I might get a puppy. I hope I do. ^.^ It's hard finding a puppy thats calm enough and likes other animals. I have five cats and my 7 month old niece visits each weekend. I've been looking at Craigslist for pups. Hard with most of them being scams or pups that rip things apart and aren't nice to cats and babies. Oh and going to pounds and animal shelters never work. I need like a Grade B or Grade A puppy, acoording to the site, and since they are great eith everything and don't chew things up, they are adopted asap. And then when I find a puppy, contact those selling it, and make a deal with them, they last minutely give it to a random person, despite it being promised to me. I could totally sue them(verbal contract and the puppy is $75. Can sue if it's over $20 XD), but not worth it and don't wish to contribute to the whole everyone in America sues.
Anyone ever had difficulty finding a pet?

I wake up with one cat in my bed. Once I had three kitties in there. It was pretty amusing.
I used to own fishies, birds, iguanas, cats and dogs all in one house. Now it's just cats.
I would like fishies and reptiles again.

I've actually had a lot of success with the ASPCA, but to get a very specific pet like you want, you have to go every week or so. Puppies have a short 'shelf life" biggrin

Honestly, if you are looking for a puppy that doesn't chew things up, you shouldn't look for a puppy. They all chew, regardless of what a breeder might say.
I refer you to NeoLordMaxwell, who has cared for a full litter of purebred collies from birth. Puppies just go through a stage where chewing is normal. His chairs still have massive chew marks, and they lost a couch to one of them who decided to burrow into it. They just don't know better ^_^;;
Behavior is taught, so you will have to contend with a bit of chewing and mess if you want a young dog.

Have you thought of getting an older dog that is trained and cat friendly?
Ads posted @ the vet's are good for those~

Best of luck looking biggrin

Wouldn't it be cool if puppies grew up to be kittens?

I've never gone out to buy a puppy. Most of our pets found us. I am a big fan of mutts, or I guess mixed breeds would be the more pc term. My current dog is a mix of Queensland Healer and what got over the fence. She is a great dog now. Good with chickens and such. I think all puppies chew on things, you just need to provide things that they are allowed to chew on and train them accordingly.

I might STEAL that ferret. ******** CUTE as ******** s**t. I'm in love with it. Amazing.

Yeah, as mentioned, I've raised puppies on about three separate occasions, two times raising champion bred border collies. Pups chew and there's no two ways around it regardless of pedigree. It's simply their teething phase. I suggest adopting or buying from a good-cause shelter type situation, getting a dog or pup that seems to fit, and just try and watch it and give it chew toys, cause it's gonna go through that phase, barring none.

As for my pet collection, in addition to my five dogs, currently living in my mothers house, I once had birds, endless numbers of fish, and a turtle I have had for going on 20 some odd years and counting.
