INFORMATION:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American cult television series that aired March 10, 1997 and ran for seven seasons until May 20, 2003. It was created by writer-director Joss Whedon.
The series narrative follows Buffy Anne Summers, the latest in a line of young women chosen by fate to battle against vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness; she is the Slayer. The show follows Buffy and her circle of loyal friends (the "Scooby Gang") as she grows from a teenager into a young woman, all the while fighting the powers of evil and adulthood.
Even in the face of how ridiculous Buffy the Vampire Slayer was, it being a TV show based off a 'failed' movie doesn't make it any more sane of an idea, the show found an audience. Even more surprising for the show with the funny name is that the over all critic reception was positive, and continued to be for the length of the shows lifetime. Buffy was ranked #41 on the list of TV Guide's 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time and voted #3 in TV Guide's Top 25 Cult TV Shows of All Time and was included in TIME Magazine's 100 Best TV Shows of All Time.
The series has received attention in fandom, parody, and academia, and has influenced the direction of other television series.
