Name:Mugen Nickname: None Text Color: Dark RedParents: N/A Mate: N/A Likes:Sake, food, women, fighting, money. In whatever order they''re available. Or all together. Dislikes:Being hungry, boredom, clingy chicks, authority. Personality: Impulsive to the point of recklessness, Mugen isn't a 'thinking ahead' kind of a guy. His generally relaxed demeanor (which could justifiably be described as 'lazy') hides a quick temper and an equally quick capacity for violence. He'd be just as happy to beat someone up because they were opressing another as if he was simply bored. He can't abide being told what to do. The best way to get him not to do something is to tell him to do it, and vice versa. Beneath his tough exterior is .. well .. a tough interior. But somewhere lurking beneath that is an Anubii that will fight as fiercly to defend his friends as himself. The trick is not writing him off as impossible before he decides he likes you. Mugen's personal quote? I'm all appetite.Abilities: .. Past: ..

Ever reluctant to discuss his past, Mugen isn't forthcoming with anything connecting him with it, pictures included. Given his way, he'd have people believe the way he looks today is the only way he's ever looked. Ah, but these things rarely work out our way, do they Mugen? Across the shifting sands we receive a glimpse into our jackal's past...

A lone wolf ...er... lone Anubii, Mugen claims no family or friends. ~ Acquaintances ~Chakai - Mugen met Chakai shortly after he arrived at Anubii Temple. Their relationship thus far has been based on a mutual interest in insulting the other.

~ Luminous Imp's Prizes ~To begin - thank you so much all who entered the contest and especially to those who drew my characters! It was overwhelming to see how many people actually wanted to draw my girls (and puppy)! It also made choosing the winners amongst you all very difficult. So difficult, in fact, that I ended up adding a couple of categories, and adding a few honorable mentions to drawings I just loved for one reason or another. I'll start with the new categories. 3nodding ~ Funniest ~ Blue_Rei_Drops ~ Thank you letter for January 2006 ~ This cute little entry prompted a funniest category for my girls all by itself. The idea combined with the cuteness of it all and the very idea of them going to a cat con and the person in the back in the HK plushie suit just cracked me up. Poor Isis. xd Great entry! ~ Best Lil' Isis ~ Blood_Merry ~ Mochi the Puppy ~ Once I saw all the great entries we were getting with Isis in her 'child' shell, I started to think she deserved her own category. I certainly never thoght there'd be so many of her. ^^;; This entry impressed me in a lot of ways. Not only is the soft coloring and composition beautiful, it's like Bloody_Merry yanked my mental image of Isis in her little shell right out of my head. This is particularly impressive when you consider the only reference image for the character was a funny doodle Dante did of her. But the look here is perfect, the composition is perfect - feel sorry for poor Loki! Great job! ~ Cutest ~ Only Dust ~ October 2005, November 2005 and March 2006 Thank you letters ~ Now this was a hard category for me to pick a winner in. I admit, Niamh does sort of lend herself to being drawing doing cute things or wearing cute things, given her love of 'cute'. And then there were so many adorbale little Isis entires as well. What's a Lumi to do? This entry, I think, did a great job of combining Niamh's love for all things Sanrio(TM) and her natural ability to use the 'big sad eyes' to get what she wants, making it not only cute but very accurate. She'd have a suit like that in an instant if she could figure out where to buy one. xd Excellent piece! ~ Cutest Honorable Mention ~ Fighting Spirit ~ Thank you letter for January 2007 A sweet little entry with Ni in a flirty pose. I love the face in this one the most; cute little wink, cute little smile, cute little blush and biiiiig shiny eye. Adorable. heart ~ Best Odin ~ The-Shocker ~ Thank you letter for March 2005 ~ Unifex (and probably Dante) can confirm that I luff my little Odin, even if he's a fictional character. I often walk around the house saying "Odinodinodinodin" when he comes up. So happy puppy was an important category for me. 3nodding This entry did a great job of of capturing his general floofiness and big ears, but also his happy, playful spirit. Charging around the yard at top speed with his squeaky toy (probably trying to hid it from Loki) is one of his favorite things to do. *snuggles her Odinpuppy* ^__^ ~ Best Outfit ~ Secondhand Serenade ~ Thank you letter for January 2005 ~ I intitially thought Ni's best outfit picture would have to be something very purple but this entry proved me wrong. Not only is it super cute and more than a little revealing - both very 'Niamhish' aspects - but the level of detail worked in is wonderful. Necklaces, scars, tattoo - excellent! And those shoes are adorable. whee ~ Sexiest ~ Bloody_Merry ~ Goti Clips, Fox Ears and Fox Tail ~ Hawt. Again, composition and characterization are right on. This is something that happens on a daily basis at the Temple. xd Also ... haaaaaawt. Sexiest Honorable Mention ~ Midori Yume ~ Thank you letter for January 2007 ~ I particularly enjoyed this entry because, while it's both cute and sexy, it also has a certain innocence to it that is also a very Niamh-ish quality. Sure, she looks like a tart a lot of the time, and this kind of outfit is the type of thing she'd leave the house in (or attempt to leave the house in, only to be stopped by Loki >.> ), but it isn't because she wants everything hanging out on purpose. Half the time - more than half - she doesn't really realize what she's wearing is as revealing as, well, as this is. Plus that bra is adorable. whee ~ Best Single Character ~ Serasan ~ 125,000 pure gold ~ I had quite the dilemma trying to pick a best single character picture. There were soooo many good ones. But when I considered artistry combined with who best captured the spirit of the character, Serasan's Isis entry floated to the top. The simple black and white look complements Isis' personality, as does the pose. I love the serious expression, and Isis is certainly as likely to be seen with a gun as Niamh is to be seen with a plushie. xd And the outfit, while revealing, fits the character as well; it's definitely the kind of thing Isis would wear for freedom of movement without realizing people might be eyeing her buff abs. Great job! ~ Best Pair ~ Inu-Mitsu ~ 250,000 pure gold ~ This beautiful entry is not only technically very well done and completely adorable, but captures both of the characters extremely well. Again, the details and costuming are very accurate, and the characterizations (Lumi's favorite thing! ^^;; ) are dead on. I can look at this and imagine wherever it is Ni's trying to drag poor Isis off to, and Isis hoping her nutty sister doesn't pull her over in her exuberance. I think it's a good example of showing how similar they are in appearance and, at the same time, how different they are in personality. Thank you for your hard work!

~ Dante & Lumi's Joint Prizes ~When we were first organizing this contest, we knew that we'd need a joint area since Loki and Niamh have sort of become an integral part of one another's story. Some of our favorite submissions ended up being ones depicting their happy (strange) little love story and it's only fitting they be acknowledged here. ~ Most Romantic ~ tandemonium ~ Thank you letter for March 2004 ~ Lumi says: What's that? Lone girl takes on giant, bloodthirsty monster isn't romantic? Of course it is! If Niamh didn't really, really love Loki, she sure as heck wouldn't be going out to the yard in the dark to patch up Aries when he could easily knock her head off without thinking about it. But somewhere under all that fur and anger, she knows Loki's gonna wake up and be in pain and when it happens, she needs to be there. tandemonium did an excellent job of capturing this indecision - help or flee - and the drawing itself is just beautiful. Excellent work!Dante says: What a great setting! The colors set a perfect mood for this event. Very clever job keeping the background simple but descriptive. Some people might not think of it as a romantic moment, but it really really is. Risking life and limb to patch up a gigantic werewolf because he's really the man you love? Makes me see hearts and roses.~ Best Evening Wear ~ Inu-Mitsu ~ Thank you letter for October 2004 ~ Lumi says: I've been in love with this entry for some time now. It's actually the background on my cell phone at the moment. xd Niamh and Loki look so happy (and *cough*sexy*cough*) out on the dance floor. Inu did a great job designing a dress for Ni as well - definitely something she'd want to wear. Wonderful job!Dante says: Before I saw this piece I never would have imagined putting Loki in red. But wow.. he and Niamh look fantastic. The design on their outfits is probably my favorite aspect of this drawing, but their poses and layout complete it and make for a great finished work.~ Cutest Loki and Little Isis ~ buta-chan ~ Thank you letter for March 2005 ~ Lumi says: Speaking of images I'm already using, this one is the background on the laptop as I type this. xd It was love at first sight for this one; very very much in character for both of them (well, all of them if we count poor Odin!). It's a very good interpretation of Loki's relationship with Isis when she was small as well, and by now we should all know Lumi's a sucker for accurate characterization. Much love for this entry!Dante says: I was surprised by the number of storytime drawings we got. Surprised and delighted! Seeing Loki once he's gotten past being defensive and uncomfortable around little Isis is really fun. He's so into the story (love the story, btw) and you can tell Isis is really captivated. Poor Odin!

~ Best Group Entry Prizes ~We were so pleased to see that people wanted to draw our characters in groups! It's a big undertaking to draw a single OC, let alone a great big collection of them, especially to get all the details down. But a lot of entries did just that and we had a hard time narrowing the down to three winners. But we had to in the end, and I think you'll agree these entries are certainly worthy of their prizes! ~ 2nd Runner Up ~ Claire Voyant ~ Thank you letter for August 2004 ~ Lumi says: OMIGOD. Laugh at this every single time I see it. Castore's expression especially cracks me up but they're all so wonderful. Simple and to the point, but you can tell she thought about every characters' personality. And Victor's kissy lips. whee CJ says: This is just adorable. That's about it folks.Unifex says: Wow, those guys are the cutest ever! smile Dante says: HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE. ZOMG. I still can't look at this and not giggle. Heth's face.. XD. Lumi and I have had many a conversation over this drawing. Our favorite topic of discussion is why Victor's making eyes at Ren. I'm giggling now just thinking about it. Their little nub bodies help couplete the cute silly look here. A drawing doesn't have to be a complicated masterpiece to be a winner!~ 1st Runner Up ~ Chowder88 ~ Thank you letter for July 2004 ~ Lumi says: Lovely drawing of the girls. This style with the big cute eyes is one of my favorites and I think Chowder did a great job picking an outfit for each of the characters. I'm particularly fond of Ni's outfit, but hey, I'm biased that way. xd CJ says: The girls are looking extra shoujo today! Pretty girls FTW.Unifex says: A very colorful and stylish drawing. I think you captured the girls quite nicely. smile Dante says: The girls! Poor Castore, she's the only one with a normal hair color. XD Very simple, very clean, very cheerful. I like it! Your style is great. It's almost sketchy but not quite. Keep doing what you're doing, cause it looks perfect.~ Best Group Winner ~ Principle ~ Thank you letters for June 2004 & October 2004 ~ Lumi says: Wow, what a knockout drawing. I love the shimmery coloring style and you were dead on adding with a lot of detail. Just gorgeous.CJ says: It's all shiny and s**t. Like a big lightbulb or something.Unifex says: The colors of this drawing are really nice, and I like how you switched the colors in the background to show the connection between Loki and Seth. One detail I especially like is the subtle tatoo on Niamh's hip.Dante says: The hazy soft look on this one is really pleasant. Very bright colors but a very dark setting. Overall it looks wonderful! The half green half purple background and the colors in the hair make the conflict really clear without the need for angry fighting characters.

~ Overall Winners ~That's right! It's the moment we've all been waiting for! The biggest of the big prizes! Are we all on the edge of our seats? o_o Then let's begin! ~ 2nd Runner Up ~ ~ AFK Hat ~ Lumi says: Wow, I love this one so much. The style and coloring have an almost ethereal quality that both suits the Temple environment and the odd nature of the relationship between Seth, Loki and Niamh. And the expressions of the characters are wonderful too; Loki and Niamh all wrapped up in their contentment and poor Seth left out in the background. Excellent entry!CJ says: Paaarrrk. Loki will sleep anywhere man. He doesn't care if the cops come by and haul him off for vagrancy.Unifex says: mrgreen Loki looks pretty happy there, but awww... poor Seth. heh. I like the style and detail of the drawing.Dante says: Another entry with wonderful details and tones. The fact you decided to build a full background is really appreciated and helps make the picture look very nicely finished. I really like the use of color here, where you've put tones of yellow in Niamh's hair and tones of purple in Loki's. Reflected light like that makes the picture jump out and seem very vibrant. Poor Seth.. I wanna run back there and give him a hug.~ 2nd Runner Up ~ Alexandrea Zenne ~ Thank you letter for December 2003 ~ Lumi says: This is gorgeous, and so lifelike. What some people can do with a CG drawing just blows my mind. o_oCJ says: SMOKING. I love this picture because the smoke, once again, just takes over. One day i'm going to get a picture with a cloud wearing a beret, and that will be too much, but for now this sort of thing is right on target. X3 Unifex says: Wow. Very nice drawing! Dante says: Wow.. talk about detail! The texture on this piece really gives it the look of a painting. Great job with the high contrast and the brown tones. I really appreciate realism, especially in a place like Gaia. You don't see much of it in these contests and I'm really happy to have an entry like this one.~ Grand Prize Winner ~ Areve ~ OMG and Thank you letter for January 2004 ~ Lumi says: Holy cow. I never in a million years thought we'd be giving the top prize to a picture of one of my characters. o_o Now, granted, I'm biased because this is my girl here. We're talking 2+ years of roleplaying and serious attachment. But, that said, this piece is just breathtaking. The style, the pose, the outfit - they all fit Niamh perfectly. It's extremely gratifying to see her portrayed accurately by another person, and that someone else would put this much time and effort into drawing a character I created. I love the coloring and the amount of detail. I'm so happy you entered this contest. Thank you so much! heart CJ says: It's very pretty. Niamh's looking quite curvy, without looking too easy, which I like.Unifex says: I really like the style of the drawing. Not only does it capture Niamh's whimsy quite well, but the costume is very nice. I especially like the little details, like the lace design. Well done!Dante says: Here's proof that a picture doesn't have to be complicated to be amazing. the wonderful pose, anatomy and coloring here is so impressive to me. The choices of colors along with the careful design of her costume, right down to the lace detail all creates a really rewarding result. My favorite aspect of the whole piece is her eye. This style really appeals to me and I'm thrilled you entered!
