Has anyone tried Tunisian? I love the way it looks but I don't have any Tunisian hooks so I can only do a couple of inches wide. Here is a link so you can see what I'm talking about. I can't imagine making an entire afghan with this! What Is Tunisian?

Oh yeah, I've heard of that before. I was researching some new techniques when I used to teach a crochet and knitting class and I came across that in some random book. It's a really nice stitch but good lord it takes forever to get anything finished. I'm afraid I am much too lazy to ever really use it.

It does take forever, I think I want to try making a cell phone holder with it.

I made this one a while back but I'm getting tired of it already. I did it in the round so that's why the hole for the light is a little wonkey. I got a lot of use out of it though.

It is also called the afghan stitch. What's cool about it is that after you make whatever you make, you can then emrooider on it. it works just excatclly like cross stitch.

Now that's something that never even occurred to me to use it for. My friend, I think you've just opened up a whole new world of possibilities.

I had bought one really nice wooden afghan (tunisian) hook and I was starting on an afghan, then my dog chewed on BOTH ends of the hook...I was so pissed.
I haven't had the chance to go back to the yarn shop to buy another one.

I really like the Tunisian, especially the reversible but it can be kind of tough on your hands. I found several leaflets and books for this at Annie's Attic and Mary Maxium. I order from both sites all the time and they are reliable. They also carry the hooks and afghan cables you will need for this. Good luck!
