Tonight I've fallen and I can't get up...

Yep that's right the thread closed today...

And so no one feels bad about me winning the SS via the dice game (even though I wasn't initially on when the game started), You can feel better that I won the SS on the terms of the initial contest to be next to last poster. <33!

Who knows who would have gotten it otherwise. I took a break from posting to the thread after it.

You might not have been there immediately, but effort was put in to letting you know and you were online. Machy, Dark and I weren't even mentioned and are usually all offline at that time.

It's too late to dicker about it now anyway.

The question is: Is there a thread in here or somewhere else to replace the one we "lost".

I'm lost, but w/e. I couldn't post since I'm @ school 6:30am-3:00pm. Unless, I found a way out of my English presentation that was horrible. OR, find a proxy and come onto Gaia during A+ biggrin

We have the guild now. I just went in to post something, and I saw that the button was grey-scalled.

"Damn, it's about time they closed down the forums."

LOL!

You know, I was never a goody-two-shoes in school but I never tried using proxy's to get around the blocks... maybe cause there wasnt anything I was interested in doing or because the only computer class I had I finished everything early and liked to read my Stephan King books... lol

Hehehe. Don't think proxies were even known when I went to school. The closest thing to the internet was TIES.

TIES?
PostPosted: Sun Oct 07, 2007 9:36 pm

TIES is a computer thing for schools. They are still around, but in a different capacity. If you look at your report card it may say TIES somewhere on it.
It used a tele-type terminal which had a big keyboard type thing. It was almost like a sofa table, but about 1/2 the length and maybe not as high. You took the handset of a phone (cordless phones weren't around) and after calling a # and getting a tone, put it in a coupler that fit it and that's how the terminal communicated with the main part. It used continuous feed paper and the only pics were what you could draw with (ascii) characters.
It's how people originally played Oregon Trail.

Computers entirely at the school were usually simply terminals with the main system having a closet size hard drive.

Wow... thats crazy... I remember Oregon Trail! That game was awesome!

And I remember continuous feed paper - but I've never seen a TIES... Now I want to cause my mental image is like a bulky sewing table... stressed

I guess people were a bit upset about how the SS was won.
Don't worry.

A guild event is about to start, so don't fret!

Make sure you're all there to support the guild, because it's gonna be a big event!!!!

Hmm...
just for fun...

mods, why don't we dress up for the occassion??
everyone can join in, as well if you feel like it.

let's try and make our avis look 'modern' as in...how the 24th century would look?
