Now. I know I'm not the best at this but this is just, well, the basics. Personally, I think it's basically off your imagination and it's pretty easy adding detail but there are those who have one-liners (I know. I get them too) and it's very very hard to make a reply post to those. So here I am! Trying to help you lengthen your posts a little and make you a better Roleplayer! Heck, that's what this Academy is for!

Off to the rules:

o1. I am the teacher. Therefore, you listen to me ^^
o2. Follow the guild's rules. All of them.
o3. Don't post until I say so. I don't want it to get all messed up.

A list on what could be well... Used? xD
Basics then I'll elaborate it in the following posts, kapeesh~? ^^
OKAY!

What does your character feel?
What does he/she think?
What is he/she wearing?
What's around the character?
What does he feel emotionally?
How about physically?
What's the weather like?
Where is he/she?

And Etcetera~!

You can actually add a lot more questions to that buut that'll be for the next few posts ^^

The easy part. When you're stuck on detail, just picture you're actually in your character's body and look at the world like that. Of course, different kinds of characters have different ways but we'll go onto that later. In this post, I shall help with your imagination by the use of the 5 senses!

SIGHT: This can be anything, really, but it really will have to depend on where your character is. Picture it in your head, the place, the things around and type it out! If you're stuck with it then make a drawing! Of course, it doesn't need to be pretty/detailed. It can be like little boxes or circles representing where things are... Yeah, you still need to use your imagination for what the things look like but hey, that's what RPing's about, right?

HEARING: Only a few people really includes this in their posts. I don't, that's for sure but Imma try from now on! Let's see... Here are a few that you can include:

  • Animal's sounds
  • Or the deafening silence
  • Your character's own voice
  • The sounds your charie makes whilst walking

And many more~!

TOUCH: This is a bit easy to include. Say, your character's lying down. What does the bed feel like? Or when your character's forced to sleep on the ground. What does it feel? Yeah, something like that

SMELL: Depends on where you are, this one. If you're in a... Say, classroom. You know, I really don't know what you smell in a classroom so yeah. Or in a bakery shop. There're those really delicious smells as if you can taste them ^^ So yeah. Like that.

TASTE: This isn't really needed unless you have food. Food... Uweeh, I want pocky now > 3<

-cough- Back to topic. Oh wait. I think I'm done with this bit.

Woot, next post time o 3o

A p p e a r a n c e

This is fairly easy. Notice your intro posts? Yeah, this is where this comes in. Your intro posts are basically those that well... Introduce your character. After that, you don't really need to keep on going on how your character looks like in every post. We get it.

Another thing. Don't just go on telling people something like:

Her hair was green and her eyes were also green.

No. It's pretty much alright but it would be better if you go something like:

Overlooking the school, atop the rooftop was a young girl. Her long, green hair was blowing in the wind, the ribbon positioned at the back of her head that held it swaying to the breeze. If one had been there with her at that moment, they would see the sadness clearly reflected in those emerald green eyes of hers.

See what I mean? It's much more interesting to read ^^

Now onto the clothes~!
First off, it'll be much better if you picture what your character is wearing *nod nod*
That or you draw it or find a picture then well... Type it down~!
Something like this. Give a picture and possibly elaborate it and such ^^

Example:

Quote:
"Waa, I need to change, too!" she said, and immediately scanned the dummies for a blue dress. Hey, she loved the color. Plus, she wasn't big on fashion. Finding a good blue/white one, she immediately changed in the dressing room. A few accessories were there so she put up a silver ribbon in her hair, as well.

Straightening her dress some, she walked out and looked around. Her dress wasn't much. A light blue sleeveless dress hung down to her thighs, white cloth extending it towards her knees. Laces adorned the edges of the blue dress on the bottom, top and at the long sleeves which was somewhat past her wrist. A white ribbon was tied to her back, sandals of the same color of silver, though not high for she hated those things, were on her feet.

L o c a t i o n

We're done with your character woot o 3o
Okay, not really, but at least what your charie looks like ^^

Now... Location~!
This is very much important for the people you're RPing with. If you don't elaborate what the place looks like then the person or people will find it hard to know what to do next.

Bad example:

He walked down the hall and stopped in front of a door. He then turned the handle and walked toward the end of the table.

Seriously, who can make a reply post to THAT? Do you realize how hard it was to actually type that? o.O
So yeah. Instead of that you do :

Adrien walked down the narrow hallway, soon stopping in front of grand double doors. Turning the golden handles, he found himself in the dining room, wherein a long, wooden dining table stood, chairs lining up at the sides and one on each end. A silver chandelier was positioned overhead as the many butlers and maids went here and there, welcoming their master.

Now then. That's much better, isn't it? ^^

T h o u g h t s

This is realllyy important. Seriously. If you think that if you add what your character is thinking in a post that the other person will take advantage of it then you thought wrong. That is, unless the person you're RPing with is a complete n00b.

Now then. This is basically very easy. Just type out what your character thinks about what the other person did. Every RPer would include this, really. If you look back at your posts you'll realize your charie actually does some thinking in every post ^^

Ah, another thing. When you're changing your character's feelings/thoughts then make sure your charie's face also changes. Say for example:

She was annoyed to wit's end as she cleaned those dusty trophies, her furrowed eyebrows showing her irritated mood. 'Make sure you clean them right' was what they said. Oh pssh, what idiotic teachers she had. All Kia did was stick a frog inside her Math teacher's cup. His fault for embarrassing her in front of the entire class.

Then she heard him. Turning around, she looked to see a brown-haired boy, much her age and much like her. Kia's face lit up, her hazel eyes sparkling with glee as she faced her twin brother.

See how Kia's face changed as her mood changed from irritated to glee? Yesh, that's what you do xD

Ah, the basics of RPing. Even if you're stuck in writer's block you can still have some sort of action. Let's see... If your character's sitting in the dining room, waiting for her meal, then put some action in it! Say, if they're irritated, make them clank their spoons on their plates or pound their fists on the table like a little kid.

Or something D:

You don't have to follow everything, just a few tips here and there, okie? ^^
Ah, and I thought it'll be fun if you give new words for people to use :3
So yeah.
Bring in those words~! xD
