Yeah, I know the feeling. Been on the upswing lately, but things are balanced pretty precariously and I'm struggling to fortify positions and resources before anything crumbles.

Gogo angst thread wink

Well, they are the ones ruling the world and making life miserable for the masses.

psychiatrists and psychologists should learn that the cause of depression is not chemical imbalances but capitalism. Of course, theyre probably paid off to tell people its a chemical imbalance so they won't realize they're depressed because of the state of the world/society under capitalism.

I'm probably the biggest emo kid in the whole world. I've had too many shrinks try to fatten me up with their Zoloft and Lexapro and ******** else they can try to feed me. I'm just glad my dad was sensible enough to not send 30bucks+ a moth down the drain. I'm never taking that s**t. I think excercising has helped me out alot, but that doesn't make all of the shitty things in life go away. I guess I just get too much time to think, and then I realize that things are shitty and they start to affect me... so SOMETIMES I try not to think too much. Or just be thankful that you have enough of a brain to realize what's really going on, and that you're not some naiive piece of s**t like over half the population is, thinking everything is groovy because they have no idea what's really going on.

Let's go burn a Nike factory biggrin

Yeah hahah, I think that feeling down is just a pathology that comes out of living in the system but some people have a better ability to cope with it. But I´m really thinking about starting doing excercise, just to be less sad at moments. And i guess I could use some. BTW thanks all 3nodding

i hate that s**t about being too cool for medication. i'm on 40mg/day of Prozac, and I haven't been taking it for the past few weeks, but it really helps me sometimes. I'm starting to get consistently down a lot now, so I'm thinking it's all out of my system and I should start taking it again. But I've been on a lot of stuff that hasn't done anything, has made it worse, including St. John's Wort, which is natural and I have friends that swear by it. If medication makes you feel better and doesn't ******** you up, then I don't see what's wrong with taking it.

I'm too depressed to exercise most of the time, even when I'm on prozac. I don't feel like that's a viable solution for anyone who is seriously depressed. It's impossible to find the motivation to jog when you don't even want to be alive.

its not that im cool for medication, but im afraid to become addicted, or make it part of my daily spending. plus if i made more excercise i might get a little muscle, which i think wouldnt be too bad since im weak as hell haha.

see, its kind of a combination of two things, getting better physically and getting better psychologically.

im kind of the guy who gets easily addicted btw heh

Is it just me or does it seem like a lot of anarchists struggle w/ depression? confused

I was horribly depressed in college. I was diagnosed as manic depressive/bipolar. I ended up on meds but stopped taking them after about a month. They just made me emotionally numb and I didn't really feel alive anymore. Not sad, but not happy, not anything really. And extremely tired all the time, and loopy. I remember I started sleeping all the time and missing class a lot.

I guess it was a combination of things that triggered it, the culture shock of moving from Miami to Iowa, loneliness, alienation, homesickness, an abusive relationship and another break-up after that, money problems, the pressure to succeed in school, etc. (although I had struggled w/ depression on and off since I was a child).

I still get down sometimes (mostly due to worrying about money, worrying about the environment, worrying about my family, remembering my grandma who passed away last year). But I've learned to deal and since I dropped outta UI and moved back home I've never been as depressed as I was back in those days.

Things get better by themselves sometimes. It just comes with time, with taking yourself outta triggering situations, and with balancing your life. biggrin

Sometime's it feels like everyone is working their hardest to upset you in any way.
I get those days where I feel so horrible I'll spend the entire day in my room in the dark, thinking and trying not to cry, but crying anyway.
But after I really think about it, and really realise how much of it is actually me being sad, compared to how much of me it is wanting to be sad, I start to feel better.
I used to listen to the radio, but stopped because I realised every song was the same more or less.
It was people singing about being pissed, sad, horny, rich, or partying.
And I realised that it's all so contrived, and it kind of makes you think things are worse than they actually are.
It's total bull s**t.

Then I have those days where I feel great, and all the sadness seems so small.

Keep fighting it bro.
