I just thought I'd ask what people think of them, since I'm growing more and more intrigued by them. For those who don't know, crack fics are those ones that are so... well, odd, that they make you think 'what on earth was the author smoking?'
I thought I'd try my hand at writing one, just for the experience, and I have to admit that it's probably the easiest thing I've ever written. Althought, that's probably due to the lack of intricate plot twists and details; I can just write whatever comes to mind at the time.
And therein lies the problem, if that's what you want to call it. Yes, crack fics are usually capable of making me laugh out loud repeatedly, but they're also usually written so poorly. They're not the thing to write if you want to show off some writing talent. It's incredibly rare to find one where the characters aren't butchered and made OOC, but then it's difficult to keep characters in-character when writing crack.
I'd write more, but it's late and my lack of eloquence is appalling. So how do other people see crack?

I think it's funny, and I especially like crack pairings (MiaxNaesala!!). I've seen some good fanfics of such things, but most I just look at the summary, and I think it's too stupid sounding for me to waste my time on. There are exceptions though.
I write about crack pairings often, but it's hard to keep people in character sometimes. It's a whole lot easier to keep people in character if it's a multi-chapter story. That way you can build up their relationships. Sorry, I know I'm really only referring to pairings, but the same principal may work for other kinds as well. I've just never tried it.

I love crack fics. They are so much fun to read and even more so to write. Some of my most popular stuff with my readers is crack, but I like knowing that I made people laugh. I also adore crack pairings, not because I support any - though there are some I really like - I just find them to be interesting and fun. I am the queen of crack pairings. I literally like ones that will make people question my sanity. I'm really tempted to write a oneshot with some totally crack couple just to freak my readers out - I even have the perfect one in mind and it's starting to become a favorite of mine Also, just because it's a crack fic doesn't mean it's badly written. One of my favorite authors does an excellent job with them. Despite them being crack, the characters are still like themselves. You can almost see them reacting that way. Here's her profile: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/17903/fireflyThe great thing about crack is that it stimulates the imagination. It's gets people to think out-of-the-box.

Mostly they're stupid, but I'll read them for lack of anything to do.
As for crack pairings, if I'm currently in a 'this is the pairing I support, argue and die' mindset... not such a good thing. However, I've actually discovered quite a few that I like thanks to late-night sugar rushes compelling me to read stuff I'd normally gag upon contact with.

Crack fics...so many of them just leave you either numb and unable to give a review or simply turn all logical parts of your mind off in a fit of laughter that has no relevance. They do have some uses though...mainly as being a way to just let go of yourself and enjoy something so utterly ridiculous it's hard to really express in words, or a good cool down from working/reading something quite intense.
As for crack pairings...never was a fan of that type of story in the first place, so no opinions on that.

J'adore crack pairings. whee Namely Sakura/Kiba. Although, then I feel sorry for Naruto 'cause I love Sakura/Naruto too. stare
Crack FanFics? Not my style. I like the occasional AU but not the Cracks.

Maybe you think that if you read "AnĂ³nimo" rofl
That's one of the reasons why it is only a one shot, it's a "crack" idea.

crack fics are really fun to read hahaha. I've actually seen a few that were well written ampute smut is a good one and there are a few others. I like to write crack fics to get out some of my sillier thoughts when i'm writing a drama. Well...............hmmmmmm....best of luck to ya. heart

I really like crack-fics. But if there horribly off I wont review them. Considering I really like way off pairing (EX: NejTem) crack pairings seem to be the way to go. Though while some stories make me twitch and feel ill, I just click the mighty back button and leave it for some one who likes those stories. Basicly I like crack pairings, I can't do Cannon pairings, rarely do they click.

Sometimes it seems like the most creative people are the people who write for crack pairings. Most of which I also love to bits.

I tend to like crack situational fics moreso than crack pairings, if that makes any sense. Crack pairings are fun, but I've just never been one to be that fond of romance at all. Put a bunch of characters into a situation or a setting that just couldn't happen and then see where things go from there... That, I adore. Trying to use reason in an unreasonable setting. Can't get enough of it. x3 I guess I just love to stress, agonize, and otherwise mercilessly pummel my favorite characters.
It's both a gift and a curse. (:

I don't like them, I find that if you are going to post something up, let it be something worth the time it took you to write it and the reading and reviewing of others. Input from a crack fic is just as useless as the fic is - and pointless to post in my opinion. Sure they might be fun to write or a way to just vent some random ideas out - but that doesn't mean you need to need to post them up. I write tons of short random scenes - I rarely use them for anything but I write them out anyways.
