I don't know about the rest of you personally but I'm a report whore. There are times I'll report almost every single thread I see on the front page for being spam, which they rightfully are.
One of the best ways to keep spam off the front page is to report and if possible... refrain from posting in spam threads. For me its very tempting to want to post in spam threads and verbally abuse the OP... but for the most part I restrain myself. Remember... the fewer responses it gets the quicker it sinks.
Protip: Never feed trolls, ever. If you see a troll thread report it and leave it alone.

Oh I love to report spam. : D
Reporting spam threads on the AMC is like trolls getting their thread over 10 pages. D:

I post for newbies. If I see a topic made by a newb, I'll post to inform them to read the guidelines and explain what is wrong with their topic. I also post to encourage literacy. Everything else is just reported.

I don't think I ever had to use the report button. Maybe sooner or later if I encounter a difficult situation I'll use the button. whee

Protip: Never feed trolls, ever. If you see a troll thread report it and leave it alone. Not responding to such threads is the best option together with reporting it so the GaiaOnline Staff can take care of it, in reality however most people don't bother to think about it and spend hours pbumping these threads back to the first page, today for example I found a Vs thread about Naruto and Bleach that already had 17 pages. People hardly bother to read the Guidelines and everyone wants to talk about their favorite shows, that's not bad in any way but I can imagine that people are getting annoyed by the fact that there are sometimes 30 Naruto threads that are discussing the same basic things. As Wyrn said informing them is also a very good idea since it makes them aware of the fact that there are rules in the Forum which people need to follow.

When I'm feeling nice and I'll inform of them, though sometimes I'm still the old b*****d I've always been and say something. I don't envy being in your position. Also... have you ever gone under any other names on Gaia? I'm pretty sure I've seen you in some of my old threads... but I can't place your name. I used to be Orlan Drake.

To give them the possibility to keep the Forums clean and to punish the people who are offending the GaiaOnline Terms of Service. I've had other names on Gaia before I started being Less active in the Forum, these days I'm just too busy with work and with other things both related to Gaia and RL. you might remember the names Lord-SW, Lord-Sw Of The Skies and Lord SoundWave. Those are the names I had before I changed it to SoundBlast.

I do, I just don't go and brag in the thread in question with stuff like "OMFG, I LYK REPORTED UR a** LOLZ!". I just wait until someone actually dare to deal with it. And sometimes, I'll admit, take part to the, often spamistic discussion. I won't deny...

I report a lot, mostly when I see people asking for illegal streams and downloads, and pretty often for spam. At first I thought I was doing it too much, and that I was going to somehow infuriate one of the mods. Then over the course of a couple of months I got three PMs from Zero Omega thanking me for sending in reports. It made me feel happy because I had done something worth a "Thank you" from a moderator.

I totally whore out the report button, but there is only one rule in regards to how I report.
Never report flaming.
Just threads, and any post that links to or contains the location of pirated materials.

It made me feel happy because I had done something worth a "Thank you" from a moderator. I get them all the time, just a few days ago before clearing out my mains PM box, I LUL'd because I had six different "thank you" messages and the two reports against me, one was rightfully done the other unjust, sandwiched right between them. I seriously Lul'd.

I'm pretty bad about just burning the people who make the spam. I'm going to try to use the report button more though. Maybe we can get back the actual A/M/C if we report enough of the spam. Good point about how posting in the threads actually brings them up though.
Edit: Wow, we really need to make this Guild more active. Anyway, I've now officially become a report whore and have in fact received some thank yous from the Admins.

Zero's a nice guy....a little....weird, but a nice guy nontheless. To answer the question of the thread....to be honest...I plainly forget about the report button over half the time. And then suddenly someone will mention it to me and I'll be like: "Ooooh yeaaaaah! That thingy! Report report report!"
