And an unnamed houseplant. (Well, its name is Bernard, but I don't know what it is).
This is the content of my windowsill. I have three aloe plants I bought this Saturday at a church fair. There were four, but I gave one to the neighbor lady, who gardens all the time but doesn't know what anything's called. She was so happy she gave my brother an African Violet in a pretty pot. He bought four Mother of Many (weird leafy things) at the same fair for a buck, and I planted some marigolds, because he likes them but the squirrels always dig them up outside.
I have a brown thumb- stuff withers, no matter how much I take care of it. Both my siblings make things grow without trying, even though I'm the one to water and tend to the plants, in addition to composting our biodegradable scraps.
I used to grow tomatoes in pots, and they got on just fine without me. I think the trick is leaving them alone.

I tend to name houseplants Robert... *air guitar salute to anyone who got that*
Honestly, plants tend to commit suicide around me, too. I've got these ferns, though, and I think the damn things are immortal. They seriously take the worst kinds of abuse and flourish. It's a bit creepy.

lol "If you water it and it grows, its a weed. But you water it and it dies, its a plant." That is joke we sometimes say to people who say their plants dead. It means plants well die of you take care of them too much.
I have a friend who had a cactus die on her, xp . I sometimes joke that she is less caring than a desert, lol .

For once...our plants haven't died. Every time we've ever had plants, they would die, and if they did not do so immediately, they would certainly not produce flowers. Ours did. They lived, and for a long period, and they flowered. ... Well, one flowered. Beautiful purple flowers. I didn't notice at first as we had decorated around the plant with purple fake flowers as we did not expect it too bloom. whee

faolan I tend to name houseplants Robert... *air guitar salute to anyone who got that* whee I've done that before. My aloe is doing surprisingly well...it's in a combination of maybe 10% sand and 10% soil by volume, and the rest rocks. I water it maybe once a month. Slugs are eating my foxgloves, though. Apparently they are immune to digitalis, curse their primitive hearts... But, I just had a bunch of lavender spikes come up. biggrin

It's been, what, a couple of week since an individual afflicted with thirteen forms of insanity started a random religion?

My medusa peppers stayed for a good long while--even after the first frost. I kept them outside and sometimes forgot to water them, but they bore lots of fruit that I used in all kinds of dinners or desserts (probably because they have a neutral taste).

They say plants benefit from the CO2 you release around them, maybe its the breath?
