Many people believe that poetry is hard, takes lots of work, needs a genies behind the pen, an english or literature degree or a god given talent.
That is not true.
Many people explain poetry as an art. Art is a natural flow of things. It comes naturaly to people as we speak, move, act. That is why people dont write it, they dont understand this concept of flow.
Poems do not have to rhyme or be writen in any way other than your own. Every poem is like its own person: priceless, like no other and different in its own exsposive way.

Poetry is a portal to your mind and soul.
The pen and paper are merely tools, methods of organizing the madness.
The key to poetry is write honestly and from experience.
Also, while form is usually broken and/or mangled, it is often best to start of
following pre-set rules in order to coherently convey your voice.
Other than that, just "be yourself" and all will work out.
