A world where primary colors look good together. Where basic black never goes wrong, and the true fashionista wears their symbol right smack on their chest, no matter how accurate a shot their arch-nemesis may be.
It is a world where fashion means wearing your underwear on the outside and never apologizing for it.
BUT...This does not mean that every single costume that comes out of the minds of the Comic-making elite is a masterpiece of four-color design. In fact, there are several...dozens...maybe hundreds of horrifying, hideous, and outright ugly attempts at superhero attire throughout the ages.
And this...this will be their gallery. I now present to you, my nominees for the Super-Fashion Hall of Shame!
Please note, that this thread is not for ugly art...that deserves a thread of it's own. This is for ugly costume design.
And the nominees are...
Up first...a costume SO ugly that the website I originally found pictures of it on is gone. Fortunately, eBay has no stanards against bad taste, so I present to you...Firestorm's Second Costume.

Why is this a nominee? The fluffy collar. The flaming "Wolverine on crack" hair. The glowing crotch-ball. This is an atrocity of biblical proportions, fashionably speaking. No wonder Ronnie went back to his original digs before getting blown to bits in Identity Crisis.
And the second nominee... I have trouble thinking of a '90's reboot' costume I hate more then the next nominee. Sometimes a costume is updated, and it's a good thing, like Jean Grey ditching the microminiskirt when she got the Phoenix immortality upgrade. But other times, it's little more then a pathetic attempt by the comic's creators to ape the style of something that's selling better then what they're currently peddling.
And so I give you, the horror, the Invisible Woman reboot costume of the late '90's.

Why is this a nominee? This thing goes from titilating to just plain ridiculous. The first time I saw this costume on Sue, I considered drawing it on Johnny and sending it to Marvel so they could see what a ridiculous, sexist, ugly abomination it was. Luckily, it didn't last very long in the comics-apparently Sue got chilly and decided to put clothes on again. She's back to equal ground with the men these days, wearing the same uniform as Reed and Johnny.
