Operation Hawk 23:15 September 17th Somewhere over the Barton Plains
Alright lads, listen up. This will be the first major sortie that us Mercenaries will be seeing action in. We have a few verterans in the ranks luckily, but I know there a many rookies flying along side us. Don't take advantage and scoop all the kills for yourself, they've got to make a living too. But also don't be too easy on them, after all, its your skill and determination that keeps putting food on your table.
Your mission: to shoot down as many fighters and cargo planes flying in the skies. Its a cowards work yes, shooting down unarmed cargo planes. But the contents of these planes, if they reach their destination, will be a devistating blow to ourselves and our allies.
We believe that these planes belong to the Winged Foxes, but we cannot be certain so far. If you do enough damage to their forces this time round, it means the next mission will be a whole lot easier.
The bounty score of 50 gold per plane shot down still stands, along with the 200 gold bonus.
Good luck.

Cruising at 5,000ft in his Corsair, Keiki open his canopy window openly slightly, allowing a blast of cold air to fill the cockpit. He shivered slightly, but he knew that when he was slightly cold, it was at his best performance. Plus also that in a dogfight he knew his cramped compartment soon becomes hot and sweltering, so he was making the most of being able to feel the coldness chill his viens, for everytime might be his last.

Swooping low through the trees, the Fw 190 skidded across the treetops, the propeller chipping now and again on the random branches that dared to emerge above the canopy. Looking out of the top of his cockpit, Charles peered at the sky above him. He could see a single small dot above him. Although he couldn't see whether it was friend or foe, his gut feeling [which most of the time was right] told him it was a friendly aircraft. He pulled back on the flight column gently, pushing lightly against the throttle as the plane began to increase in height. It would only be a minute before he would be flying along side the lone pilot.

Looking around the sky, he sighed and tapped his fingers against the throttle handle whilst rolling his neck around slowly. He was feeling slightly annoyed, as he was told earlier that the sky would have been filled with targets, some easy prey, some not. But, he couldn't even find any friendly planes in the area. He looked down at the map that was concealed in a small transparent pocket on his flight suit's leg. Running is finger down the map, he scanned the map for key features, then looked out of the canopy over his wing to try spot it. But, every time he located the feature on the map and on the landscape below him.

As he flew higher up into the sky, he kept peering above him at the plane above him. The minutes went by, the plane was getting closer and closer, larger and larger. It was soon that he realised from the silhouette of the aircraft that is was a Corsair. He instantly reconised it as being the same Corsair that was piloted by Keiki. He egerly kicked down the throttle and rapidly gained height, within an instant he was flying along side Keiki. Looking out of the cockpit, he turned to him and gave a distinct thumbs up.

Distracted by the object that he caught just on the edge of his vision, he turned to see Flanagan, giving him the thumbs up. He weakly smiled and rolled his wings lightly in response. Pulling the microphone down on his flying helmet, he spoke slowly and clearly into it.
"Iron Ram, surely we are coming up to the target soon?"

On hearing Keiki's voice, Flanagan also pulled his microphone on the side of his helmet and moved it so it was just grazing his lips. After flicking the intercom switch on, he too started speaking into it.
"Prima Facie, I'm not sure. The radar intercepted them at this location, and they shouldn't have gotten far away..Wait..There, on the horizon do you see that?"
He leaned forward slightly, spotting several dots on the horizon. It was difficult to spot at first, with the sun hindering his view. Suspecting it was the enemy, he pulled back on the control column, gently increasing his height.

Shading his eyes from the glaring rays of the sun, Keiki stared long and hard towards the sun, trying to spot the aircraft which Flanagan had mentioned only a few seconds ago. It took him while, but the, a small movement of a silhouette in the distance got his attention. It took him a few seconds for what he saw to sink in. A small swarm of black dots had begun descending from the relatively thin layer of cloud in the sky.
"Iron Ram, I have a visual. It looks like the enemy. Shall we engage?"

He paused for a moment, thinking on hearing Keiki's message. He knew that, after all, they were mercenaries with a job to do. But with so few planes on their side, he knew it would be a major task to stay alive against the enemy escorts, let alone shoot them done. He looked back over at his wingman's plane, then back at the enemy planes closing in.
"Mercenaries. Engage."

"Roger. Prima Facie, engaging."
With that, he turned sharply to the right, followed by a small barrel roll towards the enemy planes. Increasing rapidly in height, he kept crawling up through the skies untill the stalling point, where he kicked in the throttle to gain a little extra height. Leveling off at his new found height, he looked down below him. He saw the enemy planes growing larger as they came towards him, them looked down below as he saw Iron Ram diving several hundred feet. He knew what they were doing. They were going to carry out a classic pincer move. One fighter coming from above and below, which, according to the textbook, should cause the enemy formation to scatter.

 "Iron Ram, engaging."
After swooping into a deep dive, he level his Foker Wulfe at 2,500 feet and started the gut renching hurtle towards the closing enemy formation. He too, noticed that the his allied mercenary was planning out the same form of attack as he was. He chuckled lightly then opened up the intercom.
"Okay. Looks like you know what you are doing. Continue pincer attack."

Keiki looked out of his cockpit at the skies below him under his wing. He knew that just a few hundred feet beneath him, were the unsuspecting prey. Studing the formation which was now passing underneath him, he turned his plane inverted and dived down towards the nearest plane to him which was, as far as he knew, a enemy Dakota transport plane. As the distance between the two planes got closer, Keiki squeezed the trigger on his flight stick send a short sharp burst of lead towards the target. He cursed and pulled out of the dive as the hail of lead passed the Dakota harmlessly by a few feet. He thrusted the stick with considerable force, starting to line up his sights again. He wasn't going to give up that easily.
