Daisuke walked down the last few steps into the deepest sanctum of Library Island. It was small, and the floor was covered with sightly-glowing runes, which was the only light source for the room. Four giant statues stood in it, one at each true point of the compass.
To the North, an enormous, towering dragon.
To the East, A woman mage holding a staff up high.
To the South, a mighty Djinn, arms crossed.
To the West... the statue was missing.
Daisuke's eyes quickly surveyed the room. He smiled a bit.
"Nice try, but in this kind of place, you can't conceal yourself completely..."

Someone stepped out from behind the Dragon statue... It was the mage, who the others had supposedly defeated.
"Ah, dear... It seems I've been found after all."

The mage smiled.
"As you might have guessed, I was never in that room where your friends were fighting. It was all, you might say, illusory. It's a technique I call "alter dementium." It's the same thing I used to lock you and your friend away..."
He stopped there, and shot a sideways glance at Daisuke.
"But I shouldn't go on. After all, I wouldn't want one of my best arcana to be uncovered..."

"I thought it was something like that. I also realize you can't use it here- it takes time to prepare, right? And once in place, it only affects a certain area."
He shifted his stance a little, and the first threads of magic started to dance across his fingertips.
"So... There are a few questions that I could use answering. One- are you with the Cloud Organization? And two- if not, what the hell are you doing here in Mahora Academy?"

The mage frowned.
"Cloud Orginization? I can't say I've heard of them... Which probably means I don't care. But... To answer your second question..."
His frown turned upside down as he spoke his next lines.
"I am an independent magister, come to Mahora to do a little recruiting. I was looking for suitable mages to join my cause... But it seems all I have found are over-powered brats that would be far too troublesome to control via my magics. Other than that... I mean no harm."
He looked at Daisuke, his glasses reflecting the light from the runes on the floor.
"The only one I was planning on keeping in the end... Was you, Kazehito Daisuke-san."

Daisuke grimaced.
"Well... It's nice to know you aren't with Cloud... But I don't think I'm interested in joining whatever cracked-up cult you're forming."
The magic in his fingertips intensified.
"So... Howabout you just turn around and leave this Academy posthaste... And we can forget this meeting happened."

"I plan to leave soon, you don't have to worry about that.

Daisuke's eyes narrowed.
"I doubt you'll be doing any of that. Since I've already gotten past your trump card, smacking you around should require little effort on my part."
He ran towards him, and chanted the invocation for his fire arrows. Just as he got a few meters away from the mage- he preformed a short-range instant-movement technique off to his side.
"Saggita Magita; 17 arrows, fire series!"
The flaming missiles erupted from his hand and flew towards the mage.

A direct hit- all 17 of the arrows slam into his body, which appears to fall down lifeless...

Even for this apparent victory, Daisuke does not leap to conclusions, instead saying,
"You might be able to cad some other sap with that... But I'm an illusionist also, and I can recognize the hackwork magic you're pulling."
With that, the body lying on the ground disappears from Daisuke's sight.

A voice floats out from nowhere...
"Very nice. However, I've trained far too hard to be surpassed by a mere prestidigitator like yourself, boy. "
At once, the floor under Daisuke's feet erupted like a volcano, immersing him in a cone of fire, shooting skyward.

Daisuke jumped out of the fire and fell to the floor, struggling to get uo. He looked strained, but not down for the count.
"Damn it... Fine. I have to end this quickly...."
He turned around and started chanting very fast in an unintelligible language, the air around him starting to shimmer, like heat waves.

The mage smiled. "Well now... This should be interesting... Shame I have to cut it tragically short!"
He dove at Daisuke with incredible speed, flames searing from his fingers.

Just as the mage reached Daisuke... He disappeared. His voice boomed out-
"You're not the only one who can use cheap parlor tricks. Now, witness what i've learned from a mage with power far greater than yours..."
Behind the mage, an enourmous blackness appeared, surrounded by countless gigantic teeth- it was a maw, as big as he could see, coming towards him and engulfing everything, even the room itself...
"My last tale nihil amoris, daea lunae vocatis my mercy! Jaws of Fenrir!!"
