Anlach was going rather smoothly. The bellow of stags and the clack of antlers, was not an uncommon occurance. And there was another harem, who's stag was mostly unchallenged, set aside in a small glade. Brychan had departed from them momentarily to... take care of business. And as bellowed arose from the Home Oak.. it was clear what the business was.
Brychan had gone to challenge the Lord, and eventually.. things quieted down. Had he succeeded? Or did he lose to Fell Lore again this year? They would have to wait and see. Eventually a black form was making his way back to the glade where he had left his gathering of hinds. Blue eyes seeking them out. Loreena hadn't shown up this year, that thought pricking the back of his mind. Had she been lost? Did a wolf take her? Maybe his daughter as well? It caused him some worry, but he didn't let it affect him too much, for there was nothing that could be done.
Still.. he had a nice assembly of four lovely hinds... his favorite being Telyn, and then there was Rhomae, Aithne, and Aridana. He was rather fond of all of them, but naturally... moreso of Telyn. She had birthed him his first son, and a lovely daughter.
Soon the black stag was upon the glade, and calling for his hinds to come, so that he might speak with them.

Hearing a familiar call, the red hind's ears flickered, swivelling toward the source of the noise as she lifted her head delicately. Ah, there Brychan was. And calling for his hinds too. She'd better go. She was excited, perhaps a tad nervous, but not much, to meet his other hinds. She hoped she would like them, after all she would be spending a good amount of the next little while with them. Snorting softly, she stepped off in the direction of his shape, thinking that there was something she had forgotten about. What was it.
Lord of the Herd. Yes, that was it. Hadn't Brychan gone to challenge Fell Lore again this year? Of course he had, and how that fact had slipped her mind was beyond her. Well, whatever, she had never really concerned herself too much with those sorts of matters. Of course she knew eventually, but as she had never been really involved in the matters before it had never seemed to be of great consequence. But now that it was her stag that had challenged, well, now she cared. She wondered how he had fared? It would have been an interesting fight certainly. Of course, she hoped he had won. Fell Lore was a wonderful Lord certainly, but she didn't know him, and she did know for certain that Brychan would make an excellent Lord.
Reaching him, Aithne nodded to him, greeting him with a simple. "Brychan, nice to see you." And then reaching out and lightly brushing her muzzle against him. She assumed he had news, and that he had come to tell them of how he had fared. She was quite curious, but knew that he would obviously be waiting for the rest of his hinds to arrive before he shared anything, and so she didn't ask, but rather turned her attention back to the glade to see if the other hinds were coming. Not that she would recognize any but Telyn from a distance, but if they were walking towards Brychan...well that would be her first clue.

While Brychan was off doing stagly things such as inviting hinds into his harem and fighting off any other stags as well as challenging the Herd Lord, Telyn was… sleeping. Admittedly, this was a good deal less interesting and exciting than Brychan’s life---and Telyn’s as well---but the hind had been tired lately. Everyone had to sleep at least once in a while, right? Her ear flicked slightly as Brychan’s bellow at the Home Oak barely imprinted on her sleeping brain. The sleeping hind briefly shifted before going back to deep slumber.
Brychan’s second bellow, much closer to the little glade, jerked Telyn out of her nap. The hind woke up with an un-elegant snort and looked around, still not quite awake. For a moment, she simply lay there, wondering if the call had been just her imagination… but, then it sounded again, this time jolting her awake. Brychan had returned. Not that Telyn had been aware that he had left, but… well, he had returned from his latest expedition of collecting hinds. And, as his favorite, it was Telyn’s responsibility to meet the others, even if she preferred to simply ignore them.
Well, some of them… she rather liked Rhomae and Aithne. Maybe a few more good ones had joined… Telyn wasn’t prepared to bet on it, but… the stag did have some good taste. Stretching out gracefully, the gray hind stood up and started her walk towards the black stag. She recognized Aithne and smiled at the red hind, pleased that Brychan had invited her into the harem. But first, nuzzles! She brushed her muzzle against Brychan’s neck briefly, nipping just a little.
“Good to see you again,” she informed him. “And good to see you too, Aithne.” Indeed it was.

This year had caused the hind's ear more than enough noise, laying in the grass and watching the younger bucks fighting and competing for the hinds, it did her heart well to know they had such powerful young ones to look after the herd. However, one of her delicate ears twitched at the sound of her new mate bellowing, ahh yes...this would be it, this would be the day she met Brychan's harem and she lifted to her hooves gracefully. She had to say she was a little nervous.
But another thought had propped within her mind, she'd known of the ebony stags attempt at becoming Lord...she wondered how it had went? Had he suceeded and become the new Lord? Or had he failed? All these thoughts floated in her mind as she casually walked through the meadow towards the old, majestic figure of Home Oak. ...and others.
She paused slightly at the sight of the other hinds, a momentary flicker of reluctance...what if they didn't like her? Or what if they judged her wrongfully if she made one mistake? Oh well, now or never and she simply made her way towards the stag and the two other hinds...wondering if others would come as she offered them all a friendly smile.
"Hello again." She offered her greeting first to Brychan and then bowed her head respectfully to the other two females. "And hello to you two aswell."

Eat eat eat. And eat. And sleep. And eat.
Amazing she wasn't fat by now, considering that was most of her day in a nutshell.
Eating she was, grazing alone in a quiet section of the herd. She had been thinking - as usual - about her harem, and about Brychan. He had gone to challenge Fell Lore again. Oh, how the hind hoped he would be successful...the stag so deserved that position. Not that Fell did not, of course, but that was a different matter. She had an ambitious streak that was only fed by Brychan's own; every triumph of his was a triumph of hers, and every failure was felt deeply. So if he lost....
He would not lose. Not this time.
Her head was brought up by a call. Not just any call - it called to her, and to Telyn, and to the other members of Brychan's harem. Looking around, she caught sight of the dark stag...and the other hinds moving t'wards him. Ah, well, meeting time at last?
Rhomae trotted in the direction of the others, greeting Brychan as she padded up with a light nuzzle and a few words. "Hello my dear...and hello, everyone else," she said quietly, nodding to each of them.

Another hind that was quietly grazing nearby, also lifted her head and perked her ears. It was Siani, the quiet and shy new hind of Brychan's harem. But she was quite a look as well with the striped legs and deep mahogany pelt. She quietly approached, offering a soft smile to her stag and her own greeting as the others did so. She hung at the back of the group, glancing at each one of the hinds that had come forward. This was the first time she'd seen any of them.
Brychan's face lit up as all the hinds gathered around them. He nuzzled Teyln affectionately, and returned Rhomae's as well. Bright blue eyes looking over each of them, "Hello ladies, its good to see all of you as well." He held his head high, barely able to contain the pride that he felt rising in his chest. Not only at the fine gathering of hinds he had around him, but also at the news he had to share.
"We're moving to the Home Oak, I was able to beat Fell Lore this year." Which naturally, made him Lord of the herd. He'd finally achieved his ultimate goal, he was now the leader of their herd. All his hard work had paid off and his ambitions have come to fruition.

Aithne grinned at Telyn as her firned walked up. "And you," she replied back, and then stopped to stare curiously as several other hinds seemed to be making their way up to Brychan. The first to arrive after herself and Telyn was a pretty brown and cream hind that Aithne hadn't seen before. She seemed nice, and Aithne returned the smile. Next, it was a striped black and white hind that trotted towards them, followed lastly by an interestingly coloured hind, with mixed colours of brown, white and black. Aithne nodded to all of them, curious about who they were, but for now simply returned their greetings with a friendly "Hello to all of you as well." She wondered if any more were coming, it seemed Brychan had gathered quite a harem about him this anlach. Five, a quite sizeable number, she hoped that she would like all of the others. But, they all gave off ncie enough first impressions, a few seeming a tad shy, but they would probably warm up more once they all knew each other better.
All of this was forgotten of course as Brychan proudly proclaimed his victory. She grinned widely, "That's awsome Brychan, congratulations!" And indeed, she was thrilled for him, she knew Fell Lore wouldn't have been as easy opponent to beat, but obviously Brychan had come through in the end. So now...he was Lord of the herd. Wow, that seemed just so incredibly...impressive. And to think, she was in his harem. That too seemed amazing and almost beyond her comprehension. Up until now, for all of her years growing up, and even as a hind, the Lord had been a known, but distant figure, always there, but never really directly involved in her day to day life. But now, she supposed all of that would change. It would be interesting, to see what life of a Lord's hind was like. In all reality, it probably wasn't that much different from any other hind's life in a harem, but, with a little more prestige of course.

During the nuzzle, Telyn furtively looked at the other hinds for two reasons. First of all, she wanted to make sure they saw this, wanted to be sure that they knew she was the favorite. Sure, it was a little arrogant, but who wouldn’t be proud of such an accomplishment? Brychan was Brychan! Secondly, she also wanted to see the new hinds… Brychan had added three hinds since last Anlach, and the gray hind didn’t even recognize two of them, two brown hinds with drastically differing patterns. Both were, she had to notice, pretty. She would definitely have to watch her jealousy this Anlach, now wouldn’t she?
Her attention was quickly diverted by Brychan’s announcement. Of course, she had expected him to challenge Fell Lore. She had encouraged him to do such and held in faith that he would win the Lordship of the herd one day… still, hearing it was simply amazing. A smile came to her face and she stood just a little straighter, as proud of her stag’s accomplishment as if she had been the one to fight Fell Lore.
“That’s wonderful, Brychan,” she said. Her smile drained just a little at the idea of going to the Home Oak. While she would interact with the other hinds in his harem, she preferred to be left alone. Or, at least, not in the middle of everything. Hm. Well, it would only last a little while, and then she could be her loner self once again. But first, she had to keep an eye on the new hinds. Rhomae, she knew from last year, and rather liked. Aithne, she knew and liked. But the two new ones, the brown hinds, still had to prove themselves to be worthy. She returned their smiles, of course, but there was no real warmth to them. Telyn didn’t see the point of pretending to like someone, and didn’t want to waste her energy on such things.

Well this was certainly nice news, the hinds ears perked forward and she smiled softly at her mate...and now the Lord of the herd. She couldn't help but feel happy for him as she stood there at the back with the other new hinds, feeling much better as she recieved a kind smile from Aithne...Telyn however she still wasn't sure off. She was obviously the 'lead' hind in this harem, so she'd have to do her best and not get on her bad side...beside they'd probably become friends in time.
"Well done, Brychan." She called out happily, taking a small step closer. "That is great news." She said happily and it was great news, Aridana had to admit, the male was kind, gentle, but not without his strength and would be a wonderful Lord for the herd.

Rhomae's eyes flashed with a renewed brilliance, simply beaming at Brychan as he announced his victory. Oh sure, she had not doubted for a second that he would win...but to actually hear it? What a feeling. The culmination of all his hard work would surely bathe all of them in rewards...she was glad for it.
"That is fabulous, Brychan. Well done!" she exclaimed, tossing her head and almost jumping a little. The other hinds - including those she did not know - seemed happy as well. Good. If they somehow were not, that more caustic side of Rhomae would have to appear sooner than anticipated. What a good impression that would make.
She decided to ask the question that had not yet been asked. "Are you harmed at all from the battle?"

Siani's dark eyes also lit up at the news. She was not very much in the know and had barely knew who Brychan was when he'd asked her to join his harem... so the news of him becoming Lord was certainly a surprise.. a pleasant one to be sure. A smile had been returned to Aithne and Telyn was given a slightly wary look, but now Siani was beaming with the news. Who would have known that she, of all hinds, would be in a Lord's harem? It was certainly a great honor. "Congratulations Brychan" she said softly, and although she wasn't leaping with excitement as that wasn't her nature... he words and smile were sincere.
Brychan chuckled at all the words of congrats from the hinds, he could see that they were all pleased and happy for him, which just swelled his pride and joy even more. Rhomae's question drew a shake of his head, "No.. I'm fine. It was a close battle, but we managed to refrain from hurting each other." After all.. Brychan had been friends with Fell Lore for some time now, he didn't really want to hurt the other stag if he didn't have to.
Drawing in a breath, he then looked at his gathering of hinds, "Well I suppose you know what this means. I'll be sticking around the Home Oak now." So it was probably best if all of them stayed there for the rest of Anlach. They could come back to this grove to birth their calves and fawns if they really wanted to.. but Brychan needed to stay at the Home Oak and he needed to watch after his hinds for the remainder of Anlach as well.

Well, at least they were all happy at the news… not that Telyn thought for a second they wouldn’t be. Why would a hind be unhappy at such news? Well, except for her, in some ways, since it meant she would be watched more carefully. Or might be. It was hard to tell what other herla would care about, especially in this herd.
The news that neither stag had been harmed was even more welcome than the news of Brychan’s newly acquired Lordship. It was bad business when a stag hurt another in a bid for leadership of the herd. A harmful stag like that would likely find himself questioned. “That’s good…” she murmured, once again looking over at the other hinds. Well, none of them looked like much of a threat to her… best stay on good terms until they had proven themselves. “Well, let’s start moving to the Home Oak then,” she suggested after a brief moment.
Oh! Right… it would probably be best if she introduced herself to the new hinds. She at least ought to know their names, if only for peace’s sake. Approaching the two new brown hinds, she looked from Aridana to Siani before speaking. “I’m Telyn, by the way.”

Ah yes, they'd be moving to Home Oak...a fact that she had put out of her mind at the time of his announcement, not wanting to seem anything less than elated. But truthfully, despite her joy that Brychan was now Lord, the idea of being moved to Home Oak was something less than appealing. She had never really spent all that much time there truthfully, as she'd always tended to stay more to the edges of the herd, a lot of the time venturing out just within the outriders patrol area to graze. The multitude of hinds that resided at Home Oak, and the amount of gossip that would no doubt be flying through the herd wasn't something she really looked forward to.
Well, at least neither Brychan nor Fell Lore had been hurt, that was good news. And she was sure the two of them would still be on fairly good terms, Brychan did used to be one of Fell Lore's trusted Captains. She blew softly out of her nostrils and lifted her head, looking towards the center of the herd's territory, where Home Oak lay. Yes, she supposed they'd better get going. It would be interesting for certain, the arrival at least. She wondered if all the other hinds would be staring. What was she saying, of course they would be. She had mixed feelings about this. On one hand, she was proud to be in Brychan's harem, and wanted the other hinds to know it, but at the same time..she wasn't sure if she wanted them all recognizing her.
Oh right, she had fogotten about introductions. Following Telyn's lead, she approached the other hinds, including both brown ones, and the black and white. "And I'm Aithne, it's nice to meet you all." She assumed Telyn must already know the black and white hind, which would probably mean that one was Rhomae...she had heard of her from both Telyn and Brychan, who had spoken of her as a 'like minded hind.' And Brychan had said Loreena was also a red coloured hind, and so she let her gaze linger an extra little bit on the hind she assumed was Rhomae, trying to discern her personality from appearances, though, that never had worked too well.

Everything seemed to be perfect this day, but, as the two 'main' hinds moved over the brown and white females ears flattened back shyly before she and the other new ones were greeted. Well that was a relief, taking a small breath before she smiled at the red and grayish blue female.
"It's a pleasure to meet you both, I'm Aridana." She said, her voice was soft and also had a slightly submissive tone to it, the last thing she wanted to do was try and dominate these two. Especially if they'd been with Brychan first.

She lifted her eyes to gaze at the Home Oak, turning an ear casually to the light chatter amongst her Harem-mates and Brychan...though she responded not to it. Telyn and Brychan were likely used to it. After all, she usually enjoyed the solitude of her own thoughts. Most of the time.
Ah, introductions. Right.
"That is well, Brychan," she responded, finally, to the news of his perfect health. Or...near-perfect. Whatever.
Rhomae allowed everyone else to speak before looking away from the Home Oak, smiling softly at Telyn before looking over all the others with those quietly intense eyes. She could tell that at least one of them was trying to decipher her already...hah, quite a task. The hind herself hadn't even accomplished that yet. Ah, well. They would learn all she had to share soon enough. Though, it was likely that Telyn would remain her favorite.
Biased? A little.
"Greetings," she began, dipping her head a little. "I am called Rhomae. It will be a pleasure getting to know you all."
