This model may look simple, but it's deceptively so. It requires quite a bit of advanced folding, including some tricky inversion folds. The end result is extremely satisfying, especially since you can keep going after the first three layers.
Ravi Apte has put together an excellent set of photograph instructions here. I was able to figure the directions out and have made two of these so far, so feel free to ask me if you're stuck somewhere.

I was able to get up to five tiers with a regular 6"x6" piece of paper. I found the aid of a mechanical pencil (without the lead) and even some tweezers to be very useful in the later tiers, especially for grabbing pesky edges that my fingers were too big for. It should be noted that the finished model will be one fourth the size of your original paper - so my 6"x6" paper became a 3"x3" hydrangea.
