Just got a call from a union sister; my union (the UAW) is striking on my employer (GM). I'd link you guys to a news story about it, but the day shift just walked out twenty minutes ago.

Not much to update on that isn't already in the news. I gotta report to the union hall tomorrow to receive my strike duty. Maybe I'll learn something more exciting then.

Well done!!! Makes me wish there was any reason at all for me to be in a union and strike. I recently converted a friend to the cause, though, so that's something.

I felt left out so I'm posting too!
best of luck Erik! let's hope for the best from everything I've read the UAW should have a pretty decent chance of winnning this. They have a good history of standing their ground and a strike fund large enough to keep this going for much longer the GM can hold out without major profit loss. If it goes on for much more than a month I think we'll see GM giving in to quite a bit.

I think that public support for the UAW really helped to speed up the process. I'm so thankful to you guys, to the 10,000 teamsters who honored picket lines, and to the local businesses who brought us food/drinks. It almost makes me think that we're living in a world worth fighting for.

Famicommie We won yesterday at 3 a.m. !!! I hadn't heard, what's the scoop? great news not just for current UAW members, but since this should certainly help them with their current attempts to unionize workers for non-american car companies plants( I know they're currently after toyota now yeah?)
