The lyrics to that song speak to me because i grew up and spent most of my childhood and teenage years hanging at the Beach/Park mentioned in the song, located in St.Catharines Ontario , i first heard the song when i was younger and fell in love with it, and now whenever im there walking the pier or chilling out on the beach i find myself humming the song lol I'm a bit too young to remeber the midway but my Dad says he used to frequent it as a kid himself, the merry go round is still there and still 5 cents, but i miss the fact that you now cannot have fires on the beach its a hazard sad
I have bolded the lyric in the song thats my favorite part whee
Midway hawkers calling "Try your luck with me;" Merry-go-round wheezing The same old melody A thousand ten cent wonders Who could ask for more A pocketful of silver The key to heaven's door
Lakeside Park Willows in the breeze Lakeside Park So many memories Laughing rides Midway lights Shining stars on summer nights
Days of barefoot freedom Racing with the waves Nights of starlit secrets Crackling driftwood flames Drinking by the lighthouse Smoking on the pier Still we saw the magic Was fading every year
Everyone would gather On the twenty-fourth of May Sitting in the sand To watch the fireworks display. Dancing fires on the beach, Singing songs together... Though it's just a memory, Some memories last forever.

That's a really cool story Angel. I think it would be great to be able to walk in a place that their song was written about.
I have my own Rush story though. When we moved from Japan, we were stationed in Baltimore, Maryland. We didn't have a house, so we were house hunting with an agent. She had showed us a number of houses and none of them really jumped out at us. After the last house, she said that there was something she wanted to show us. She knew we were not looking to buy, we were only going to rent, but she wanted us to see these new homes being built. As we came up the street, we saw 3 houses on the right. She pulled into the driveway of one, which was being used as the display. We got out and went inside and looked around. I looked at my husband and said, "Do you realize where we are?" He didn't and I proceeded to tell him we were only 3 or 4 blocks away from the Catholic school we had enrolled our daughter in for that coming school year. She walked us down the street to the 3rd house, which was still under construction and we went inside and looked around. We took some time to think about the idea of buying a home and finally decided to go for it. Guess what the house number was? My favorite Rush album of all time: 2112. I couldn't have been happier. I tried to get the phone company to give me that number, but we all know how that turned out. But that's not the end. The day the movers showed up to deliver our furniture and stuff, the drivers had a portable radio playing, while they unloaded the truck and what song comes on, but 2112. It was a perfect day and we ended up living in that house for 11 years.

I've also been there. Although I didn't grow up in St. Catherines, most of my relative live there. It's kind of strange that I think it's awesome That I had been where Neil had, you know?

Never been there, but Peart said in an interview that he used to work for the fair or something there.
