I got stuck in MicroShaft land for a few days. (having Stability issues across all OS's). Anyway no that its fixed I decided to stick around and use XP with VirtualBox running Ubuntu Studio, FreeDOS, Freespire, SymphonyOS, NimbleX, and FC4. Until it loses its fun (i dont have to reboot or use WINE to play games) I think I'll stay with this setup (then I'll switch to cedgea or something to play games).

I was just wondering how many other users were using these Virtual Machine emulators.

I have used vitural box, VMware and M$'s bull s**t VM and I can say that VM ware has the best set of tools.I love vmware server. I was useing vmware server for school I had to do all my m$server 2k3 domain on it with xp clients. I also had to use it at school for my Linux class because of the fact the school didnt want us installing FC4 on the computeres. I don't use them much now, I don't have any need for them really. I have my ubuntu workstation/server and then there is my xp media center.

I have a VMware setup for windows 2000 that I use for dusting trojans and s**t that I collect on IRC to report it to the AV vendors, but other than that I have no reason to use a VM. No reason for me to use windows personally, all my stuff runs just peachy via linux and cedega/crossover as necessary.

I tried VM Ware but I don't think it is really a good alternative to a live cd although I've heard rumors that live cd's or a at least some leave crap on your hard drive

A Live CD will not leave anything on your PC you dont tell it to.

VMware and VirtualBox (and whatever M$ calls their version, which cannot run Linux) are great for a true test drive of an OS when compared to a Live CD since adding and removing of programs is possible and you can customize the settings to your usual ones.

BTW anyone got VB or VM working in Ubuntu 7.10 yet???

I'm a Mac OS X user, and use Qemu/Virtual Box/ VMware Fusion
Qemu is somewhat slow, but I still like it.
Virtual Box is a bit more buggy
VMware fusion... somehow I can't remember.

None of the above run Fedora 7 or the latest release of Ubuntu, for me at least.

Not necessarily hacking it, but testing its limits. he might be hacking it, he was doing some really shady stuff, lol. but i heard VMware and i thought it sounded familiar

Usually its the job of the security to look threw the programs code for problems and use their programs trying to find ways to hack it to create a security problem.

Oh well, thats a cool job anyways 3nodding

I never said he went through code. With the description I was given he could have done numerous things.
