Clábar Mountain

Located in the north-west Clábar Mountain is the highest point of Dacaiana. Only the very strong-willed live here because of it's odd weather patterns and shortage of prey-beasts. Clábar has been around since Dacaian's creation, though it did not start out as such a high and fearsome mountain. Towards Clábar's peak sits a dormant volcano known as Deo et Rege, an old saying which has something to do with gods. Few wolves travel this way but those that do can brag of making it to the top of this mountain; boast that they are the bravest of the brave.

Setting
Towards the bottom of the mountain Feileadh Woods sits, and weather is most stable at the bottom. Many trees are planted up the mountain side toward the beginning, always they are thin and tall. They grow in all kinds of weather. As the mountain gets higher and higher many cliffs and steep, almost-impassable areas appear. These cliffs offer amazing views for those wolves which can get to them though!

Also toward the middle of the mountain lies a chain of caves and tunnels, though no wolf has remembrance of what or who made those caves. They think that the caves have been there from the very beginning though and are a part of the mountain as much as their coats are a part of themselves. At the top of the mountain where Deo et Rege lay it is very dusty and dry (unless of course the rains have already come) and is usually hot, even when it is snowing!

Clábar has much to offer scenery-wise and weather-wise, but it is always random.

Weather
Clábar Mountain holds many mysteries, it's weather being one of them. Often the mountain fluctuates between snow and scorching heat but it has been known to rain for many days at a time as well. The snow rarely sticks to the mountain side, not even toward the peak. The weather, no matter what season it is, never seems to stay the same for longer than ten days at a time.

Snows range from flurries to storms, some days leaving the air chilled and other days leaving the air with a thick coating of white through it, making it almost impossible for wolves to see anywhere in front them. Again, snow does not stick to the mountain. Many wolves speculate that it is because of the volcano deep within, keeping the mountain warm.

Droughts do not last long, usually anywhere from two days to eleven days. The sun seems to bake the mountain alive and perhaps the volcano adds to this heat, but it's a very bad idea to travel on the mountain while droughts are in session.

Rains usually come quickly and poor hard, leaving the rocky cliffs slick and more dangerous than before. The rain is usually coming down so hard and fast wolves find themselves seeking shelter wherever they can find it. Though not all rains are so short and harsh, rarely there can be a chain of drizzling for five days in a row, covering the mountain in a soft mist.

Calms; the least likely of the weather patterns to occur! Wolves have discovered that sometimes through the weird weather patterns a calm comes, the wolves have named it this because it seems to follow the weather patterns of all of Dacaian's Land, rather than just the mountain. For some unknown reason calms are more prominent during the spring and autumn seasons.

Prey Animals
Wolves will be hard pressed to find a meal on these lands. Not many animals like the mountains because of how quickly and randomly the weather changes. Also the odd weather keeps a lot of vegetation growing, which obviously effects the chain of prey and predator. Some of the animals wolves do find to eat are as follows:

    ° Ibex
    ° Pika
    ° Lizards

Sometimes other prey do find their way into the mountain territory but the main three are listed above. Ibex are probably the biggest treat for any of the mountain dwelling wolves.

    Ibex
Most active during the early morning and late afternoon, lying in the shade of rocks during midday. These ibex are strong jumpers and sure-footed climbers, which allows them to move with ease in their mountainous home. They can move up and down the mountain with ease, which lets them less worried about the constant-changing weather.

    Pika
Also known as a 'rock rabbit' or 'coney'. Pikas look very simular to hamsters but they are in the rabbit family. Though they are most used to cold weather they are still found on Clábar Mountain. They live in family groups and are easy to spot running through the caves and tunnels of the mountain, though not too deeply into them. They love coming out of hiding whenever snow comes to the mountain.

    Lizards
Probably the most common prey of the three... and the least tasty. Lizards come small and large in the mountains and are usuaully found toward the base. Some of the smaller ones live near the top, especially close to Deo et Rege, loving the heat the dormant volcano provides.

Chain of Caves

All through out Deo et Rege caves appear. The only caves wolves can access from the outside of the mountain (don't ask me how they'd get into the inside of the mountain to find some of the more... rare... caves) are resting toward the middle of Deo et Rege. Most caves are linked together through tunnels but it is like entering into a huge, complex and dark maze! Wolves should be wary of entering the caves, sometimes they never come out.

Some caves, it is rumored at least, sit on the 'edge' of the mountain but have no surface entrance. These caves are said to only be accessible through the inside of the mountain from a secret tunnel. Wolves have determined there are only two ways to get to this tunnel, going through the top of the mountain (very unwise) or digging up from under the mountain! Which would be hard for a wolf to do. Anyhow either way is a risk because their might not be a tunnel at either end of the mountain anyways!

Still... it is rumored that great treasures lie within...

Deo et Rege

Deo et Rege is the volcano that sits nestled at the top of Clábar Mountain! When wolves make it up to this place they truly have accomplished a great feat and have something to brag about! Though the volcano is dormant wolves are still weary when around it, lately rumbles can be heard from deep with in the earth.

No trees grow at the tippy-top of the mountain because of how hot it is, Deo et Rege gives and gives and gives all of it's heat away! Truly the place is an outdoor oven, the air being both hot and dry.
