The Hogwarts Express is a scarlet train, stunning against the stone of Platform 9 3/4. There is a walkway on the left side of the train, and the many separate compartments are on the right, each with a sliding door. Unless the people inside are whispering to one another, you can usually catch snippets of their conversation. You are able to leave your compartment door open or shut, depending on your preference. There are small bathrooms at the end of every other section of the train.
If you are talking to someone outside of the train, please post in both the Hogwarts Express thread and the Platform 9 3/4 thread.

Vladimir Dementia sat alone, opposite the closed door, in his own little airless compartment aboard the train, which was vacant save for him, his trunk, and caged pet hawk owl named Boot. He was sleeping soundly, and he had been for a while now, for he always arrived early to the station due to his overzealous grandfather, whose company he had been sharing in London now for the past two weeks of summer.
Boot let out an ear splitting screech, startling Vlad and causing him to fall to the floor with a thud. “Alright, alright I’ll let you out,” he announced, rising to his feet and dusting off his robes. He stepped over to the cage and opened its barred door to let him out. “Are you happy now, Boot?” The owl let out a hoot as he flew out of the cage, landing on Vlad’s head.
With Boot now quit, Vlad sat back down and fell back to sleep.

Megan walked into the car and looked around. She had never been in a train before and she felt a little scared. The car seemed to have no one in it, yet. She let out a sigh and walked to one of the compartments and saw a boy with his hawk owl. The boy was asleep and she didn't want to bother him. Walking to the next one, she wondered if he was going to be in the same House. Maybe they could become friends. The next compartment was empty and she entered, alone and afraid. Her owl was getting restless, so she closed the door to her compartment and let her out. After that, she sat down and looked out the window at all of the happy and excited people, wishing that she could join in with them.

Kali pulled her luggage in behind her. Along with the suitcase, there was also a larger bird cage covered up with a dark cloth. No noise came from behind the cloth, but Kali knew that her pets were merely sleeping. It was still morning after all.
She made her way to the back of the train, found an empty comartment, and sat down. She thought about what was to happen. Slytherine, the house of my parents. the only respectable house for a pureblood. She scoffed. If she ended up in Slytherin or not, who cared? Not her. She waited for the train to leave.

“So… Where are we going to sit?” She looked at Neal for a moment, hoping for him to respond to her unasked question of ‘is he sitting with us.’ “I say we sit up front.” She pushed past the siblings and turned down the narrow hallway of the second train. It was the closest to the front they could get, seeing as how the first car housed the prefects. She chose the compartment third from the front and pulled it opened, making her way into the empty room. The Hogwarts Express reminded her of the buses she use to ride to school back when she was still considered a muggle. The front seats are almost always empty, and the back are filled to busting. She plopped herself next to the window, facing the front of the train. “Are you going to join us, Neal?” She asked after she saw Edith’s head.
