It wasn't much different outside the tavern. The sky was still blue, the clouds were still there, and the quaint little town was still far too quaint for Alex's liking. The whole thing sat uneasily in his stomach. Sure the food had been good, but the place itself seemed like it was stuck in a very old spot in time.
Still, that didn't mean he was going to think on it too much. He'd done that far too much, and now he was off to get answers. He spoke to himself on what he was going to do. "Ok, I go to the church, I see someone about showing up and all those colors, and I get back home before the bank repossesses my plane." That was the plan. A good one in Alex's mind anyways.
The church though was a bit of a walk into the town, and so it would take him maybe 10 minutes of wandering to get there. Maybe sooner, maybe longer. It didn't bother him, although he wasn't sure what others might think of his attire.
And so he was off, to see the folks at the church...

"Maybe I go to the church today" Said Marcus as he walked down the street. He never been to the church before, and since he was now done working with Jon for the day, he wants to go to someplace new today. Maybe it has good in there, he thought to himeself. But since he was daydreaming, he wasn't looking where he is going, and he bump into an person.

Alex was walking along, occasionally looking up over the roofs of the city towards the spires of the church. He was a bit ashamed to even consider the city he was in a city. Cities were supposed to be big.
Maybe thats why he missed spotting the kid who just walked into him. "Uh, oh, hey there. Better watch where you're going there, kid, or you might hurt someone."
He chuckled a bit, mostly because it distracted him from his usual thoughts. "So where are you going in such a rush?", the pilot inquired.

Marcus look at the man he bump into, and he saw that he is wearing clothes that are strange to him. "I'm going to the church," said Marcus, "I necer been to it, but I want to check it out? Do you know where it is?" Marcus know that the man wasn't from town, but maybe he knows where it is.

"The church? Thats where I'm going actually. Would have figured folks here would at least know their way around town though." He starts to walk off in the direction of the church though, "Its this away. I can see some of the spires over the roof tops."
He smiled a bit as he stretched out. "So going there to check it out? Well, thats sort of an odd thing to say. I'm going there to get some answers or at least try. Supposedly the folks there should be able to help me out."
The pilot thought a bit as he walked. "Whats your name, kid? I'm Alex Barrett."

"My name is Marcus Herring" said Marcus as he walked with the man. "What do you mean by to get some answers, and by your strange clothes, you not around here are you?" he said. He don't know if saying things like will offend him or not, but he is trying to make a first impression to this strange man.

The pilot shook his head. "No, I'm not local. I'm a bit far from home, it would seem." He didn't want to say all the stuff he had said earlier to Bones. Most likely the kid would think he was crazy or something, or at least, more crazy than the way Bones acted to him. No, just best to not give all the details away.
"But yes, I have to go there, see if I can't get some help getting home, or at least some directions. They're supposed to be able to help, at least thats what Bones said..."

"How far are you, Alex?" said Marcus, "Do you live on the other side of the country?"

Alex walked some as he pondered how to answer the question. "Something like that." Well, it wasn't exactly a lie, since he had no clue what the other side of the country was like, so maybe thats where 'home' was.
"You always this inquisitive with strangers?", he inquires. Perhaps it was the fact that his clothes were very distinctive and not very local that made folks wonder about him. The thought had crossed his mind anyways.

"Yes, I am" said Marcus. He looked around for the church, and he said "Are we near the church yet?"

Well, at least the kid was direct and to the point with his answers and questions. "I can see that." He looks back over the roof tops some and nods, "We're closer. Probably about halfway there, I'd guess anyways."
Alex walked along some, then looked over at Marcus. "So kid, shouldn't you be busy doing chores or tending some farm or something? Or at least attending school." It took him a second to realize that this place might not have any sort of formal education system. If that was true, shouldn't the kid be doing something as an apprentice then?

"I don't attend a school, in fact, I don't have a home to live in" said Marcus as he remeber some things in the past. "In fact, I have to do some work to live with somebody" he said as he remeber the work he had to do with Jon.

The pilot thought about the comments for a bit, not sure what to say. He'd known kids who worked. Sure, it wasn't a very 'American' thing but he was the owner of a small international cargo company. He had to deal with stuff he wasn't comfortable with at times. Plus, he figured it was probably the norm for kids to work, although why he wouldn't have family was a bit disconcerting. But it wasn't his place to pry into the kid's history.
"Looks like we're almost there", he said, mostly to break his thoughts away from where they had been.

"Great, I want to see what inside it" said Marcus wonder why this man talking about stuff he doesn't understand. "Are you sure you are from the other side of the country?" he said, questioning Alex's motives.

Alex looked back over to the kid as he walked. "Well, I'm from someplace a bit further away than that. At least I think it is." He honestly didn't know what else to tell Marcus. Telling him he was from a far away land full of cars and planes and paper money and ball point pens wouldn't be very easy for Marcus to understand.
As he walked up towards the church, he looked back to Marcus. "Ok, well, if you wanted to take a look around, try not to get in trouble. I need to find someone important to talk with or something."
