-Dreams Made Flesh- Based off the fantasy novel series "The Black Jewels Trilogy" by Anne Bishop, I bring to you a roleplay that will be a follow-up to the series.
The Black Jewels Trilogy is set in a unique world of three parallel Realms: Terreille, Kaeleer, and Hell. The people of these realms are the Blood (those with magic) and the landens (those who do not have magic)
Blood society is based on an elaborate system of two intertwined but inherently different facets of individual Blood rank. The first of these is caste rank, which determines what type of Blood male or female you are. This system is also based around the Jewels of the Blood. These jewels determine the amount of magical power each Blood male and female can wield, and the depth into the abyss they can descend to.
The Blood are the rulers, meant to govern, control, and protect the land and people in their care (Blood and landens alike). Blood society is a matriarchal society, where the ruling power belongs to the females (mostly the Queens), while the role of males is to serve and protect. The landens (normal humans with no magical ability) are at the lowest end of the caste system and are not Blood, but are protected by them.
Blood society is very hierarchical and is earth-centered.
There is no law against murder in Blood society, as aggression and violence is a natural part of their culture. Slavery and torture are also legal and considered a "normal" part of life in the Realms.
There are a series of protocols and Blood Laws that help to make Blood society a functioning civilization. Blood who do not follow these rules and who embrace greed and gluttony risk becoming "tainted".
While there are many cities, the Blood Realms are a mostly agricultural based society. They have a low-tech civilization similar to that of an pre-industrial age, with Craft (magic) taking the place of electricity. All information found at this site for your viewing pleasure. ^^-Introduction--Systems--Location--Characters--Rules--Submissions-

-Magic System- Castes
Members of various races in the three realms who are infused with magic are known as the Blood. In the case of non-human, or non-dragon races (such as what would appear to be regular animals) they are known as Kindred as well as Blood.
The Blood are further divided by sex, social class, and caste.
The following is a list of the Blood castes in ascending order of rank:
Male Castes
• Blood Male: Refers to any Blood male who does not wear Jewels. A Blood Male can perform basic Craft but cannot reach the level of the Jewels. Blood Males are not guaranteed a Jewel at their Birthright Ceremony as other castes are; they can receive any Birthright color of Jewel though. A Blood Male can also try again to receive a Jewel, once he is older, by making the Offering to the Darkness. The darkest Jewel a Blood Male without a Birthright Jewel can receive at the Offering is Yellow. If a Blood Male does receive a Jewel, he becomes a Warlord, if not he remains a Blood Male. They very rarely rise to the "killing edge" and never experience rut.
Blood male (with a low case "m" in male) is also a general term for all males of the Blood. The need to serve has been bred into Blood males since the dawn of their time. They cannot be emotionally whole with out it. A strong love-bond can ease the hunger for service; all Blood males need one or the other. All males of the Blood (whether they wear Jewels or not) can serve Coven or Court, or enter into personal service. A strong Jeweled Blood male may rule territory in the absence of a Queen, or in service to his Queen.
• Warlord: A Warlord is any Jeweled male who does not belong to the other hierarchical levels, equal in status to a witch. Warlords are born Blood Males and become Warlords once they receive their Jewel. They rise to the Killing Edge only when greatly provoked and go into rut only a few times in their lifetime.
• Prince: A Jeweled male equal in status with Healers and Priestesses, one step lower than a Black Widow, one step higher than witches and Warlords. A Prince is born into his caste, and thus is guaranteed a Jewel, but not what strength the Jewel may be. He must go through the Birthright ceremony and make the Offering to the Darkness to receive his Jewel. Princes are more aggressive and territorial than Warlords are, and are thus quicker to anger and rise to the Killing Edge. They experience the rut once or twice a decade.
• Warlord Prince: A Jeweled male higher in status than a Black Widow, but lower than a Queen. Warlord Princes are the highest ranked, and also most rare, male caste. A Warlord Prince is born into his caste, and thus is guaranteed a Jewel, but not what strength the Jewel may be. He must go through the Birthright ceremony and make the Offering to the Darkness to receive his Jewel. The most territorial and sexual males of the Blood, they are extremely aggressive and dangerous. Warlord Princes have the strongest need to bond in service and/or love-bond. They rise to the Killing Edge quickly, easily and without warning. Warlord Princes go into rut once or twice a year. Warlord Princes are considered "law unto themselves". A strong Warlord Prince can rule a territory in the absence of a Queen.
Female Castes
• Blood Female: Mostly refers to any Blood female who doesn’t wear Jewels. Blood Females can do all basic Craft but cannot reach the level of the Jewels. Blood Females are not guaranteed a Jewel at their Birthright Ceremony as other castes are; they can receive any Birthright color of Jewel though. A Blood Female can also try again to receive a Jewel, once she is older, by making the Offering to the Darkness. The darkest Jewel a Blood female with no Birthright Jewel can receive at the Offering is Yellow. If a Blood Female does receive a Jewel, she becomes a witch. If not she remains a Blood Female. Blood Females can serve Coven or Court, or enter into personal service.
Also a general term for all females of the Blood when used with a lower case "f".
• witch: A Blood female who wears Jewels but isn’t a member of the other hierarchical levels. This can also refer to any Jeweled female. A witch is born a Blood Female and becomes a witch once she receives a Jewel, either at her Birthright Ceremony or Offering to the Darkness. A witch will sometimes specialize in a particular side of the Craft such as hearth or garden. Witches can serve in Covens (such as the Coven of the Hourglass, the "Guilds" within the Realms) or Courts, or enter into personal service. A talented witch may be able to train to become a Healer, Priestess or Black widow, but this is rare.
• Healer: A witch who tends physical wounds and illnesses, born with the instincts to comfort and heal. They are higher in status than a witch or Warlord, equal to Priestesses and Princes. Healers have the strongest ties to the Body. They are the doctors, nurses, midwives, and even veterinarians in Blood society. Healers are highly respected amongst the Blood for they will often sacrifice their own health/safety to heal others. A Healer is born into her caste, and thus is guaranteed a Jewel, but not what strength the Jewel may be. She must go through the Birthright ceremony and make the Offering to the Darkness to receive a Jewel. Some witches may train to be Healers. Healers can serve Covens or Courts, or enter into personal service, though often they will set up a practice of their own. All Healers must have at least one Jeweled male in personal service to her, in order to ensure her safety and protection.
• Priestess: A witch who cares for altars, Sanctuaries, and Dark Altars; they are the most spiritual of the female castes, leading the celebrations during holidays and religious ceremonies. Equal in status with Healers and Princes, Priestesses have the strongest ties to the Self or Soul. A Priestess witnesses handfastings and marriages, performs funeral rites and offerings, and provides spiritual counsel for her community. A Priestess is born into her caste, and thus is guaranteed a Jewel, but not what strength the Jewel may be. She must go through the Birthright ceremony and make the Offering to the Darkness to receive a Jewel. Some witches may train to be Priestesses. Every Priestess can serve in an Altar, Coven, or Court, or enter into personal service. All Priestesses must have at least one Jeweled male in personal service to her, in order to ensure her safety and protection.
• Black Widow: A witch who heals the mind, weaves the tangled webs of dreams and visions, and is trained in illusions and poisons. They can divine the future, create powerful illusions, effect other people's dreams, and are highly empathic. They are trained to read, attack and heal minds. All Black Widows possess a snake tooth and deadly venom underneath their ringer fingers. Black Widows are considered to be the most dangerous and sexual of the Blood female castes. Equal in status to none, Black Widows answer only to Queens, Warlord Princes, and other Black Widows of a darker Jewel rank. Black Widows have the strongest ties to the Mind and the Twisted Kingdom. Although a Black Widow is apparent at birth, and they may show some signs in childhood, they do not truly have the Craft or physical traits of a Black Widow until the onset of puberty. Such traits are increased empathy, lucid or prophetic dreaming, the snake tooth under the right ring finger along with the ability to naturally produce venom, immunity to many poisons and venom, and a slight change in physic scent. A Black Widow is born into her caste, and thus is guaranteed a Jewel, but not what strength the Jewel may be. She must go through the Birthright ceremony and make the Offering to the Darkness to receive a Jewel. Some witches may train to be Black Widows. Every Black Widow must train and serve at her territory’s Coven of the Hourglass; she can also serve in a Court or enter into personal service, or have a private practice. All Black Widows must have at least one Jeweled male in personal service to her, in order to ensure her safety and protection. A strong Black Widow can rule territory in the absence of a Queen.
• Queen: A witch who rules the Blood. She is considered to be the land’s heart and the Blood’s moral center; she is the focal point of their society. They are the highest ranked females and most rare of all the castes. Queens tend to the land, being the only ones who have the Craft to heal the land after it has been damaged or tainted. They have the strongest ties to the Land/Earth and the Blood itself. Queens are born with the instinct to protect their land, territory, and people. A Queen is born into her caste, and thus is guaranteed a Jewel, but not what strength the Jewel may be. She must go through the Birthright ceremony and make the Offering to the Darkness to receive a Jewel. A witch of another caste can not train to become a Queen. All Queens must have at least one Jeweled male in personal service to her in order to ensure her safety and protection. A Queen’s very strength, psychic scent, and nature will draw strong males to her, from which she chooses her court. A Queen may serve in another’s Court, and this is common for light Jeweled Queens. Also, young Queens may serve in another’s to gain experience. To make a claim to rule a territory, a Queen must have a Court consisting of at least 12 Blood males, have made the Offering to the Darkness, and be of at least 20 years of age. To confirm the position, a majority of the other ruling Queens in that Territory must acknowledge her. If a Queen challenges another or more than one Queen vie for the same throne, a general election is held. A Queen can rule a Township, District, Province, or Territory. They may as well hold a small, independent, non-ruling court.
Spells
The Blood can wield their magic to create various effects, such as communicate mentally using what they call "threads", raise sight shields to become invisible, walk through walls, levitate animate and inanimate objects, vanish inanimate objects to an extradimensional space to reappear later upon command, and project raw magical or psychic force. The Blood can also create magical potions, poisons, and artifacts which have a variety of uses, and drugs made from herbs that can be used to block a person's power by making them mentally incapable.
To travel the Blood can levitate, or (with wings or magic) fly. In addition the Blood can use the various magical webs that link the realms together to travel. The darker the colour of the web the faster it is to travel on it. Each colour of web corresponds to the colour of a jewel. Also the Blood may travel between realms using Dark Altars. Through a ceremony there they may travel from one dark altar to a parallel Dark Altar in a different realm.
There are 3 "professions" of the Blood that use spells uncommon to the normal Blood. There are Priestesses, who lead religious rites, Healers, who can cast healing spells, and Black Widows, witches who can deal with the mind and can weave and read tangled webs. A tangled web is a piece of magic enabling the Black Widow to look into the future and have visions. It differs from normal webs of magic that the normal Blood cast. Aside from that, Black Widows can also take a mental step to the border of the Twisted Kingdom, allowing them see truths and draw memories from wood and stone.
With spells the darker the Jewel the Blood wears, the more potent the magic they have available. However, every Jewel Rank has a range of strength, and thus one Red-Jeweled witch could be slightly stronger than another. Both intelligence and creativy also go a long way towards what one can do with the power they possess.
Jewels
Most members of the Blood are gifted with a Birthright Jewel, and then later in life an Offering or Blood Jewel. These can be cut or uncut. Cut Jewels are Jewels that are thought to have been used before by someone now dead, and may come already set into jewelery. Uncut Jewels are unused and probably larger, and are hence more powerful than their cut counterparts. Uncut Jewels come directly from the scales of Lorn (the Dragon Prince) himself. An uncut Jewel is large enough to make a pendant, a stone for a ring and two small chips that may be placed in any manner of setting. Cut Jewels seem to come as pendant and ring stones, but not as often with the chips as well.
Dark Jewels are rare compared to light ones, and whole generations can go by with no one wearing the Black.
The Blood can channel magic without possessing a stone, but their Jewels store reservoirs of power not otherwise available to them.
The darker a Jewel is, the stronger and more potent magic it contains, which in turn can be used by its wearer. This means that a dark Jewelled shield would be able to hold out against a lighter Jewelled attack. However, members of the Blood can link their powers together to overcome a higher Jewelled wearer if need be. If a person uses all of the power stored in a Jewel, it is called "drained" and that person must rest and wait for it to recharge naturally. Channeling power through a Jewel can take a physical toll, and people who channel too much power at one time often find themselves weak, thin, and exhausted afterward. Those with very dark Jewels can seriously risk their health and even their own lives if they channel too much power to fast.
The darkest Jewels one can receive for a Birthright is Red, with the exception of Janelle. The Birthright ceremony is performed at an altar, usually by a Priestess, and occurs in early childhood. The Birthright ceremony is also when the father of the child is officially and legally recognized as such and can therefore claim the rights and responsibilities that a father in Blood society has for a child. A child who does not have a father recognized at his/hers Birthright Ceremony is considered illegitimate, or a "b*****d".
Through the Offering to the Darkness, the Blood can earn Jewels up to three levels darker than their Birthright Jewel. Tapping into these deeper or darker reservoirs is called "descending", (e.g. Birthright White could descend to Rose) and darker stones allow for more potent magic. Uncut and cut Jewels also apply to this ceremony. The Offering to the Darkness occurs at the end of puberty into early adulthood, it is also performed at an altar with or without the assistance of a Priestess. This is basically when the Blood male or female enters the altar, and descends into the abyss as far as they can. Although the Birthright Jewel is placed on the altar as an "offering" it remains on the altar, the new Blood Jewel appearing beside it. The Offering to the Darkness cannot be made twice. If a Blood male or female has problems on the day of the Offering and do not descend to their full potential, there is no way to reverse the change.
The colours of the Jewels are, in order of increasing strength:
* White * Yellow * Tiger Eye * Rose * Summer-sky * Purple Dusk * Opal*
Note: Opal is the dividing line between darker and lighter jewels because it can be either.
* Green * Sapphire * Red * Gray * Ebon-gray * Black * Ebony * Twilight's Dawn
Note: Ebony is darker than the Black, which was formerly the darkest known Jewel and was almost unheard of being in someone's possession. It is the jewel one receives when making an Offering to the Darkness with 13 uncut Black jewels. The Twilight's Dawn Jewel is unique to Jaenelle. Later on in the series it is revealed that this jewel is like a combination of the jewels from Rose to Black. It represents Janelle's desire to be "not so different from everyone else" (See Dreams Made Flesh: Kaeleer's Heart), and its strength levels reflect the psychic webs that Janelle was wrapped in by Saetan, Lucivar, and Daemon while absorbing the backlash of her Ebony strength at the end of "Queen of the Darkness." Twilight's Dawn was given to Jaenelle by Lorn as an unformed Jewel, delivered to her by Ladvarian, a kindred dog, and friend of Jaenelle and the Coven.
Mythology & Religion
The Blood believe they are the stewards of the Earth, meant to be the protectors of nature and the non-Blood (the landen) who share the Realms with them. In the series, the main antogonists have turned most of society away from this belief, encouraging greed and gluttony, causing the Blood to become "tainted."
In the Black Jewels series of books, there are three major "religious" concepts which contribute to the society of the blood.
The first is the "Darkness". It is the literal absence of light, night, the darkness associated with fertile soil and a woman's womb, as well as the primordial chaos from which life emerges and ultimately returns.
The second is "Witch", or rather "Dreams Made Flesh". Witch's soul and fate is fashioned by the dreams, prayers and wishes of members of the Blood. Witch is a kind of Saviour or Saint-like figure to the Blood. Witch can be any female caste or wear any Jewel, depending on the dreams that made her. For example, if a plague was sweeping the Realms, people would dream of a brilliant Healer who would find a cure, and if the dreams are strong enough, and the Weavers of Dreams weave right, such a Healer would be born to fulfill that destiny. In the case of Jaenelle as Witch, she was fashioned from the dreams of all the non-tainted Blood.
The next is "Mother Night". Often used as an expression of shock, she seems to be a female archetype for the Blood - some sort of manifestation of the Darkness, similar to fertility goddesses as Mother Earth.
The Blood practice a kind of dark, pagan spirituality that places a great deal of reverence for the Darkness, and the worship of the Earth and nature. The rituals and religion in the series seems to be based loosely upon the pagan religions of ancient Europe and modern day Neo-Paganism.
The Blood believe that when they die, they return to the Darkness (unless they have become demon dead) and then reincarnate eventually.

-Location- The world is divided into realms, much like dimensions or planes of existence. Within each realm are many territories. Terreille - The Realm of Light
This is the realm which is most like Earth. It is one of the living realms, and society is much like a harsh medieval culture combined with the refinement of the aristocracy class of 18th century Europe. The coven of Dorothea SaDiablo has eliminated most of the dark-Jewelled Blood, primarily Queens, in Terreille. As a result, many places do not have their own Queens or are ruled by Dorothea's puppet Queens. In some cases they are ruled by councils of Blood males, regardless of the capacity of the local Queens.
Each region is ruled by a Queen. Most of the Realm is controlled directly or indirectly by Dorothea SaDiablo.
* Hayll - Home of the Hundred Families. Its capital is Draega. Hayll has no Queen, and is ruled by High Priestess Dorothea SaDiablo. * Chaillot - Island Territory. Its Queen is Alexandra Angelline and its capital is Beldon Mor. Alexandra is only a puppet Queen; the real ruling force is a council of males. * Shalador - Its Queen was Shal many hundreds of years before the beginning of the trilogy; she united the tribes of Shalador. * Raej - a Territory known for its annual slave fair. * Tacea - An island near Cassandra's Altar. Cassandra's Altar was built in honour of the Queen of the same name. * Dena Nehele - Its Queen was Lia. Formerly Grizelle. (Pre-trilogy) * Dhemlan - Exists in all three Realms. Formerly ruled by Saetan SaDiablo, and home to Manny's cottage. One of the last realms still fighting Dorothea's influence. * Askavi - A mountainous Territory which is the home of the Keep and exists in both Terreille and Kaeleer. Home of the Eyrian race and currently ruled by High Priestess Prythian. Also contains the Khaldharon Run and the Blood Run. * Ebon Askavi - Also called the Keep and the Black Mountain, it exists in all three Realms and is the repository of all the Blood's long history, as well as a sanctuary for dark-Jewelled Blood. The home of Witch, it is traditionally ruled by a Queen with Black Jewels. Previously Jaenelle Angelline was Queen, and Cassandra before her. * Ebon Rih - The Black Valley, it is the Keep's Territory and exists in all three Realms. * Pruul - A desert Territory. Its Queen is Zuultah. * Ruins of SaDiablo Hall - A former home of Saetan SaDiablo, located in Dhemlan. * Briarwood - A hospital in Beldon Mor run by Robert Benedict. Kartane SaDiablo helped create it. Many young witches are subjected to perverse tortures which either drive them mad, kill them, or both. * Zuulman - This is a Territory which no longer exists (Dreams Made Flesh). After the murder of his third child, Saeten descended into the Twisted Kingdom and destroyed this territory, by use of an unspecified Black Widow spell. Not only was the Territory completely destroyed, but all evidence of their existence (books, pottery, art forms, everything including the Registry Books held at the Keep) simply disappeared. Stop reading this, it doesn't exist
Kaeleer - The Shadow Realm
Kaeleer is also one of the living realms, but its closer proximity to the Darkness makes it a much "wilder" place than Terreille. Alongside the human territories are kindred ones, which are closed to humans and considered mythical (or unclaimed) in the minds of many.
* Arachna - Territory ruled by golden kindred spiders. They are all natural Black Widows. Their Queen is called the Weaver of Dreams. * Arceria - Territory bordering Glacia, ruled by large kindred cats known as Arcerian cats, who have pure white fur. * Askavi - A mountainous Territory which is the home of the Keep and exists in both Terreille and Kaeleer. Kaeleer-Askavi is presumely ruled by Andulvar Yaslana. Also contains the Khaldharon Run and the Blood Run. * Centauran - Territory ruled by centaurs. Their Queen is Astar. * Dea al Mon - A closed, woodland Territory inhabited by a fierce elf-like race who share the same name. Their Queen is Gabrielle. * Dharo - A Territory famous for its woven goods, particularly rugs. Its Queen is Sabrina. * Dhemlan - Exists in both Terreille and Kaeleer. Ruled by the Warlord Prince of Dhemlan and High Lord of Hell, Saetan SaDiablo. The Kaeleer capital is Amdarh. Includes the villages of Agio, Riada and Doun. Ruled by Prince Lucivar Yaslana. * Fyreborn Islands - Territory ruled by the "little dragons", kindred cousins of the Dragons. * Glacia - A wintery Territory. Its Queen is Karla. A Dark Altar is located within this Territory. * Little Terreille - A Territory that remains in close contact with Terreille, with many immigrants settling there, which presumably has a Dark Altar. The capital is Goth. * Nharkhava - The Capital is Tajrana and its Queen is Kalush. * Pandar - Territory of the Satyrs. Its Queen is Zylona. * Philan - Territory of fairy-like Blood, located in the Paw Islands. Its Queen is Katrine. * SaDiablo Hall - The home of Saetan SaDiablo, it exists in both Dhemlan Territories as well as Hell, and was built next to a Dark Altar that is mirrored in the other two realms. * Scelt - A human territory, it is also home to kindred Scelties (small lap dogs) and horses. The capital is Tuathal and its Queen is Morghann. Also contains the village of Maghre. * Sceval - Territory ruled by kindred unicorns. Their Queen is Moonshadow. * Tigrelan - Its Queen is Grezande. * Unnamed Island - Ruled by the Dark Council, which settles disputes between Territory Queens and the like if they are unable to reach an agreement themselves. Both Saetan and Andulvar served on this body as neutral parties, although they have both stepped down. Under Heketah's influence, many council members were replaced by the Blood from Little Terreille and allowed Terreillean Queens to claim closed and kindred Territories.
Hell - The Dark Realm
This is the realm of the dead, where the demons live. Saetan is the High Lord over this realm.
* Hekatah's Territory * Harpy Territory - Territory controlled by the Harpies, witches who have died a violent death at the hands of Blood males. Their Queen is Titian, mother to Surreal SaDiablo, also a Black Widow and one of the Dea al Mon. Titian was brutally raped and broken by Kartane SaDiablo, later killed by Greer. Harpy territory is also the location of a Dark Altar. * Cildru dyathe's island - The Territory where Blood children go when they become demon dead. Their leader is Char, a young Warlord. * SaDiablo Hall - The home of Saetan SaDiablo, it exists in both Dhemlan Territories as well as Hell (which does not have a Dhemlan Territory). It is connected to the other Halls by a Dark Altar.
Outside the Realms
There are some places which exist outside the physical Realms.
* The Twisted Kingdom - The psychological and mystical realm of the insane. Those who have lost their minds are said to be lost in the Twisted Kingdom. This is somewhat Shamanistic in nature, resembling the mythologies of lower or underworlds in our past. * The Abyss - The psychological and mystical realm from which the Blood derive their power. When the Blood descend to their levels of power, they descend into the Abyss. Witch spirals into the Abyss, and also originates from there. The Abyss is within the mind or more likely, the soul of each member of the Blood. It may be what connects them to the Darkness.-Introduction--Systems--Location--Characters--Rules--Submissions-

-Characters- Protagonists
* Jaenelle Angelline (Angel--there is a Heaven/Hell naming convention in these novels) is the main character, the young witch destined to become Queen of the Darkness, aka "Witch". She is also known as "Dreams Made Flesh", as she is a physical manifestation of the dreams of many of the characters, including some antagonists. She is also a natural Black Widow and Healer. At her Birthright Ceremony, she received an uncut Jewel of each color from White to Ebon-Gray, and 13 uncut Black Jewels from Lorn, a legendary dragon. She descended to Ebony after her Offering to the Darkness, and later gave up the Ebony but received Twilight's Dawn, a Jewel with levels of Power from White to Black. With it she effectively has one Jewel of every hue. It is also the only Jewel of its kind. She is Kaeleer's Heart, and becomes Queen of the Dark Court of Ebon Askavi. As Queen, she ruled all territories in Kaeleer aside from Little Terreille. She has an ongoing romance with Daemon Sadi throughout the series, although it comes to fruit only in "Queen of the Darkness" (Note: It is questionable whether Jaenelle shattered the Ebony or not. A shard of her Ebony jewels remains as an anchor for the Twisted Web held in Arachna's Territory, which anchors the dream to the flesh which is Witch. Additionally, in the anthology "Dreams Made Flesh", it is directly stated that Jaenelle could, if she so desired, regain the powers of the Ebony Jewels, but through her powers has anchored the Ebony Power to the misty place found below the Black in the Abyss.) * Daemon Sadi (SaDiablo)(Daemon) is the son of Saetan and the broken Black Widow, Tersa, and fiercely loves Jaenelle. He was raised by Dorothea SaDiablo as a pleasure slave, and she attempts to control him through the pain-giving Ring of Obedience around his genitals. His skills in bedroom pleasure are notorious, and has earned the name "the Sadist" because of the excruciating pain and pleasure he delivers. He, like his father and brother, is a Warlord Prince with Birthright Red Jewels. He later descended to Black Jewels after his offering to the Darkness. Daemon is the second male in the history of the Blood to wear the Black, as well as being the only male born a Black Widow, a little quirk of his parentage. He is also his father's mirror and namesake, his full proper name listed as Saetan Daemon SaDiablo, although he is known to the world by the name of Sadi, and as Daemon to those he knows more personally. Daemon is the Consort of the Dark Court of Ebon Askavi. He is also the lover of Jaenelle. * Saetan Daemon SaDiablo (Satan) is the High Lord of Hell, High Priest of the Hourglass, and Warlord Prince of Dhemlan. He is Jaenelle's spiritual and adopted father. He received an uncut Birthright Red Jewel, and received an uncut Black Jewel after his Offering to the Darkness. Anne Bishop uses the concept of a triangle - the Steward, First Escort/Consort, and Master of the Guard who form the male triangle that surrounds and support the female ruler, and are the backbone of any Court. Saetan has the position of Steward in the Dark Court. He was the first male in the history of the Blood to be trained as a Black Widow and the only male to wear the Black Jewels, until his son Daemon. * Lucivar Yaslana (SaDiablo)(Lucifer) is the son of Saetan and the Eyrien Luthvian. Lucivar, a half-Eyrien, has batlike wings, and has a strong brotherly love for Jaenelle. He is owned by the High Priestess of Askavi and controlled through a Ring of Obedience. He later escapes his bondage and ends up joining Jaenelle and the Coven. His Jewels are the birthright Red, then later descended to Ebon Gray. Lucivar is the First Escort of the Dark Court of Ebon Askavi. Jaenelle considers Lucivar her older brother. * Surreal SaDiablo is a prostitute and assassin. Her Jewels are birthright Green, and later descended to Gray. She is later accepted as part of Jaenelle's "family", providing a lot of support for her, as well as Daemon, Lucivar and Saetan. She is the daughter of Titian, the result of her mother's rape by Kartane SaDiablo, making Surreal a Hayllian and Dea al Mon half-breed. Her parentage gives her the distinct appearance of having gold-green eyes (a mix of her mother's forest green eyes and her father's golden ones) as well as black hair and pointed ears, a combination that distinctly defines her as a half breed.
Other Characters
* Andulvar Yaslana is demon-dead serving Saetan in Hell. He is a legendary Eyrien figure, known as the "Demon Prince" and one of Saetan's closest friends. Lucivar can also trace his lineage back to Andulvar. Birthright Red descended to Ebon Gray. * Cassandra a Black Widow and Queen who was thought to be dead for 50,000 years she was discovered to have become a Guardian in order be a guide for Witch when she came. Saetan served her as Consort. Birthright Red descended to Black. * Char is a demon-dead child who leads the other children on the cildru dyathe's island. * Draca, the seneschal of the Keep at Ebon Askavi is the last Queen of the Dragons who gave the Blood their magic, shedding her scales in the form of jewels. upon giving her power to the Blood, she turned humanoid. Birthright Red(?) descended to Gray. * Peyton is the seldom-mentioned second son of Saetan who returned to the Darkness, long ago. * Prothvar is demon-dead serving Saetan in Hell. Grandson of Andulvar. Birthright Opal descended to Red. * Tersa is the Black Widow who foretold the coming of Witch. She wanders the Twisted Kingdom, meaning she is insane. Birthright Rose descended to Opal. Married to Aaron, mother of Arianna. * Luthvian is a Red Jeweled Healer/Black Widow and Lucivar's mother. Though Eyrien, she was born without wings (common in her bloodline due to interracial breeding between Eyriens and Dhemlans or Hayllians). Proudly traces her bloodline to Andulvar Yaslana, or as Saetan points out, his son Ravenar by Hekatah, and a slightly less desirable bloodline. She disapproves of Lucivar's relationship with Marian and makes all manner of attempts to end it before her death.
Kindred
The Kindred are animals who have been granted their own Jewels. Hence, they have similar powers to that of the human Blood, as well as the same hierarchy, and so their name (kindred) is derived from the fact that they are 'related' to the Blood. The Kindred consist of all kinds of animals, ranging from dogs, cats, to unicorns and spiders. They played a large part in the Dreaming of Jaenelle (Witch) and it is through their influence that her true form is part beast, part human. The Kindred possess similar abilities to that of the Blood, but some have special abilities that are specific to a particular species. Arcerian cats, for example, can penetrate any shield, regardless of the difference in the perpetrator and defender's jewel strength. Before the coming of Witch, the Kindred were largely shunned by humans, and some of the cruel ones even hunted them for their special pelts, which were valued for their magical aura. Communication was impossible, but through Jaenelle, several protagonists, such as Daemon and his family, as well as Jaenelle's coven, were able to learn how to speak to each other telepathically. It is uncertain as to what the Kindred do with their Jewels - unlike humans, who gild their Jewels and form necklaces and rings to wear them, Kindred are animals and yet, they are described as wearing chains/crowns holding their Jewels.

As for the Jewels, I want you to, in the first post of yours, to a dice roll to figure it out. Fair is Fair...and I don't want twenty plus Ebony Jeweled characters. So...role a twenty sided die once. As for the rest...I will subtract six from your number to figure out what Jewel rank your Birthright Jewel will be. ex. - 20x1= 16. 16-6=10. Birthright Jewel=Red. -Username -Name -Age -Caste -Location/Realm/Village/Town -Description/Bio -Image -Introduction--Systems--Location--Characters--Rules--Submissions-

-Submissions- Username:Ice Cold Celes Name: Kitara Age: Twelve Caste: Natural Black Widow Location: Glacia, Kaeleer Description: Daughter of Karla, Kitara is a spitting image of her. Though, not angered by the male species like her mother was, she didn't find it necessary to keep her hair trimmed short and wear "boyish" clothing. Being brought up durning Jaenelle's reign, Kitara may not fear what the generation of female Witches before her feared. Protected, loved, and tutored at SaDiablo's Hall, this young witch stunned the demon's that tread within the keep. White-blond hair, ice blue eyes showing her blood ties of the winter-folk, Kitara stood next in line to ruling Glacia. Her mother it's current Queen and serving in Jaenelle's court...all waited the day her young daughter made her Offering to the Blood. Currently though, with her studies she has found a dear interest in the art of music. Piano, being her at most true love in life, if she can't be found just listen to the sounds of the area. You'll eventually hear her music of Witchfolk off in the distance. Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Image 4 (in order of age)-Username: The Bowley Man -Name: Cain Morcant -Age: 13 -Caste: Blood Male -Location/Realm/Village/Town: Zuulman, Terreille -Description/Bio: Cain is many things. Happy, Sad, Angry, Quiet, Loud, Serious, Flamboyant, and more. He is all these things, in very large amount. His world was shattered when his home was destroyed, and he can't figure out how to cope with it yet. Eventually he'll settle into a quiet, happy, serious personality, but now, he's on the verge of the twisted kingdom. His parent's were of low blood caste, neither owning a stone. They lived a quiet life, and when Cain showed a great talent in the craft, they sent him away to Dhemlan, to learn what he could, and hopefully get himself a stone. He can't remember much of Zuulman, most of the things Zuulman specific were eradicated from his mind when it was destroyed, so he must depend on what's left of his memories to live on. He has lost all material items except basic things that he had brought with him. Mainly clothing, a dirk, and assorted odds and ends. He holds a job busing tables at a local tavern in the town so he can pay for his learning, since he has no family wealth to draw upon. He realizes that SaDiablo was insane when he destroyed Zuulman, but he questions the power alloted to the rulers of the realms, that they can utterly destroy that which they rule. -Image: Of average height and weight, Cain has brown hair that hangs in front of his striking blue eyes unless he keeps it back with a headband. He wears simple clothing, A grey shirt, black vest, and black pants, and a good pair of boots. He wears a long headband, tied in the back. Young Older Oldest-Username: Insane Clown Kefka -Name: Sotsa Namia -Age: 26 -Caste: Healer -Location/Realm/Village/Town: Raej -Description/Bio: Originally a Prince of Glacia, He stepped down soon after his first Rut, having locked himself in his room the entire time. He noted, afterwards, how rude he had been to the staff, and everyone else, and had not enjoyed the experience at all. After stepping down, he left his native land, searching for an alternative, and safer method of magic. Considering himself a generally nice person, he swore off magic entirely until he could find a way to utilize it without the ensuing Rut. Travelling the lands with little more than a small sachel, he began studying potions and salves, finding that many of them can be utilized for the same things as magic can. Over times, he travelled to many lands; primarily Sceval and Philan, learning how to master herblore. Now, mastering the arts, he travels the lands, helping those in need with his skills. Currently, he resides in Raej, tending to the slaves to keep them in prime condition for the Slave Fair. In doing so, he keeps a casual eye out for Black Widows that may come to pass, as thier mastry of poisons may well aid his own knowledge. -Image: x-Username: saturn_nsm00 -Name: Jade Darkk -Age: Unknown (Looks late-teens, early 20's) -Caste: Black-Widow Queen -Location/Realm/Village/Town: Kaeleer (Jade is Nomadic) -Description/Bio: Jade is tall, standing at five-feet eight-inches, and has straight, long black hair. She usually keeps it back in a braid, unless she's being lazy or is called upon to attend a special event (which are few and far between for her). Her eyes are a unique shade of green like her namesake. She has strong features and pale skin. Her body is lush, but kept in top shape. She is quite the workout warrior, for reasons as of yet unknown. Usually she can be found wearing nothing but black, white, and gray. Jade is a young woman of unknown origins, or at least she doesn't tell people where she's from. She does, however, know that she was born in Terreille. Most of Jade's past is a mystery, and she likes to keep it that way. As she is nomadic, Jade does not keep very close ties with people, which also keeps her from answering a lot of questions. Most of the time, she picks up odd jobs in towns and villages, stays for a couple of days or weeks, then moves on. -Image: x-Introduction--Systems--Location--Characters--Rules--Submissions-
