Everybody has them. Some of us have more vivid ones than others. Some of us can actually control what happens in them. Are you able to tell yourself "You're dreaming, dummy, wake up now!" in the midst of a spooky dream? Can you wake up from a dream, and return to the same dream after falling asleep again? Have you ever been so lost in a dream that you actually thought it was reality? Share! I want to know about your dreams, so I can reassure myself that there's really nothing wrong with my head, lots of people have bizarre dreams just like I do! 4laugh
Do you think your dreams have some basis in reality, do they have some special meaning, or are they just random weirdness with no meaning at all?
Share, comment, analyze, have fun. (:

I'll start off with a pretty funny one. Actually this is a waking dream I had a couple years ago. I've always had more vivid and bizarre dreams when I work nights and sleep during the day. This one in particular happened after I'd worked a graveyard shift (10pm to 7am). I was asleep for maybe two hours when a train went by (I live directly across the street from a railroad track). The trains don't normally bother me anymore, but for some reason, this time it caused me to dream that I was in bed, just as I actually was, but the train had derailed. Not only that, but the derailment was causing the train to fly through the air...heading directly for my apartment. In fact, I was so sure that the train was going to crash through my bedroom wall that I scrambled out of bed, threw all the blankets and pillows on the floor (cuz, you know, I had to make way for the train... rolleyes ) and ran out into the living room. Where I fully woke up, and spent a few moments wondering what I was doing in the living room...then I laughed myself silly for a while, and went back to bed.
xD

I usually have dreams dealing with guys singing to me... cus I listen to music while I sleep... It's really weird when they sing in women's voices...

Share, comment, analyze, have fun. (:Yes. All of the above. But I've also been wondering about this: occasionally I wake up from a dream & check the clock. Next, I fall back asleep (almost immediately). Then later, when I wake up & get out of bed, it is earlier than when I checked the clock! What's up with that!!! Gallo! That's awesome. rofl rofl Triscuit ~ I've had that same train dream. Only I didn't run into the living room; the thing that woke me up was puzzling over how it was that I hadn't died when the train hit the apartment. And why the train was able to skip over the tops of the buildings in between my place and the tracks (just two buildings). I woke up like, "How could that be?!? Oh!!!! I must be dreee-ammm-ming!"

I almost never remember my dreams. The few I do remember tend to be stress-related. A few years ago I had one where I & my family were trying desperately to escape an area and get as far away from it as possible. I looked back and miles away saw a mushroom cloud go up and knew the shockwave was going to get us. That's when I woke up. Recently I had a similar dream--we were on the road (this time it seemed like Britain in the countryside, though) and I knew something bad was about to happen & I was trying to get everybody to get down in the deep ditch by the road. As people were arguing about something I saw a something huge streak down out of the heavy cloud cover and head for the ground a long way off--a meteor or asteroid. It looked about fist-sized from where I was, so it was really big. Everybody did get into the ditch before the shockwave blew across our area like a hurricane. That's when I woke up.

Awww! And in your first reference, was calamity coming to your family? Is that was it means this time? Or is it just the discord of the upcoming holidays not meeting everyone's expectations?
Boy that can be a mushroom cloud all right. Especially around my sister! biggrin

Haha! Well I'm glad to know I'm not the only person terrorized by crazy train dreams. wink

I've had a lot of natural disaster dreams for some reason. Like earthquakes, or most often I dream about volcanoes erupting. The volcano ones are usually pretty scary and involve me trying to get people to evacuate, but nobody ever believes me that a volcano is spewing lava everywhere, and they all die. o_O No idea what that's supposed to mean. But when I dream about earthquakes or tornadoes, they're really fun. Like amusement park rides. xd

I can't remember exactly when I had the atomic attack dream. If it was 2001, that was a crappy, stressful year. I lost my job when the circuit board plant I worked in closed, one of my best friends in the world had her first baby die of SIDS, & of course 9-11 happened right after I got another job in a textile plant (which badly damaged the furniture--and hence the upholstery--industries for months 'cause we were all too shell-shocked to want to buy much)....I AM out of work again now as the textile plant was shut down in May, & more scared & out of options than ever, though I'm in school on a program that lets us get training to look for new work. That's probably why the asteroid dream turned up.

I hope everything works out for the best regarding your career. I was out-of-work for 20 months, but I just got a great job. The very job that I studied for & everything. Just do your best to make your tasks funny & you will perform great! Can / should you work as a temp? Temping can be a great way to try-out different jobs.

I'm in the TAA program--they'll pay for your schooling to learn new job skills while you collect unemployment--but I think it's ONLY while you're unemployed. The tuition, books & any required supplies are paid, plus a dab of gas allowance for getting to & from school. I've got 2 and a half years to get ejumacated in something new. sweatdrop

I think it's connected to NAFTA. If you lose your job due to foreign competition you qualify for the program. It's only been around a couple of years. Lots of people in NC are in it, with the Textile & Furniture industries going overseas. sad

The funny thing is, (if it's not a nightmare xd but a normal dream of sorts), I can usually continue from where I left off.. kinda like taking the remote control and hitting the "Pause" button.
When I am dreaming, I know I am in a dream and it's not true.. (usually if the dream doesn't bode well). It's probably due to stress, but I generally have to let the dream run its course before I can wake up. sweatdrop No breaks allowed.
My dreams aren't usually as intense as my brother or sister, theirs kind of foretell an omen or some sort.. it usually has connections with death and the deceased. On the other hand, mine is usually plain weird like having a dream which my grandma turned into a werewolf, a couple of times I think... xp or having the house burn to the grounds. As I said, I am probably stressed. >.>

I have a friend who can do the "pause" thing in his dreams, too! He's even said his dreams are so video game-like, sometimes there's actually an Escape button when things get too freaky! blaugh
