Okay I know that I am one of many with this on my mind. At the beginning of the trailer they call the monster "Target: Cloverfield" and the main question is, why name the monster Cloverfield? I know in the trailer the monster isn't a giant cloverfield (XD). The only thing is that the beast is green, but it could have been the lighting. WE MUST DISCUSS!

They called it Cloverfield because they, meaning, the military in the movie, don't know what else to call it. Possibly because they've never seen anything like it before. But I don't think that this "Cloverfield" title is going to hold up for long. I've got a feeling that they are going to come up with something better to call it before the movie premieres. At least, I hope they do.

Maybe it ties to that whole infection and the parisites from the monster. It looks like it could contaminate everyone fast.

Cloverfield. Clovers live off the rot and decay of death. If New York is leveled, corpses will feed the clovers.
Me view.

Cloverfield is the street that Paramount is on.
And originally the creature was going to be called... 'Greyshot,' if I'm remembering correctly. There is also a WolfMother song on during the party right before the first monster attack that says something along the lines of 'As she's standing in the field of clover'.' Which could be where the military decided to name it, that is if they watched Rob's video first. But I digress.
I think it's because the government make up stupid names for everything.

I read in latest Entertainment Weekly that the writer said that he picked that title and hasn't told anyone why, even J.J. Abrams. ...Interesting ninja
