Chapter 1: The Lab

_______Down in a secret lab, Dr. Fay Lyndel, a new scientist, walked along the tunnels of the cavernous concrete bunker. On these walls were hidden defense systems and cameras. Dr. Lyndel noted that each room was half circled with experiment tube pods along the walls and touch-computers along the rounded side of the rooms. She looked at this all with astonishment and walked through each doorway until she came to a larger, more circular room. It was like the others, but there were touch-computers around every piece of wall. An oval tube with two live infants inside it was in the middle of the room, surrounded as well by touch-computers. A clear wall separated the five month old infants, who were immersed in bright blue water that had a dark red glow to it. The room was also dimly lit and the main light was coming from the glow of the water. There was only one other scientist in the room, a man with short, tame dark red hair and light skin. He wore a long white lab coat with a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and black polished shoes, the name, “Steve Howden” written neatly on a golden name tag rested beside his tie.

_______Steve looked at her sternly, but then smiled sweetly. “Dr.Lyndel, I presume. It’s nice of you to come here at last. I’m pleased that you took our offer to come and see your twin children. They will be remarkable warriors in the battle at hand. It seems that this enhanced bio-chemical water our children are in is doing much more than Dr. Groven had anticipated.” Steve informed her pleasantly as he turned his head to look at the twins, then he slowly turned back at Dr. Lyndel with a bit of a devilish grin. Right away, he changed his expression into a loving, caring smile that he’d only show to Dr. Lyndel.

_______Dr. Lyndel was a bit suspicious about this, but she dismissed her mistrustful thoughts. She treasured Steve with all her heart, so she couldn’t believe that he’d give such a demonic look towards her. Then she gingerly walked straight up to him and kissed him. To her it felt like time was still and the rain was with them like the first time they had met. She was sure she knew him, but sometimes she felt like he was a complete stranger in her world. After Fay backed up a bit from him, she felt overjoyed but uneasy at the same time. She looked up at Steve, and then behind him. “Steve. I thought this was a closed conversation. Who’s that?” Fay asked walking a bit towards the figure. She stopped a few paces away from Steve. “Isn’t that Conan? I thought you told me he was dead!” Her face looked at his in a fearful way. “What’s going on here? Steve?” Fay’s eyes were full of confusion and panic.

_______“I’m sorry my dear, dear Fay. You should have known about this. I thought I gave you enough hints towards this. Well, it’s too late Fay. Now it’s time for your execution, traitor.” Steve spoke with his stern voice which made Fay believe that he really was a stranger. She was shocked, little did she know that once he wanted something done, he’d do anything to get it finished.
