I think the only online game I've really ever played for an extended amount of time (about two and a half years) was Yohoho Puzzle Pirates, although they have become very money minded in the last year and a half or two. It's really cute like Gaia, full of puzzles, but the atmosphere isn't as fun/friendly as it once was for me.

Here's the link if anyone wants to check it out: Yohoho Puzzle Pirates

Woo Hoo, I love Puzzle Pirates!

Black/Purple Scimitar...Yummy!
I pretty much stopped playing when the blockades came out, became too much like alot of other MMO's...I'f HAVE to log on when the Crew decided to engage and I can't abide that.

I'm rather shocked that someone else other than Ravendruid and I knew about it. What ocean did you play? We had been on for a year and a half and lost our net access within a week or two before blockades was released and right after I won an honerable mention (and a sloop) in Nemo's parrot painting contest on the forums. We didn't get back until a year later and it was weird feeling like some old fart always saying, "I remember when..."

There is so much of it that I miss, but knowing the memories of great crews can never be regained. Most of my time I spent being a docktart, originally on Alpha (Midnight) then later on Dragon's Nest (Cobalt). I think the creepiest thing after coming back was seeing how deserted Alpha had become, it was really depressing and the reason we moved to Cobalt. I loved to bilge, often joking about doing it in a corset (not an easy task!), and eventually went Paragon.

Towards the end it was really not being any fun anymore, just wanting to chat on the docks and having a slew of pirates coming through (most of them being ignorant teenagers) and adamantly telling me how worthless I was because I just 'stood around doing nothing' instead of sailing. Being in blockades was fun for a few times, but the whole entire economy is so royally screwed over that nothing works as it should anymore (or at least the last time I knew).

Damn, I forgot how much I miss pirates, even with the problems... crying Maybe I'll wander over there one of these days and either catch the bug, or walk away disgusted. Oh dang, I'd have to be a greenie again, UG! xd

These still makes me giggle:

I was on Alpha around 3 years ago.

I hated Bilging ugh! My favorite was Sailing and Gunning.
Not to mention giant, massive 50 on 50 Swordfights smile

I cannot remember the crew I was in, only that it was led by Thanatos.
I owned a Sloop and Cutter but hated taking people on them (I stunk at Sea Battle).

Just out of curiosity, who were you?

My sailing is getting better but I usually don't pay enough attention to it to do really well with my cascades, and gunning I go from despising to mildly hating it. I wish there was a way to do Nav without having to actually sail, but I guess that's when you take the bots out. pirate

I've caught me piratey bug again... Logged on yesterday to just have a look and found out that (at some point) the Ringers decided that if you had been a subscriber that your account isn't deleted so I still had my crew Ravendruid and I started last year (us and our alts are the only members), our 6 ships, and even my manor house. I was really blown away, I thought I had lost it all (again).

Only downside was when I was tarting on the docks and some girl 7 or 8 times kept spamming the chat circle with trying to sell some clothes and I (nicely) told her that I didn't want to buy them, I'd rather go to the stalls, and to quit spamming, and she blackspotted me! The greeter next to me said it was completely uncalled for. That is the only time in 4 years I've played that someone has done that! scream
