Oh, dear god, I don't feel alive...
Alright, before I begin this rant, a prelude: my mother is a sexist, hypocritical feminazi. And this particular argument with her was filled with so many sexist ad hominems, non sequiturs, and straw-man arguments that I could have easily regurgitated whatever fragments of my sanity that I have left.
So, one of my guyfriends is a DM in a D&D campaign, and he's been helping me get started playing. He and I wanted to get together this weekend so we could get some playing in. I posed the idea to my mom last week, and she didn't have a problem with it then, but we were busy, so we couldn't. This week, I tried again, and she started on a sexist rampage. She said no, and when I asked why, she said, "He might want to get into some extra-curricular activities besides Dungeons and Dragons, you know?"
Of course, my initial reaction was, "What the HELL is your problem?" She'd met him at a party over the summer and even said herself that she thought that he was a "nice kid" and that he has a "lovely family," so naturally her statement was completely self-contradictory. I pointed this out to her.
Her reaction? "You have to take things slowly, Becca!"
"Slowly"?! Hello, we've been trying to put my character together for WEEKS! Besides, all my friends think that the two of us would make a cute couple, and one of my catalyst friends has said to me, "You two are the slowest a** people on the planet!"
She's not even Christian (and neither am I), but she makes Jesus cry.
And after she could come up with no arguments about him, she started throwing ad hominems towards his family instead.
"What if his dad's a ***** if he is? That means he WOULDN'T want to screw me."
"You're under age of consent!"
"Point?"
"... What if his mom's a drunk?"
Alright, it's true that most ***** are men, but there are so few ***** out there that this really doesn't apply. I swear, it's like "innocent until proven guilty" is turning into "guilty until proven innocent," and common sense is now uncommon sense.
And it basically went in circles from this point forward. So, to my mother, I have these four words to say:
So, you're either with me, or you're with the enemy. Thoughts?

Wow. People don't usually go around assuming that everyone else are derilicts. I guess your mom either applies it when it suits her, or leads an incredibly paranoid life.
On another note, when you crunch the numbers, the lowest estimate I've seen for population of ***** is 1/5 of the male population. However, this doesn't imply that they're all exclusive- just that 1/5 finds children attractive to some degree. It's probable that the exclusive group is much smaller.

Yeah, she's a complete and utter paranoiac, as well. She can be cool sometimes, don't get me wrong, but when she gets bitchy, you better run for the hills.

Wow... Those are some off-handed comments there o.o;;
Your mother develops the most random thoughts.
It is probably her paranoia but accusing your friend's dad for a ***** and his mother a drunk? I'm guessing she does that quite often but she must have some legitimate reason {though possibly not} to contradict her "nice kid" and "lovely family" comments.

lolol Nicely done, you actually managed to make me laugh out loud. Well, it was really more of a gigle-snort... and now my brother is gicing me weird looks... As for the OP, I understand how you feel. A few weeks ago my mother says to me "Now, I'm totally fine with you going out to parties and things, but I want you to go on the Pill first." I'm was like, alright, we're finally getting somewhere here. So this morning I bring it up again, saying that I'd like to go on the pill. Instant defensive wall, "Ashlee, slow down, I don't want you to go on the Pill if your just gonna use it as an excuse to sleep around!" confused Let's just say that argument did not end very well, we only stopped when she dropped me off at work.

My friend plays that with my other friend. Only first friend probably has a crush on me.
Which is strange because he used to like second friend. confused
Anyways, all mothers are insane. My friend and I have the weirdest mum's.
My friend KK (you can't have her name) meets her boyfriend... and, says if he ever hurts KK her uncle will buy him a pair of nice cement shoes.
THEN!
she says all Italian men have small P---es ... and asks if he is Italian. So, he says no, "I'm Irish" and she says "Oh, I've heard they're all right". .... stare
Mothers are just insane.

Moms are like that. As are dads, and big sisters/brothers. I'm a hell of a lot more judgmental of my future brother-in-law than I am of anyone else.
Not saying your mom's right, just explaining her behaviour.

Why is Gaia suddenly censoring the word "pe-do-phile" on the forums? I have it set to minimal filtering (the lowest setting), and it censors *****, but not ********. What the ******** class="postcontent-align-right" style="text-align: right">...when you're cut short of misery.

I like D&D. I always play as a Neutral Good half-elven sorcerer. ^_^
Anyway, no offence, but your mother seems... nuttier than squirrel crap, if you'll forgive me for saying so. A headcase and paranoid to boot. In my experience, there's no reasoning with such wackos.
