Light hooves pounded elegantly against the ground, sending small vibrations through the earth as the animal shifted its weight periodically, sauntering forward with its head held high. This wasn't an expression of dominance, or even an external display of cockiness, but essential for the creature to forward its senses, distancing himself further then his physical body. Velvet ears swiveled to their furthest point forward before the left switched pointing now south then west. His movement was fluid and beautiful. One impressive attribute of the stag was the notable rack he sported the same branch color of his pointed hooves that danced forward. Teal eyes were also animated. With each turn of his muzzle he glanced in another directly, observing the vast surroundings about him with a gentle ease.
Some might call this sense of tranquil composure stupidity; after all, did he not know he was prancing through a herd territory? And to make matters even stickier for the young fellow, it was Anlach, the rutting season. This hardly nicked the young deer, used to passing through territories more often then not sticking straight with his path without wavering away nor even settling down for a long rest, but even so he was cautious enough to keep a weather eye open for a potential confrontation.
And was Anlach his reason for being here within the Fire Bringer herd lands in the fleeting hopes of claiming himself a hind? No, this was certainly not his intention. He had no longing to ignite a rivalry between another male, nor for any hind within the premises, but if an Outrider were to fall upon him what would be the consequence? Would he be hurled into a battle, or taken to the Head of Herd? Or would they hear his plight and allow him passage? Cavan, as he was called, wanted none of this only hoping to move without a speck of notice.
Reaching the tip of a sturdy knoll, he paused, balancing his legs beneath him while his sticking eyes glanced out over the gentle dale below that sloped down at a slight descent. Trees were scattered here and there, jutting from the ground brilliantly like pillars that held up the baby blue sky. This was the perfect place to raise young allowing him to understood fully why the lands were so populated with his kind. The tender land was generous even when predators lurked within the woods beyond and with a herd as large as this, carnivores hardly seemed an immediate issue. It was a little sliver of paradise.

Maysa was certainly not as absent-minded as her mother could be; in fact, she was quite the levelheaded girl. But now and then her beloved stories, told to her by both the storyteller and her mother, would intrude on her thoughts and cause her to loose track of when and where she was. Starbuck was simply marvellous to her, a mythic deer whose adventures she would listen to with bated breath, even after hearing them for the tenth time.
The young hind was in one of those odd moments; her mind far way from what was actually happening and so it was that Maysa ended up wandering further away from the home valley than she usually did. Much further. The brown-coated hind was in no way an adventurous creature. She preferred to keep close to all the other hinds, talking and ruminating the day away.
As she finally realized that she had reached an area far from the comfort of the herd, Maysa felt a quiver of fear. Taking in a soft breath she scented the air, letting the common smells and the grass beneath her comfort her. It would be all right. She couldn’t be too far out and there was bound to be an Outrider nearby who would quickly notice her and escort her back home.
Taking a soft elegant step froward, she lifted her long neck and sniffed at the air again, ears swivelling to catch the faintest of noises. But it was her eyes that found what she wanted first. On a grassy knoll not too far away was a stag. She had never seen him before but that didn’t mean much. Maysa didn’t have contact with any males; there were only the occasional visits from her father (and they certainly didn’t come very often anymore).
The hind immediately began moving toward the stag, feeling a little sheepish that she could get lost when she probably wasn’t even far from home. She could probably find her way back easily but at the moment she felt too nervous to even try. Maysa really wanted to be near somebody else.
“Excuse me?” She soft voice called out as she approached, ears perked up hopefully. Would she be in trouble? Oh, she hoped not.
Ooc: I hope you don’t mind this. XP The post better make sense too. xD

((I don't mind at all and I thought your post was lovely ^.^))
The light taps of four more hooves soon reached his ears while the vibrations echoed beneath his own, forcing him to draw his eyes upward over the gentle landscape. A brown nose flew upward, tickled by the air that moved through it sending him little messages before his teal eyes ever laid on the lovely young hind. Golden ears pulled back while his brain processed the information he was given and mapped out the options he could take. An easy way out would be to simply run. But that didn't seem polite nor was it in his personality to leave the young doe behind without so much as a little word of assistance. But what if her presence meant that other deer were about; what if they were stags? Immediately his heart started to pound heavy in his chest giving the flight creature the incentive to bolt.
Confrontation wasn't the stag's forte, nor would he deliberately put himself into a position he knew would be potentially deadly. Finding himself in a populated area during Anlach wasn't a wise move on his part, he just hoped the rook wouldn't take out his king.
The hind quickly approached him. Watching her, a soft smile peeked on his youthful visage forming in its usual place shining simply. He didn't mind company and on many different levels he would probably enjoy very much to get to know the youthful female, but the circumstances forced a weary eye to be shown. But as he examined her melodious tone he came to understand something. Did she need assistance? He couldn't just leave her there if that were so. Swiveling his ears forward he then took a single step forward.
"Good evening," he spoke gently, "May I help you?" By the tone of her voice he was sure she needed something, but what? Would she ask if he belonged to the herd? Did she know he was an intruder?

Most of the herd was busy with Anlach, and Brychan was no exception. After his encounter with a rogue male the other day, the outrider captain was particularly alert. Not only when concerning his own hinds, but many of the others that loitered about. It was his duty after all, to protect the members of the herd. Thus, when he managed to catch a glimpse of one lone hind slipping away, the starry pelted stag sighed heavily. He wasnted to stay as close to his hinds as possible, but well... duty called.
He didn't seem in a particular hurry though as he followed after the hind, yet his eyes were glancing back and forth, keeping an eye out for that rogue is he was still about. Hinds that wandered, could fall prey to stags such as he.
However, when he crested the hill and caught sight of the hind, he blinked and paused. There was a stag he didn't know.. but it wasn't the white stag that had given him trouble over Telyn earlier. The captain snorted and stomped a hoof. Brows furrowed and ears turned forward. He bellowed once to make his presence known, but didn't take an aggressive stance just yet. If this stag knew what was good for him, he'd stand down and back away from the hind that was a member of his herd.
(( I hope you don't mind me joining in.. although it says ORP X3 ))

When his genteel voice reached her ears Maysa gave the smallest of relieved sighs, even if he wasn’t happy with her wandering away from the herd, he sounded nice and not likely to yell. Quickly she crossed the space left between them, before coming to a halt before the stag. She offered him a bright, happy smile.
“Thankyou, I…” Maysa’s voice trailed off, as once again she felt a flush of embarrassment at having managed to get herself lost. Oh, how silly she was. Her ears flickered back as she stared at the ground, apparently finding the grass infinitely fascinating. It took her a moment, but she eventually got over her awkwardness, thinking that if she didn’t say something soon the stag would probably just walk off.
Head coming up, she smiled again. “I’m sorry, but could you point me in the direction of the main herd? I… I’ve gotten myself a little lost.” Maysa was beginning to feel a little better now. Before the urge to panic had been strong but the close proximity of another deer had calmed her immensely.
There was a sudden bellow. At the sound Maysa nearly jumped out of her skin in surprise. She jumped sideways, body poised for flight. When she saw the dark coated stag a little farther away she frowned softly in confusion. Oh dear… he wasn’t angry with her was he? That must be it. She took a little step back but then stopped herself and gathered her resolve.
Ooc: Thanks. ^.^ Welcome o’lord. ;D

((I don't mind at all, in fact it's a pleasure to have you join ^__^))
Her tranquil and youthful tone was a melody to his ears and his soft smile stayed in place as she showed a smile of her own. Cavan was thankful. Maysa was kind with her words suggesting she bore no ill will toward him; perhaps this herd was friendly. Then again, maybe she didn't realize he was an outsider. Whatever the reason, Cavan relaxed just slightly, feeling far more comfortable now then before.
Her comment was simple and her question was undoubtedly doable...the only problem he had with it was the request and the danger in involved for him. But turning her down was a task as well, one he didn't look forward to. "I'd love to show you your way back, Ma'am," he added politely despite her youth, ''however I am in your same position. I don't-" His answer was struck in the middle and torn through as the bellow ripped through the air. Teal eyes flashed toward the source of the sound igniting reluctance within his body.
Another stag had finally showed. Swiveling his ears forward, his legs spread readying him to bolt of called upon. Controlled breathing pushed through his mauve colored nose giving him an expression of subtle worry. What were the stag’s intentions? On closer inspection Cavan was marveled observing atop the bull's head a royal rack of many points signifying his rank could be nothing less then Lord of herd or Captain of the guard. How magnificent he looked. There was no other option for the youth but to submit.
Bowing his head respectfully, Cavan watched him. Every few seconds he glanced toward the female, wondering what her opinion was of this matter. She seemed just as ruffled as he.

Brychan is a reasonable stag, although the first thought going through his mind was that he hoped this wasn't another situation like with Dorcheira. Although.. atleast this stag was still... you know.. in the flesh. He really didn't want to have to deal with it, but he would if he must. Hinds sneaking around and meeting up with rogues, wasn't good for their herd after all.
"What's going on here?" he asked, calmly approaching the both of them and looking from one to the other. He'd had a rogue challenge him for one of his hinds only a few short days ago, and thus, his suspicion was high. It was the Anlach season after all. Thus, Brychan narrowed his eyes slightly at the brown stag. Hormones were high, and his desire to protect the hinds of the herd were stronger than ever. This wasn't the best time of year for a rogue to show up on the Firebringer's doorstep.
Atleast he was respectful, Brychan would give him that. If he could send this fellow off on his way without conflict, he'd much rather prefer that than an all out brawl. A glance was given towards Maysa as well. He wasn't angry with her really... although he might remind her that wandering away from the her was not a good idea, especially right now.
(( Thanky much. n_n ))

Maysa was feeling ruffled and anxious. Ears swivelling back she watched Brychan’s approach with a growing frown. She was wishing that this other stag had not turned up. Everything had been working out fine; she probably would have been back before anyone else noticed, but now that hope had been ruined. Casting a quick look at Cavan, noticing the way he shifted his body nervously, she then turned to face Brychan.
If she were to get in trouble, well, that was all right. Maysa took a step forward and cleared her throat to get the large stags attention. She squashed her natural shyness and attempted to raise the tone of her voice when she spoke. “I got lost.” She announced, and though she managed the ‘I’ well enough her voice only got softer and softer with each word. “This nice stag was going to help me fine the way back.”
The hind stopped talking, but she didn’t let her gaze drop. Her green eyes sought Brychan’s. Maysa really didn’t like the look that the dark stag had given Cavan, and though she didn’t quite understand what it meant, she preferred to keep most of the attention on herself if she could. “I’m sorry.”

Pulling back tightly, the pair of velvet ears lay still against his head in what some would say a canine submissive fashion. His teal eyes were wide, laced with anticipation if not worry for the reaction of the larger bull whose intentions were little more then an enigma to the young stag. The bowed head slowly, graciously, rose to a comfortable position not poised to observe the two deer now in his presence which was so used to isolation. Were this another time, perhaps even a different area this may have been a far more pleasant gathering…but considering things were as they were he would deal with them as presented.
His maw opened to speak but before a word could be explained he turned to stare at the female amazed by her sudden words and grateful for every one. Maysa was kind indeed. And it would have been truthful if he hadn’t had his reserves after all, Cavan had wanted to help the female and probably would have given in and showed her the humble way back to the herd had the turn of events not concluded as they had.
But would Brychan believe her? Certainly he had nothing to prove her words were false and how could he have any ill will toward the hind? Besides, his expression did not speak of fierce malevolence but instead impatient fairness. Perhaps he wasn’t as unlucky as he presumed but instead would slip through the valley without any further interruptions after this.

A skeptical brow was raised at Maysa. Lost? He looked as if he'd heard that one before. Being that Brychan had a harem full of hinds with wanderlust, he didn't entirely believe that... but. The two were being resonable enough, thus he'd had no real reason to get upset with either... not yet anyway.
"Indeed?" he asked, turning his gaze from Maysa to the stag in question. He looked him up an down, knowing a rogue when he saw one. "Tell me.. what are your intentions here, for surely you know there is a herd nearby?" The rogue would do best to choose his words wisely. He had nothing against showing this fellow on his way, knowing his place. After all.. Brychan had a duty to his herd. Allowing something to happen to one of the hinds during Anlach, would certainly be a bad mark on his record. But he would hear him out, especially since this fellow was showing proper respect and not getting roudy.

Maysa didn’t miss Brychan’s disbelief when she told him she had gotten lost, and felt a sharp stab of annoyance. She was not a hind who lied, in any situation. What possible reason could she have to wander away from her family and beloved herd? It had been an accident, a simple lapse of conscious thought as she got caught up in the old lore. But she didn’t say anything, just let her gaze drop away to the ground and gave a soft sigh.
Keeping her mouth shut seemed to be the best option as the larger stag began to address Cavan. Butting in now would probably get both of them in trouble. Maysa watched both of the stags carefully, slowly becoming confused as she listened to Brychan’s words. Well of course the stag would know there was a herd nearby, unless… Oh.
Well, that would explain this dark coated stags behaviour, if her new friend were a rogue that was. Maysa inspected the possibility and quickly found that if it were true it really didn’t change a thing.

He heard the ring of skepticism in the bull stag’s tone but even as he had done so Maysa’s reaction seemed to be the correct response; arguing never gained anything and pacifism did have its benefits. Teal eyes searched the stag once more before flitting to the female, observing her actions as well wondering what it was that was going through her mind or if she knew Brychan. Clearly it didn’t seem they were too familiar, but from the same herd. This wasn’t anything out of the ordinary; in fact it was quite the custom for males and female to live apart from the herd for periods of time only to collect during Anlach in large numbers.
And then the questions were directed toward him. Cavan stood his ground, holding stiff but brilliantly free all the same without showing any disrespect for the unnamed stag.
“Yes sir, I am aware a herd is near but my intentions were not to uproot any of the members of your herd. I was aiming to pass straight through if that would be possible. As you can imagine it’s rather difficult to travel when it’s mandatory for me to pass through herd land in order to reach a no-man’s land on the other side,” his voice was level, young and smooth.

He was only skeptical.. for it was not as if he was blantantly accusing anyone one of anything. Besides... how is he to know? All he knows is that a hind from his herd is in the presence of a rogue stag, and well.. that looks bad, you know.
Brychan lifted a brow at the stag's words, "Pass through? If it were any time but Anlach, I might agree... but well, you seem to have bad timing." It would not be wise to let a foreign stag pass through the herd within reach of the females. As honest as this fellow might be, there was always the risk of temptation, and he didn't know this stag.. so he couldn't trust him completely. He would not be played for a fool.
"I'm sorry.. but you'll have to go around." And its not as if it would be extremely inconvenient for him to do so.. infact he was somewhat surprised he would even ask. When boundaries are made, those boundaries are to tell outsiders were not to go. Anlach is an important time of the year, and this was not the time to make mistakes. He wouldn't believe that this fellow was so ignorant.. of the time of year, especially.

That settled it then. This nice, handsome stag was indeed a rogue. Maysa watched him with new interest now. She was, after all, quite the lover of stories and in those stories many a strong, wise rogue stag was featured. What would be like to live as a wanderer? Even though Maysa knew she was not the adventurous type and even being this short way from home made her nervous, she could still imagine.
Then Brychan’s words sunk in. The brown-coated hind gave a soft disappointed, ‘Oh’. She had been hoping to talk with Cavan a little, ask him questions about his life. But she also knew how things worked. A lone stag wouldn’t be wanted anywhere near the herd, especially during Anlach, and if this large guy said he had to go well… who was going to argue with that?
Green eyes watched Cavan sympathetically before turning to Brychan, her expression interested. She wasn’t entirely sure who he was within the herd, but he must have a pretty high rank amongst the Outriders. A captain? Maybe she would find out later, but first she wanted to say goodbye to her friendly stag. Figuring Brychan would make Cavan leave soon, she quickly piped up with “My name is Maysa It was nice to meet you.”

Brychan's expression was enough to inform the stag that his request was not to be granted well before the words slipped through his maw. It was respectable, perfectly agreeable, but still inconvenient for Cavan. All the same he wouldn't so lightly disobey the stag's "order". A small sigh escaped him. Those vibrant eyes made no wide expression nor narrowed down in defiance accepting what was to come for what it was seeing no benefit in declaring his right of a straight passage through the herd land fully understanding and appreciating Brychan's reasoning. He had already anticipated his options.
"I understand sir," he commented before he turned to look at the young female whose vigor and gentle placidness was refreshing to the golden tinted male. A spark of a smile returned to his face, giving him a light expression as Maysa offered her name and a friendly greeting which was missed at their initial meeting.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Maysa, I'm titled Cavan," he started glancing back to Brychan, addressing this to him as well, "May I ask, sir, for future reference if needed, what is your name?"
