I bought some stuff called Diamond Glaze from JoAnn.com - has anyone tried this before? It's kind of like resin casting I believe. I got a reusable plastic jewelry mold and tried to encase a guitar pick in the Diamond Glaze. The first time I let it dry 24 hours and when I tried to take it out my thumb went through it so it needs longer than that to dry, lol.
I am working on a second one right now but I poured this one in layers because I think it will work better. I also poured some with beads and charms in them. I will post a picture in a few days when they are done. Not sure how to attach the jewelry clasps/key rings/ etc yet but this is my first attempt at making anything like this. I am going to try a toothpick held up by plastic wrap to make a hole for the clasps.

Ok I guess that was a bad idea, I couldn't get most of the pieces out and they all just suck. So much for that! lol

I've never tried clay but I think it will be a good thing to get into once my son gets a little older.

So... the jewelry mold had fallen back behind my computer desk and stayed there for a while until I cleaned up today and wouldn't you know it, when I tried to pop the pieces out they came right out this time! Apparently they just need like a year to dry. Maybe I will try this one more time, lol.
