Slightly west of the very middle of the island, the electric fences and squat, concrete buildings that are the Lab, Holding and Study area stand out with the grassland on their west and the treeline of the forest backing the east end. Made up of three wings, the facility is a busy beehive of researchers, technicians and rangers who keep themselves occupied taking care of the animal occupants of Jahazi, including administering medical attention to injured or ill animals and providing weekly food at various points on the island. There are four jeeps and a helicopter landing site, although the only time a helicopter appears is to deliver a new animal, as food and non-emergency supplies are brought by ship. The perimeter of this place is strongly guarded by tall, electrified fences.
