I just happened to go to teh google homepage today and noticed Sputnik staring back at me. Turns out its the 50th anniversary, yay

Monsieur Rosebud I just happened to go to teh google homepage today and noticed Sputnik staring back at me. Turns out its the 50th anniversary, yay I can't wait for Explorer I to turn 50, first satellite to use solar panels.

Oh. neutral It's ok, the united states holds the record at this time for longest artificial satellite in orbit. I can see why you would think it was up there, Russia did not get it fully in orbit it was there for the study and to showcase to the world.
