someone I know die before. It's odd, like there's a hollow that I knowI 'll never fill even though I know I'll try."

He sighed softly, going over to the bar in the corner and pulling out a bottle of scotch and a shot glass. "Here, drink as many toasts to him as you like. I'd join but if nothing else I've read about centaurs in the past is that liquor is never a good thing for us. Take what you want. I'll be honoring him in my way. I have an arrow to craft for him. It's a sign of respect, to place an arrow made for the individual with them as they go."

David Wolfenbrother
Silver shook his head. "Won't help. I can't get drunk. So I can't even seek solace in the oblivion of the bottle." He took a drink of the scotch straight from the bottle, setting it on the table and staring up at the light.

Draconayzia
Devi actually chuckled a bit and gave a half grin. "Wasn't meaning for you to. Just offering a way for you to honor him with the toasting tradition. I've never drank and I don't intend to learn over the body of someone that as best was a friend, at worst was an aquaintance I should have gotten to know better while I had the time."

David Wolfenbrother
Silver smiled a little. "I know what you meant Devi. Sides, I can't run. I've got to be stronger then that, and face things head on." Raising the bottle, he toasted in his own mind, taking another drink, setting down the bottle with a sigh, and going quiet, eye closed.

Draconayzia
"Hey, put your wings aside for a bit. I'll get you a blanket and a few other things, alright? Just trust me a little bit."

He got up, walking out the door fo HQ for a moment and returning with some roots and herbs in his hands.

David Wolfenbrother
While devi was gone, silvers wings glowed, and flowed into their original form, his heavy blade, which he set on the floor. Opening his eye, he shook his head, touching the scar on his cheek.

Draconayzia
He just smashed up the herbs and started boiling water. A tea that was used to help calm and steady. "It may not work, but it might help you celm down a bit."

He set the mug infront of Silver and then threw a light blanket over his back. Sometimes a comforting pressure that a blnket gave was more neeeded than the actual warmth. "I"ll stay for now. Keep you company."

He settled on his feet by the table, keeping watch with the wolf.

David Wolfenbrother
Silver nodded, sipping the tea. "Thank you Devi. It helps to have someone here with me." He shook his head, sighing again, and raising the cup of tea in toast to Devi before sipping it again, staying quiet, contemplating the past and the future.

SATI

David Wolfenbrother
Silver was sitting in the same place he had been all night, his legs curled up against his chest, hugging them tight to himself, a blanket draped over his shoulders as he kept a silent virgil over his friends body, staring at the wall on the far side of the hq from where he was at.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati tugged absently on her hair, walking swiftly up the path towards the HQ. The phonecall she had gotten from Silver had roused her from sleep, and she had fallen back into slumber given her befuddled state. In the morning she had replayed the answer phone which had caught the whole thing and dressed hurriedly. What was going on that Silver could not make it home? At least he had called this time, she thought as she pushed the door open.
'Silver?' she called softly, looking around the HQ...and then she saw the body on the table.
'What..?' she uttered, confused at the image she was seeing.

David Wolfenbrother
Rousing out of the semi trance he was in, Silver looked over at Sati, his eye red from all the crying he had done. When he finally spoke, his voice was hoarse and rough. "H, he took his own life. Last night, when i went to go practice, I found him, but it was too late, he was to far gone. He passed away in my arms." He dropped his face to his knees, unable to go on, his ears drooping in sadness.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati leant over the table, looking down at Sire; it had been a long while since she had seen the djinn Fa'e but she recognised him instantly - which was unfortunate as she was hoping that it wasnt truely one of the Fa'e lying here. She touched his cold, cold cheek softly with one finger and closed her eyes. She reached for the kaustuba gem, holding it and gently searching, looking for a glimmer of soul...but nothing.
'Really gone..' she said softly. She looked over as Silver spoke.
'I am sorry my love...' she looked down at Sire.
'No more pain..' Sati bent, whispering in Sire's right ear;
'Aum Namasivaya Sivaya Nama Aum
Aum Namo Bhagavate Rudraya Namah
Aum Hreem Gum Glaum Mahaganapatayei Namaha .'

She stood again and went over to Silver, stroking his back when she was at his side.

David Wolfenbrother
His eye shut tight, Silver hugged his legs closer to his body. He wanted to cry, but he couldn't. His body didn't have anymore tears left to shed, so he reverted to the only form of expressing his sorrow he had left. Throwing back his head, he let out a long, mournful howl, expressing all of his sorrow, his pain there.

Sayuri_Nitta
Sati let him howl, just gently holding him and looked over at Sire...had it been so long since she last saw him that things had gotten to the point in his life where that had been the only option? She shut her eyes and shook her head a little.

David Wolfenbrother
He just wrapped his arms around Sati, holding her close, head resting on her shoulder. "I, I'm sorry love, but i've got to take care of this and see him to his final rest." He stood slightly, arms around Sati still, shaking his head, forcing himself to be the strong one, the strong rock in the river that is chaos.

Sayuri_Nitta
'Don't apologise my love.' Sati held him tightly.
'When is...the funeral?' she asked gently.

David Wolfenbrother
"I, I don't know yet. But soon." Silver shook his head. "He needs to be laid to rest soon. Before the week is over I think. I just have to get ahold of some people to arrange things." Sighing a little, he held sati close, fighting back his sorrow and pain.

Sayuri_Nitta

'Will you be moving Sire before then? So many people pass through here..it just seems he should lie in state somewhere more private.' Sati stroked through Silver's hair, planting a soft kiss on his head.

David Wolfenbrother

Nodding his head, and closing his eye again, Silver held her close. "I was planning to, but last night, I just didn't know where else to go, what else to do." Kneeling slightly, he took the blanket laying over the chair, and wrapped Sire's body in it, as if it was a funeral shroud, and lightly lifted him, nodding to Sati. "Love, could you do a favor for me and get ahold of Shina? I need to talk to her, and to Riven." He bowed his head, chanting lightly under his breath, a suplication to the spirits of sorrow. "I'm going to transport him to his final resting place." Walking out the door, his sword glowing and reforming as his wings, he took to the sky, heading out into the woods, to a place only known by a few.

Sayuri_Nitta
'I will try and get hold of her yes,' she said. Sati followed him to the door, watching him wing away before leaving herself, her head bowed in thought.

Silver carried Sire's body, dressed in its best clothing, out to the bier of arromantic wood, and laid him on its surface, adjusting his arms so that his hands rested on his chest. The cut on his forearm was hidden by the long sleaves of the shirt, and the body was being kept in its pristine and alive looking state by a spell from David. He sighed, and sat down in one of the chairs spread around the clearing, looking around at the table with drinks and small snacks, the chairs, and the lanterns waiting to be lit, and waited for more fa'e to arrive.

Yani had found his way there...god knows how because Jade was no where to be seen...his hands clutching the note sent to their home on Sire's behalf. He hadn't read it himself, being physically unable to, but Jade had read it outloud, not knowing right away what the note pertained to. The blonde refused to read the rest of it, having slumped back in an armchair with her face paler than her fa'e son's fur. There was too much death for her to deal with. Facing the wake right now was the last thing she could do.

So, now Yani was there in her place, which was only right for he is, or was Sire's stepbrother. He wasn't wearing anything special. That just wasn't in his nature. He hung apprehensively back, hearing Silver's movements not too far away, and clenched the note into a ball in his fist.

A small figure stepped into the clearing, looking around almost hesitantly. Omi was quiet and subdued, far from her normal laughing nature. When she saw the beir, she headed towards it, nervously fidgeting with the flower held in her hand.

It wasn't much... a single rose that she'd plucked from Youko's garden before they'd left. A few moments later, the fox stepped up behind her, resting a hand on her shoulder. "Go on, Mushiko," he whispered, handing her the flower that he'd brought as well. Youko had known Sire... had helped tend to him once when he'd been badly hurt and had welcomed the boy into his home.

Omi, however, hadn't met him. But even she knew the impact of one of her 'kind' dying. Stepping forward, she knelt in the grass near the beir, setting the flowers with crossed stems beside it. As Youko moved to kneel beside her, he brought out a small bag from his belt and removed a bowl, wrapped in a plastic bag. It was filled with white grains... and it was impossible to tell if it was sand or salt. As he set the bowl down, he handed Nozomi a small stick of incense.

The girl seemed to know what to do then, and took up the lighter that had also been in the bag. She lit her own, then held the flame to the stick Youko was holding, keeping it there until a thin stream of smoke drifted upward from each one.

The two moved in unison then, placing the sticks upright in the bowl. When that was done, they brought their hands before them, a soft 'clap' heard before they closed their eyes and bowed their heads forward in what seemed to be silent prayer.

Silver stood, and slowly padded over to yani, and just pulled him into a hug, not saying anything, but just being supporting in his own way. Pulling back a little, he took Yani's hand. "Do you want to say your goodbyes first, or would you prefer to sit for a while?"

"I...I don't even know what to do," Yani said, ears folding back after Silver had said his piece. "I never really...I don't know." He looked frustrated, though his eyes glimmered with tears. His heart hurt more than he thought it could ever. Dragon's wake and funeral were bad, but really, Yanisin had less of an attachment to the dark haired man. At least he and Sire had understood each other. There was an actual BOND there.

"No one knew until today at my house...we had assumed he went on his way to perhaps see the rest of his family. If I had known...IF I HAD KNOWN THIS was going to happen," he hissed, again clenching the ball of paper as a tear finally trickled down his cheek. "I would have NEVER have let him leave. EVER."

"I know Yani, I know." Silver just pulled Yani into another hug, making a soft, crooning noise to comfort him. "I know all too well. Maybe if i'd gotten there sooner, maybe if i'd spent more time in his presence. Maybe, Maybe, Maybe. Their's some nights where the Maybe's are all I can think about. I tried calling your house as soon as it happened, but I couldn't get anyone." He turned a little, nodding to Yoko and Omi, his ears drooping in grief as he held the deerfae close

"We were probably out at dinner...or something. I don't remember," he said absently in a mumble, his smaller, more slender form all but lost in Silver's embrace. "It doesn't matter. He's gone...would have been gone when you called."

He sighed, pulling himself away from Silver, and rubbed at his face with the back of a hand, angry at so many things that he couldn't even explain right then if he wanted. He almost wanted to hit Silver, as irrational as it sounded. Just...something. ANYTHING to give him relief.

"Mum couldn't come. She wanted to, but...well, you know. She's almost afraid to leave the house for fear of anything happening to her or Ava...would be the luck of the family, I suppose." His words were bitter, his expression growing hard again though his eyes ruined the total effect because they couldn't focus.

Youko and Nozomi didn't seem to notice, but the fox's tail swished once behind him as if in greeting. The two remained with their heads bowed, lips moving in unison although no noise emerged.

((Japanese prayer for the dead. They'll be there for a bit.))
