For centuries humanity has been faced with many conflicts, and time and time again history presents a small collection of people to resolve them. Those people claim themselves defenders of the weak; great helpers of the helpless and so on. Or so the world was lead to believe. Much like Hercules donned his mighty lion skin cloak, the great heroes of the last century have carried out their acts of chivalry in brilliant colors and guises, presenting themselves as symbols of an ultimate justice. Some were put off by the crusader's sense of superiority. Some great heroes grew arrogant and full of themselves. The protector of the common man became no more. Small wars broke out between costumed counterparts, cityscape and civilian grounds becoming their battlefield.Without the adapted order that the heroes had once given them, politics were forced to re-establish themselves as independents. Negotiations started well enough, but trust proved to be a shaky ground between nations. All out war was the inevitable result.

Enter the good Dr. Applewhite, a man whom had a prescription for the great ailments of the world.

Solidifying his ties to the greater powers of the war, he established a series of weapon trades. It was not long before the world was in ruin and the good doctor saw fit to present another resolution to the chaos that had befallen all good people.Causing the majority of the world populace to turn on the extraordinarily powered heroes who had failed them in their time of need, Applewhite took control of the planet piece by piece. He offered to those willing to live under his rule the chance at a new beginning; new homes, new cities and perfected technologies. While he built these 'safe havens' for his new world order, the rest of the planet was left to rot in the aftermath of apocalyptic war.
It was not long before the failed protectors of the world were hunted, forced either into hiding or caught and put to death, lest they choose to support the new world order.

The Heroes of the world are now scattered and broken; ashamed of their misguided judgments and, essentially, hated by all.

It has been two years since the Dr. Applewhites official takeover.

-The New World Order-

The world is mostly rubble and chaos, but those who choose to live under Dr. Applewhite's rule are granted the luxury of ignorant bliss. These cities built to house the obedient populace, and are in and of themselves technological marvels. They block out the rest of the world with great walls; sometimes even domes to protect from the influence of nature itself. Australia remains untouched by the doctor's influence, as well as the Easternmost parts of Asia/Russia and Central Africa. Though never actually referred to as 'super villains', its is these people who are chosen to reinforce Dr. Applewhite's ultimate control. Some by choice, most by lack of a better one. Sometimes these subordinates will show a mischievous streak towards old crimes and habits, which the good doctor is often quick to turn a blind eye to.

-The Resistance-

Few people know the efforts being made to strip Applewhite and his followers of their power. Their numbers are small, and they are headed by young veteran of the Hero conflicts preceding the great war. Unbeknownst to the likes of Applewhite, their main headquarters are hidden along the former border between Mexico and the United States; Texas specifically. Of course this is just a base. Operations are kept discrete and moving to avoid detection. As far as the good doctor knows, there are no heroes left.
