Other Notable Things: SOAD used to be called Soil. After Soil split up, Serj and Daron formed a new band (System of a Down) based on a poem that Daron wrote. The poem's title was "Victims of the Down", but Shavo, who was originally the band's manager and promoter, didn't like the word and thought the word System sounded better. So they used System Of A Down, Shavo turned into the bassist and they had Andy Khachaturian as the drummer. They were playing a gig with John Dolmayan and the producer told the band members to keep an eye on him. They ended up having John as their drummer. - SOAD is often credited for the Legend Of Zelda song by The Rabbit Joint, and The Ballad Of Kurt Cobain, by Stormtroopers Of Death.- Serj wrote a book, called Cool Gardens. It contains many poems he wrote. - SOAD and Serj's grandfather, who survived the Armenian Genocide, are in a documentary called "Screamers". Throughout high school, Serj got a 4.0 GPA, he studied marketing before SoaD, and was the CEO of a computer software company called eGames. .Serj is a vegetarian, he smokes, and has also done drugs.
