I'll start this sucker off:
Recently at my school and work I've had a really hard time with people....
o_O People make fun of me because I have diabetes, how messed up is THAT!?
So at school the other day.... I had a low in math class... and my teacher wouldn't let me go to the health room because I didn't have a pass. He was more worried about getting himself in trouble... than his own student passing out... How much trouble do you think he would have been in, if i had passed out!? rolleyes
Another case was at school.... Theres this STUPID kid who didn't want to sit with the kids he usually sits with... so of course he asks to sit at our table... He makes fun of me every day because I have diabetes. "Why are you so EMO!? You p***k yourself because you LIKE it, not because you're a diabetic! That is DISGUSTING!" D: This is the child who begged to sit at our lunch table.... he wont be sitting there for long. XD;;;;
And finally... @_@ I was at work yesterday! I'm unfortuantly still on the R and N insulin regimen... (for those of you who don't know thats when you take R for meals right away and N for over night or for a 3-4-hours later lunch)... I tell my manager, THREE hours in advance "I need to go on a 30 minute lunch break at 12 or I will pass out." .... 12 rolls around. And he tells me two other people (which included him... =/) have to go first...
the other manager saw me crying and let me go. @_@; because HE didn't want me to go passout... Ohhh I was furious D<<<<
>_> Yep. People are dumb.

@Ally; what a stupid teacher. And kid and manager. xP
I'll add my stories;
I became diabetic in 3rd grade. It was the most eventful as far as being diabetic goes. x( The nurse made me cry, and as I was walking back to my classroom, the teacher has me go outside to talk to me. While I was outside, this little jerk in my class was telling everyone I was gonna die. Its funny to think about now, but he constantly made fun of me and talked behind my back.
I cant think of any more stories, I'll add more later when they spring to mind.

Wow. I am lucky in that I've developed later in life, and all my family/friends have been pretty supportive. I can't imagine the stupidity of people making fun of anyone for a disease beyond their control, but I suppose there is no end to people's ability to be cruel.
I don't know how much can be done about the school stuff, but you should definitely not let the matter go with the manager. If you feel like he may not take you seriously due to your age, maybe get a parent involved, but it is not something that you should let go. Sure, it turned out okay this time, but he needs to understand that you have special needs and they can't be ignored. Have a talk with him (or parent with him) about how diabetes is a serious disease and how as your employer, he is responsible for complying with your needs when you've given him notice as you did. There are tons of laws on your side, so don't feel like you're causing trouble - his actions are not okay. If you don't think he's taking it seriously, perhaps you need to go higher up to his boss or the regional manager or whoever - trust me, the people in charge do not want to end up sued because he deliberately ignored your medical needs.

Yeah. I put up my school emergancy plan. And I think he got remmed out. The manager and I are cool now, but I think he gets it more @_@;; someone probably yelled at him. People are dummbbeehhh.

1. durring the first month of school, my health teacher made me give a presentation about my diabetes to the whole middle school!
2. whenever i eat in front of a teacher, they always ask me if i should be eating that with my diabetes!!! (they dont really know about diabetes)
3. my friends accidentally pull out my pump site sometimes, and then they freak out!
thats all i can think of rite now!

When I was diagnosed I had to give this presentation to the class and all the teachers had to be educated... I got two months without school though. mrgreen It was kinda weird when kids wanted to get there bs's tested though.
Colin [Genetic male benefactor] doesn't understand diabetes at all. When I get low I can't control myself from doing stupid things and I get really argumentative. That's not to bad as I don't get low around him all that much. But there was one day when I was making myself juice in the middle of the night because I got low. I accidently dropped my juice and went to go get another one. He had a huge fitt and started to yell at me to clean it up... I cleaned it up after I felt a bit better. ... His mom was a diabetic and he thinks he knows more and that I was just not wanting to clean it up. Would he rather have me die and clean something up right away or life and then clean it up? I hate him. Sorry for the rant... sweatdrop
My biggest pet peeve is when someone asks if I should eat that or deprives me of sweets! evil

Yeah, they say that with needles too. That reminds me of when I was in grade 6 a bunch of kids wanted to test there bloodsugar. I can't remember what I said either.. That's annoying too because they wouldn't let up and it was in gym and we were sitting in the hall. No way to get out of that one to quick.

pandahugger3 I'm a 14 year old diabetic from Minnesota and I have alot of lows.I don't know what to do about it. What should I do??? Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. My suggestions would be to talk to your endocrinologist, usually in your teenage years you go through puberty and it can affect your blood sugars appearntly - so maybe you need to adjust your insulin. Also, when you hve a low - make sure when you eat your fast reacting sugar that you also eat something with protein afterwards to make sure that your blood sugar levels stabelize. :3
