The western half of the island gives way to tall, swaying grass that is occasionally interrupted by a grove of trees surrounding a waterhole. Watched over by the ranger tower on the far western rocks, the western waterhole is delivered weekly with one or two carcasses of sheep or cattle to help maintain the predator population. The rest of the wide flatlands are home to the herbivores who travel in numbers and defend themselves with hoof and horn from any daring meat-eater.
