Do you think having a bigger or smaller band is better? This weekend, we went to a show and there was a band with 10 instrumentalists and a 4-person guard(the entire guard is in middle school). They were one of the best there. There was another band that never seemed to stop. They were all right, a few fell out of step, and their moves weren't so impressive, but they made a bigger impression because of their massive SIZE. So I ask you, is bigger necessarily better?

I come form a smaller band ((Single A)), and I think that smaller is better, cause you get more attion, and you can fix your trubble spots.

Depends. I'd say medium.

Big is good because uhhh, not everyone will see your problem spots >.>. Smaller is better because you get more attention and want to perform better.

My band is ******** HUGE. 100 or so people in the band Alone, with 42 in the guard.

We havea medium sized band. Smaller bands are better if they can get their act together, but all of them around here really suck. I know my favorite show out of every competition we went to this year was froma 5A band, they do look good because of the effect and they can do more. plus its harder to see their mistakes.

I think smaller guards benefit more.
Its easier to clean small groups. And they end up doing cooler more complicated work. That always impresses.
Our guard has 8 people in it and not to be cocky but we're awesome =P

It all depends on your tastes. A small band can be perfected until the don't make a single mistake. A big band even the best will make a few mistakes, and sometimes not all of the intrumentals actualy play. But, they make a much bigger impact.

I remember seeing a small band of like 20 people with no Guard but they danced while playing their insturments which was good. My guard only had like 12 people for fall but i think it was alot more fun then having a huge guard.

Small and large have their own advantages, but I really love being in a small group. You pretty much know everyone and there is alot less drama. Its a second family!

I'd say middle.
our band is mid-sized, we have a lot of people so we can do a lot of different things that you wouldn't be able to do with a small band, but we don't have so many people that we can't fix our problem sets.

i have a smallish band and really small colorguard. the band was better because they practiced more. our instructor let us goof off and we werent that good. i dont think it depends on your band size that much but it does help to have a big one. bigger impression.

We have a big band and it makes a big impression but it's harder to get our work good. We have 40 ppl. in guard and it's so hard to make our work perfict and I always run into ppl.

Oh my god.
We've only got, like, 45 people in out band, and 10 in guard. >.<
