My vocal teacher is a very wise man. He always knows what's best. I am merely not angry that I lost a solo to one that is experienced, I am not mad at all. I understand fully why I didn't get it, the thing that counts is that I have confidence. Anyway, today the auditions for two songs, I am His Child, and How Could I Ever Know, continued. Everyone who went sang well, some are less experienced definitely. They're not all in Select, (Thank Gawd) but it was nice to hear them up close and personal.

Ok now to the reason. Possibly, Two different options: One he used pity points. The one guy who got the guy solo had been laughed at by a peer and basically wept because of it, went again, and the teacher was like good job. Anywho, he was given pity points to raise his spirits. Other people who got the solos, mainly girls, were probably given the same praise. I have concluded that they were given out of gratitude rather than who seriously had the skill or not. Second Option: To protect the confidence of those at an above level. SweetSurfer and I both tried out for solos, and surpass the talents of all the Freshmen that went. When I think of the others from Select Choir who went, they were just as awesome. However, when we entered mixed chorus, people of all different levels sang together, and I guess we didn't get solos because we were being protected. Someone might've said something to lower our confidence and thus worsen our voices. We all know we have it in us, and that we're better, but the voice teacher treats us like his children and ops to protect our reputations by not giving us solos. As farfetch as this may sound I believe in it fully.
