At the signing of the Guildpact, the Gruul guild was formed to keep civilization and nature in balance. Sort of like a big old Department of the Interior. Over the next 10 000 years, the other eight (nine) guilds expanded and constructed their way into an entire plane covered in cityscapes, and the Gruul were marginalized, their ward gone, and in following years they were unprotected by law, punished by lawmen, and enslaved by lawbreakers. Friggin' jerks.

Now we've come to take it back. We're gonna smash the cities, tear down society, and just generally take all our frustration out on every other guild. We're the downtrodden, we're the victims, we're the huddled masses yearning to breathe free. And these buildings are getting awful stuffy.

We the Gruul have no united leadership. Under the banner of Gruul are several clans, most notable of which are listed here.

-Burning-Tree Clan - These are the guys who never shut up about how great it used to be for the Gruul. Sure, they're right, and it gets the rank and file guys stirred up to go break more things, but if you ask me it represents way too great of an attachment to the past.

-Ghor Clan - The biggest achievement of the Ghor clan was producing Rauck-Chauv. Who was Rauck-Chauv? The first leader of the Ghor clan. Why was he significant? Because eight or nine times a year, in his honor, we celebrate a festival in his honor. It happens whenever any other guild is trying to do their own kind of celebration (too few whole roasted pigs and too much yap, yap, yap), so it's easy to remember when it is, and you pretty much just hit civilized jerks and smash things. Then we all go back home for whole roasted pig. Why does this have anything to do with Rauck-Chauv or the Ghor clan? Nobody remembers the unimportant stuff, nerd.

-Scab Clan - We Gruul are nothing if not 'open to everyone.' The Scab clan are the result of that, every other guild's tortured and cast-off remnants, their worn-out slaves, their unjustly imprisoned patriots. These guys are about as angry as it gets.
