To function well in the Extended Discussion, there are a couple things it pays to know. We'll try to write up concise summaries of these varying topics- in the meantime, feel free to ask questions, write your own informational threads, or chat in the chat forum (which is coming soon.) We're kind of by-the-forum-for-the-forum, so if you see a thread that interests you, volunteer to write it. If it's not present, suggest it, and then write it. That way, we all benefit from you knowledge.
A strike indicaties a topic has been written- topics in progress have their authors names next to them, so unclaimed and unfinished topics are easily visible. Here are the things we'll be getting to:
- Logic (Witt's got this one)
- A directory of major ED threads, to avoid posting repeats
- Extended Discussion ettiquette
- Finding citations, and spotting bias offhandedly in a source (mitoguard)
- Notation and shorthand
- Set Logic and Boolean System (lawtonfogle)
- Relevent Satire (AnarchoManiac)
- Determining the validity of a Wikipedia source (AnarchoManiac)
- Insult vs. Statement (writercxvii)
- Debate presentation (faolan)
- 'How not to get your a** kicked' (SouthernCross and Ythan)
- Directory of applicable guilds (Wishbone, if no one else lays claims)
- Directory of offsite guildmember hobby groups (PirateEire)
- Directory of offsite informational centers and citable resources (mitoguard?)
- ED citation form (mitoguard)
- Beginner guide to philosophy (Rookherst)
- Playing Devil's Advocate
- A subforum for fallacy topics
- How to keep your temper (Lord Setar)
- Seeing from the other point of view (InkRaven)

The question I'd pose is whether such a directory would be limited to our gaian activities, or if it would be all-encompassing -- for example, my High Minds guild would probably fall under the umbrella, but what about the LiveJournal community for Beatles fanfiction I mod? It has nothing to do with Gaia or the ED... should there be a criteria for what is recorded?
