Hello and welcome to The Guild of Role Players. As in all decent guilds there will be rules to follow. They must obeyed for all to have fun. So please dont make me punish you for something so small.
Below is a list of basic rules for the role playing forum. 1. Obey the rules set forth by Gaia. No exceptions! 2. No disrespecting other members for their comments or the way they post in the role plays. You will be removed from this guild if this rule is broken. 3. You must obey what the crew and I say when it comes to rules. No exceptions! 4. I reserve the right to add more rules later if necessary. 5. Follow the rule set forth in each of the role plays if a creator of a role play notifies me or a crew member that you are not following the rules that they created then you will be warned twice and then removed on the third warning. 6. And most importantly! Have fun! Don’t let others influence the way you play cause in this guild you are the one who is in control of where things go not others.

Role-play for Beginners.
First thing you have to remember when entering any Roleplay chatroom is to use what they call ooc brackets (Out of character brackets) if wanting to talk within the room. There are many variations of these.. and it would come down to personal preference.. but the most commonly used are the simplistic two brackets.. like this * )) *
If you enter a room whilst a spar/fight is in progress.. it is customary to enter and go directly to your cup. This is to distinguish the players and the judges from the spectators and old school.. to ensure your character isn't accidently injured or killed during the course of the rp.
It is not permitted for anyone other than the players/fighters or the judges to talk during the fight/spar. This is to eliminate any real life disputes from igniting.. which more often or not can and will occur if it is allowed to get out of hand.
-------------------------------------------------------- RP: Role-play
OOC: Out of character. This is referring to anything stated whilst not actually being in character.
IC: In Character. This is referring to anything you would do whilst actually typing as your character.
TB: Turnbase. This is a descriptive form of Rping.
Speed: Is another form of fighting. It is less descriptive.. and yes!... fast.
Melee: A fight where only weapons are used. No Magics.
SL: Storyline.
Para: Paragraphs. This just refers to the more descriptive players.
---------------------------------------------------------
Spar: Is exactly that. It is a fight between two players where Magic or Melee is agreed. However it is not official and any hits or kills are not deemed valid (Though in most cases one player will concede) Anything inflicted during a spar is not taken into rp. It is merely for experience purposes only
Fight: Is exactly that. A fight. Its is official and Valid. Any injuries incurred during these matches do go on to affect the players character in further rp. And yes.. this also means death. Moding/Mode: This is TB (Turnbase) talk for a cheat. Something any rper most defiantly would hate to get labeled. In general terms these come about where one won't accept the rules of fair play.. or won't accept or acknowledge a hit/death etc.
Godmoding/Godmodder : A character deemed undestructable. This becomes an issue of fair play. No-one wishes to fight one of these and in most cases they are dismissed as being moders (see above)
Hammer Hider: This would ordinarily be used again one who has kicked someone whilst in the process of a spar or fight. If one refuses to go through with a fight offered during a SL (storyline) and opts to kick rather than complete the chosen path for fear of their character being injured.. or killed.
NKZ: No Kill zone. This means no-one can enter that room with the intention of killing. If one were to attempt.. and even suceed .. the kill would be automaticalkly stricken and deemed invalid.
NFZ: No Fight Zone. On other words instigating any sort of fight will not be tolerated. Though in most cases as long as both parties agree and the room owner is satified there is rarely a dispute here.
OSZ: Open sex zone. Err.. do you really need a description for that?..Lol
NCZ: No Collar zone. Yes well..some do have their fetishes. This generally refers to those that insist on collaring.. or obtaining themselves a slave.
Noob: This is the ultimate insult to any rper. In general terms it means that the Typist is playing like someone who doesnt know what they are doing. It is a word delibretly used to antagonize and cause conflict. Under no circumstances it the word *Noob* tolerated. (other spellings include: kneewb, n00b, newb, kn00b, knoob, ect.)
Typist: Is refereing to the person behind the character. For example: Sharon is Roselles Typist.
Char: Is an abbreviation of *character
Most of this stuff can apply here to RP but this was mainly designed for chatroom RP in sanctioned forums away from Gaia. They can be applied here as needed.

Is it ok if I post one here? I hate when people do this but ya..
Well for one.
When your character is saying something or thinking, put "" at the beginning and the end. It makes it alot easier to read and such. For those who don't know, here is an example
"Jack go to the store" Mother said
When your person is thinking, try to italize it.
When your person is doing something, don't put **, it makes you look like a nooby roleplayer. Which looks better, *got up and walked to the door* The little boy got up off of the chair, and pushed it into the table. He slowly walked to the door, not knowing what was ahead.
Don't post one liners. Especially if a person spent alot of time thinking of what to put. Example: Fred shoot a fireball at Jack. Jack stepped out of the way.
Don't Godmod. Which means don't make your character unbeatable.
Don't autohit. Which means "I threw a ninja star at you, and it hit you in the chest.
Well I guess thats about it. I can't think of anymore.

I think this should be another hint/tip to role-playing:
When trying to come up with a role-play, attempt to make it open and interesting for everyone.
If you have trouble with this, then feel free to PM the other guild members to see if they have an idea where they might get involved.
Nobody likes a dull rp.
What counts for a dull rp?
1. A storyline that doesn't go anywhere. No one like to rp when they have no idea how to get involved.
2. It is difficult to understand. If one cannot relate to what is going on, then nobody is going to post in it.
3. Too many rules/regulations. If you are too strict, people will feel like you are not fit to roleplay. They will see you as a mean-old warden instead.
