Comrades, an important issue that has plagued government for most of written history is control (or the non-existence of) opposition. That is to say, what should a good nation do about opposition parties, the planning of marches, control of citizens, etc. Remember this- opposition isn't neccesarily good. An opposition party could be a communist party in the U.S. or a fascist party in the U.S., and it's hypocritical to defend one's rights over another's without resistence.

Should opposition be suppressed or allowed, and to what degree?

If your the ruling party then you should do as much as possible to keep the opposition to bare minimum at most because if you let it grow it could overthrow you and if you come down to harshly on them it could lead to riots so it could be a double edge sword but if it is not truly against you then you should let them prosper at least enough so their happy just dont let them get too powerfull

But what about us? In the U.S. we are an opposition group, the CPUSA, the ISO, the SWP, they are all socialist and communist opposition groups, who use the freedom we have to speak out. If we didn't have that freedom, communist groups would not exist.

i disagree freedom of speech or not i beleive that communist groups would still exist, which enhances my opinion that a ruling party should it not want to be displaced should keep oppsoition to a bare minimum at best i am not saying that they shouldnt allow free discussing of the subject but any real opposing party has the possibility to be the ruling parties downfall so they should keep the actual political parties as small as possible or kepp them from being created.
