What was your first impression of the Fruits Basket manga or anime?
As for me, when I first heard the name I knew it was going to be hilarious. I also had the impression that it was only going to be a light-hearted comedy. Boy was I wrong about that! By the way, I''m talking about the anime here, because I watched it before starting to read the manga)

I started reading the manga first and I loved Tohru from the begining... I thought it was going to be something light hearted with little drama but I was totally wrong! Even now I don''t really know what to expect in the manga! The twists just keep getting twistier xd

I didn't really think much of it at first because I'm normally not into shoujo manga/anime and I had very low resources at the time of it's first release. Then in college there was downloading issues (like not having space on your old a** computer you first decided to bring with you) and downloading quotas from your ISP and school network. Sometime later though I was in Japanese class and we had to research the real Juunishi and I ran it in a search engine as part of the research I was supposed to do for class and came upon a Fruits Basket page. I read it in curiosity and instantly became hooked on the plot and decided to pick it up. I got the entire series, watched it, and never looked back.

Actually, it took me a while to even look at furuba xd my friend was reading it, and right away from looking at the cover of numer one I thought it's be like some other manga my friends liked that I hated xp It was the art style that got to me, my friends were into peachgirl and stuff, and Tohru's big eyes kinda reminded me of that xp But after going to anime expo, I ended up getting the vioce of haru's singnature~ and suddenly I was interested xd heart I've been hooked ever since blaugh heart

The manga surprised me more then the anime. All the drama and the depth of some of the simpliest characters blow me away.
