BUT, there are TONS upon TONS of Yaoi.

Not Shounen-Ai. YAOI.

I'm always slightly agitated when I walk in that the only thing even CLOSE to Shoujo-Ai is Venus Versus Virus. That's barely even girl-love! It's inferencing, which really makes it seem like an excuse if someone were to say 'OMG GAY STUFF!'

...

Borders sucks. -_-

Ah, yeah...I hate that. ><
I want yuri stuff not online, but in my bookstores. D:

Not even My-Hime? Cause when I was looking for shojo ai that was all that I could find... But better than nothing, I guess...

BUT YAOI IS GOOD.

Just kidding, I know that's not what you wanted to hear.

Yeah actually, I think the problem is demographics and marketing. What are people in your area interested in? If the store doesn't see profit in carrying shoujo-ai and yuri manga, it won't carry them. If you and a couple of others ask them about it, however, they may start carrying it because they'll know you're interested.

Or, then, they can probably place orders for it and get it to you that way. I doubt it'll cost them anything.

No, no, it's not that I don't like Yaoi. I love any good romance stories.

The problem is, they carry the 'Explicit Content' Yaoi, and not many simple, same-sex love Shoujo-Ai or Shounen-Ai I'm more interested.

I wish my little brother wouldn't threaten to kill me when I ask about Yuri, though. He punches me in the gut quite often. -_-

Yeah the only thing I've seen related to yuri or shoujoai is My-Hime. I haven't really checked for any though. I should though.

:[ I'm really sorry about that.

Hmm, I haven't looked much into the shoujo-ai offered in my area, since there are so few good series that are licensed and released in the US that I'm just not that interested. The best series (in my opinion) tend to be more underground and more true romance types, and there's a lot of fanwork to tide me through in the meantime.

Are there any series you were looking for in particular? Say, Kannazuki no Miko, Simoun, Maria-sama ga Miteru, or Shoujo Kakumei Utena? These are all pretty big names and I believe all or most of them have been licensed in both anime and manga forms. They're probably among the most likely to be available around if you look for them. Lesser series may be harder to find.

Uh... Are those the actual English titles? X_x

I know about Revolutionary Girl Utena. I saw a little bit of the movie once. The little part before the credits.

Did NOT help that my mom was there, too. -_-

Ah. My-Hime was Parental Advisory. Damn.

Well, I found an interesting shojo ai-ish manga the other day. It's called something Labyrinth... And I agree. A majority of book stores have seperated the yaoi from the rest of the mangas.

Ahh yeah. The Mai-HiME manga is...not really worksafe. It's not particularly good, either. I'd watch the anime instead.

I don't know if Kannazuki no Miko is the English title they used, but I haven't heard any other title for it. Perhaps something like "Priestesses of the Godless Month"? Geneon licensed the anime, and Tokyopop has licensed the manga. I don't know much about whether it's been released yet or anything.

Maria-sama ga Miteru translates to "The Virgin Mary Is Watching". I haven't really heard anything on whether that one's licensed, but I think it might be because it's a huge name in the yuri community.

Simoun should go under just that name. I know the anime has been licensed, but I don't know if it's been released yet. The manga has probably been licensed but I'm not sure.

Oh, as far as some other stuff to look out for, I'm pretty sure Bakuretsu Tenshi or Burst Angel has been licensed and out for a while. I liked what I saw of it. Manga and anime.

Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~ has been licensed in manga form by Seven Seas and in anime by AnimeWorks. The manga should already be released.

I'm pretty sure Strawberry Panic! has been licensed in both anime and manga form. I believe the manga is being released by Seven Seas and the anime by...AnimeWorks.

Seven Seas has also licensed Venus Versus Virus, which hints that it's going in a very yuri direction...so I'd say keep an eye on that company and AnimeWorks. Anyway, at least the first volume of VVV should be out by now.

Oy, you've been a big help!

I mean, I haven't heard of most of these, but I'm DEFINITELY going to ask the guys at Borders.

They'll give me weird stares, but... Meh. X3

Haha I'm glad to be of assistance. Let me know if your search pulls anything up. I'm sure you'll be able to find some of these, or at least you can almost certainly have your store order them for you.
