GUITAR HERO 3

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Now, this review will not be equal to all people since the skill level and rhythm of people will greatly vary. Anyway, Guiatar Hero 3 is the 3rd installment of the incredibly succesful guitar hero franchise. The game is now available on all 3 consoles as well as PS2. It is fantastic.
DISCLAIMER: I PLAY ON EXPERT DIFFICULTY AND IM REALLY GOOD SO KEEP THAT IN MIND WHILE READING.
STORY
Though there's never been a defined storyline in Guitar Hero, the thid game attempts to give you a bit of one with amusing cutscenes depicting the trials and tribulations of the band. You can make a band with the name of your choosing and start rocking out on Easy, Medium, Hard, or Expert difficulties. In addition to the old campaign attributes there are three Boss Battles with Tom Morello, Slash, And Lou(your evil devil manager). These are songs played using the battle mode system(see multiplayer) and makes the game more interesting and gives it some variety.
CAREER
The campaign has been well improved over others with all new songs such as Slow Ride by Foghat, Welcome to the Jungle by Guns n Roses, The Metal by Tenacious D, Even Flow by Pearl Jam, and Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce. With such an array of songs it can appeal to almost anybody. Also with four difficulties (Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert) it gives a balanced learning curve. However the large gain of skill in each difficulty starts out slow and suddenly skyrockets around the 6th bracket.
MULTIPLAYER
The multiplayer in this game is basically divided into four main parts: Co-op, Face-off, PRO Face-off, and Battle. Co-op is simply a cooperative take on campaign where one player plays Lead Guitar and the other plays either Bass or Rhythm. Face-off is simply a....well....face-off where one player can choose one difficulty and the other can pick a different one. They also take turns playing bits and pieces of the chosen song(s). PRO Face-off is just like face-off, except both players must play at the same difficulty and also must play the entire song. Battle mode is a new addition to Guitar Hero multiplayer where both player use battle power instead of star power, with power ups such as broken string or double notes, and the first person to fail the song loses. Also there is now online capabilities, so even if you dont have any friends you can still jam in multiplayer.
THE VERDICT
Guitar Hero has always been a personal favorite of mine, but now with the fine-tuning and multiplayer additions it makes it even better and attracts a much wider audience. Taking in account all the different views people have i still give this game a:
9/10
