So. I've decided that for my portfolio piece for 3D class, I want to try and make an Andalite.

I'm not too sure where to start, since I've mostly done inanimate and mechanicle objects so far, but I figure that this will be a good challenge. I should have at least one organic thing in my portfolio, and an Andalite is as good as any.

If you guys are interested, I can keep you posted on my progress. ^_^.

EDIT: Since we're doing one project that has the theme of "creepy", I may actually end up doing a Taxxon, as well.

And hey, if those two are successfull, then Hork-Bajir, here I come! XD

eek That sounds awesome! You have GOT to find a way to scan it into your computer and show us when your done. I'd like to try that, but I can barely get 2D humans right, Andalites (especially in 3D) are WAY out of my league. sweatdrop whee

I started out the Taxxon already, and it's proving fairly easy so far. The hard part is looking at centipedes for refference. *shudders*

I'm basing it mostly off the book 43 cover, though I'm using a lot of real centipedes as a base, too, to try and make them look more realistic.

I'll get some screencaps of the actual 3D model once I flesh it out more, but in the meantime I have a (very quick) sketch: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v71/AniDragon/Centipede.png

I promise, my 3D skills are better than my sketching skills.

Here's a bit more Work in Process for the Taxxon. It's still just the basic shape; I haven't added the legs or teeth yet, and its eyes need some definite work. And I haven't even begun thinking about textures.

I can't wait to start animating it, though. I found an awsome feature in 3D Studio Max that'll help it move just like a centipede. I swear, this thing is going to give me nightmares by the time I'm done.

Never thought I'd say this, but I love that Taxxon! Haha. Great detail and colors, it looks just like I pictured it in the books.
