Which do you prefer? Personally I'd go for a Wii because it's
A) less expensive
B) Fat preventing(hehe)
C) Potentially dangerous! mrgreen (Duh)
Then Again the PS3 has
A) Better graphics
B) Better overall quality
C) In the future WILL have Kingdom Hearts 3

360
nah but really i have a 360 and a Wii (forgeting DS and psp) ... but i want a PS3 to just so i got all three...however I dont really use them as much as i should, just waiting on assassin creed and fable 2
but back to the matter at hand
Wii just didnt have enough gameplay for me, thats why i got it hoping the gameplay would bring up its sub-par graphics but it really didnt, after playing red steel i thought i had just finished playing time crisis for the PS1 (which i enjoy but for the Wii and style of the game not good)
With the bad there is good.
I was playing Wii with my dad's friends son who is 4, he dosnt go to school yet, however he easily picked up on how to play bowling on the Wii and every other sport, beside boxing (he ended up hitting my tv)
PS3 time
All though i do not own the PS3 i have played it and i did enjoy my time, overall it didnt add anything new to me other then increased graphics and the new menu thats like psp, but knowing im going to have the same lvl of fun i had when i used to sit down and play my PS2 make's me feel a lot better then when i think im going to have to stand up and move around my living room like a idiot (nah not really i like it, for some game madden the most)
bad things
The size, how close it is to a ps2 just like 360 is to xbox, and from what i have heard they heat up a lot.
overall.
I would say if you have the money get yourself a PS3 but if your light on cash (like me) the Wii is a good consal to waste away your time, then again if you like the range of games Wii has and will have get it, for me they havnt realsed a game i really want.

you make some interesting points! I definently agree with you though, if I had the money, I would get a PS3 over the Wii.

As someone who as owned a Wii. I would say PS3. The Wii isn't that bad. It's just that if you aren't aying a game that is active (I.E. the sports games and work out games) It is really lacking in responce and gameplay. I was stoaked for the Wii. My room mate and myself waited for a whole day before it came out, waiting at the best buy. Like I said, Wii isn't that bad. PS3 is just better over all I think.

Wii, though it has its negatives, is better. (Keep in mind, I don't own one. I'm just stating what I know from limited exposure and experience.)
The PS3 is prone to freezing and other such nonsensical and annoying things due to the experimental technology programed in its innards. It does have much better graphics, but that's always been a marketing point for the Sony and XBox (don't know its company...) items. Nintendo has always gone for the more... innocent, child-oriented, nostalgic type games. Plus, the Wii can get on the internet (if you hook it up) and it can tell you the weather, and it gets you off the couch/loveseat/LaZBoy chair. (Teehee!)

I dont like sony, brought a psp when it first came out, it was filled with dead pixels and sony said they couldnt do anything because it wasnt there fault, yes i know that this happens, and looking at my tv i see the dead pixels over time, but you would think that with such a small creen you can see them clearly and you can, so sony should of done somthing more about it, i dont know however if the problem still happens now.
@Scarlet_Pumpernickel Getting things when they first come out is great, i do it myself but the downside is that a lot of the time the first ones have the problems, like my 360, one of the first ones, broke the same time as my friend who got his on the same day.
Why i had to say that when it has nothing to do with the topic, i dont know but i did it anyways.

That's sad that Sony didn't help you... That's rude... *sigh* What's the world coming to? haha
But what'd you have to do with your PSP, then?
