I've noticed that for the longest time I seem to be discriminated against simply because of my race. I came from a private Islamic elementary/middle school and even as early as then I could see the signs of discrimination and racism. Teachers included but mostly students.

I ask you, is it wrong for me to have been born African-American and Muslim? What is the difference between the Adhan being whispered in my ear as a child and it being whispered the ear of a Arabian child?

I simply want to know if anyone else has faced this problem and how you've reacted to it.

well I don't really know any black Muslims that well but in Islam everyone should be treated equally and with respect. The religion Islam is from Allah for the people, not only for the Arabic Muslims. I mean what would become of our religion if we picked up something similar to the Hindu caste system? Well ,it definetly wouldn't be the worlds second largest and fastest growing religion!

I have seen it before; mostly for new converts. Generally someone expressing interest or new to Islam asks for help from those who they believe would have the most experience, and they are treated with arrogance and indifference (not always obvious but you can see the underlying issues). This was especially true among some Arabs I knew, who seemed to be of the opinion that only Arabs can be true Muslims. Not saying this is a common problem (though it might be), just something I noticed in my area.

But I'm not a new Muslim. Simply being near certain people causes apparent discomfort for reasons unknown. How can we call our selves Believers when we can't even show love to people of a different color?

Well it is just a function of human nature I suppose; anyone can claim they follow a religion or way of life, but when it comes time to overcome our own prejudices and personal feelings and do what is right...that's another story.

Arrogant Muslims are unworthy to be called Muslims.Arrogance...they are the people who follows Rasulullah(peace be upon him) but is that really true.Rasulullah(peace be upon him) never had descriminate others even his enemies. If those arrogant people who is Muslim only at name claims so, you should not feel it.Ignore them.Racists are pathetic people. How dare they treat you like that. You were made that way by Allah. They are sinful for treating you badly for your looks. Allah made you like that and they are insulting Allah's creation. Foolishness. You should not care about what they say. It is what Allah thinks of you is what matters. And may Allah be pleased with you.

yes but sadly, this world mostly revovles around "what other people think". it's a norm for the regular society to day to look around and try ot fit in with what they see. I'm not one of them but most people it is as important as their religion, exspecially in highschool settings. Most people that you talked about are pretty pathetic but they don't always understand that the why (god/allah) made us like this is known only to him and that we shouldn't judge it.

Those teachers and students do not simply understand the fact that equality is the soul of Islamic Society. It does not discriminate the white, black, blue or yellow with pink polka dots. If there wasn't any equality, then Islam would be a very difficult religion to practice.
