Admittedly, he could have picked any of the other students to help with the second lesson, but he was leery of working with a Sith just yet, and Jiri Yim had caught his curiosity and refused to let go, so it was her he went looking for as the class for the second lesson broke apart. It took him a minute to figure out what way she'd gone, though he jogged after to catch up with her. "Hey!" He called, not quite sure how to address her or if he'd otherwise botch her name. She said she didn't actually speak their language, maybe her name didn't sound anything like it sounded like it did? ...Oh that made sense. "Hey...um. Do you want to try the second lesson with me? You can say no..."

The tizowyrm translated the word "hey" as "a not-correlating call for attention, addressing you." Jiri paused and turned around just in time to hear the boy's invitation. She recognized him - the other Jedi initiate, the one with the tattoo and the dreadlocks. Korvo, wasn't it? She inclined her head slightly, considering it, and then replied in oddly-accented basic.
"I wouldn't mind trying it with you."
"Your name's Korvo Vos, right? I'm Jiri Yim."

He grinned as she accepted his invitation to practice, visibly relaxing. "I thought I heard your name. You can just call me Korvo. Vos is my clan." He offered, wondering if it was similar for her. "...Is it ok if I ask you a question?" He followed up, still remembering her odd statement from the Council room. Interesting accent, he hadn't heard it before. Actually he had a lot of questions now that he thought about it, but he didn't want to make her stomp off.

The tizowyrm translated clan as being in similar meaning to domain. A family group, all using the same name.
"I guess you could say Yim is my 'clan'," she shrugged, "Though my people use 'Domain.' And we use the full name."
An inquiry of possibly personal nature, the tizowyrm told her in response to his next statement. Jiri nodded. "You can ask me. What?"

"I was just sort of wondering..." He rubbed the back of his neck selfconsiously. "If you really can't speak basic...how come we can understand you? Domain? That was an interesting term, he wondered why they used that. It seemed so...impersonal. "...It's not really a big deal I was just curious. I mean there's translator droids but I didn't see a droid walking around with you and I don't know..."

"It's not a droid," twittered Jiri, ignoring the Tizowyrm's indignant protests. "We don't use them." She was trying to be impartial, but it was difficult. She knew that her people had once destroyed droids upon their initial arrival in the galaxy, but the practice had been outlawed and phased out. However, she knew about droids because the government medics had them at their center and they were terribly impersonal and cold creatures that she felt some ire for.
"It's a Tizowyrm," she explained, her accent making the word sound truly alien. "They're traditional Yuuzhan Vong symbiotes. They're universal language translators, though I don't know how they work." She pointed to her left ear. "It just sort of stays there."
"You wanted to work on the lesson?" she asked, suddenly a little impatient. She didn't want this to turn into a debate about the pros and cons of Yuuzhan Vong biotechnology as her mother had said it could. Jiri wasn't stupid, or at least she didn't think she was. She'd been educated thoroughly about the general galactic hatred for her people, even if most of its citizens had never even seen a Yuuzhan Vong, and she knew how sour the conversation could turn.

"REALLY?" Korvo's eyes widened in awe at the idea that there was anything like a tizzoworm in the universe. He'd heard a few things about the Yuzong Vong, but they were curently largely displaced with the facination of something so novel as a translating -worm-. "Thats amazing" Did it talk? he wondered, tilting his head breifly as though he were going to try and actually look for said worm, then straightening up again as she reminded him, impatiently, about the lesson. "Um. Yes. Sorry. My aunt says I ask too many questions. I don't ask too many questions do I? I try not to but..." He cleared his throat again. "Yeah. The lesson. Right..."

Jiri nodded impartially. His reaction had been better than she had hoped, so maybe this wasn't so hopeless. "You did the first lesson okay, right?" she asked, remembering her own odd experiences with it. "Or did you sense anything odd while you were trying to do what they asked us to?"
Maybe she wasn't alone in that respect. She certainly hoped she wasn't.
"We're supposed to access the force together, aren't we? For the next lesson?"

"I...think so." He admitted hesitantly, embarassed. "I don't think it was telemetry... it didn't feel like telemetry.... but.... " He shuffled slightly, afraid someone would tell him he'd do it wrong. "...You had trouble too?" He asked, then continued. "Yeah, that was what they asked. Which I guess means we'd really know if I was doing it wrong, right?" He laughed nervously, picking at his shirt sleeve.

"I learned a little at home," said Jiri, sitting back against the nearest large stone, "But when I tried it here I found void." She frowned, still having no explanation for the experience, and then changed the subject. "In all the stories, when the Jeedai team up they're even stronger."
"Did you ever have stories like those?" She asked. She basically knew the Jeedai Heresy her bedtime stories came from was unique to the Yuuzhan Vong, but she'd always wondered if other species hadn't noticed how infinitely amazing the Jeedai were and had stories about them as well.

"I've heard some." He admitted. "I guess it makes sense if you think about it? One stone is strong..." He noted, nudging one with his toe. "But if you put a lot together you have a wall." He paused for a second and then shrugged. "I didn't make that up. One of my uncles did." He hadn't missed her comment on the void, but was dwelling on it, then after a further pause shook his head. "I didn't find a void...I had trouble concentrating...but I didn't see a void. Maybe we can figure it out?" He offered, trying to figure out why she would have felt void. Maybe it was different because they were different species? "I had a hard time being sure if it wasn't my telemetry... because it felt like memories a little bit. Do Yuuzhan Vong have telemetry? Maybe it's something you can do that makes it do that?" He offered this out as he picked a seat himself, prodding somewhat absently at stones himself. Void.... if the force was like water, were the voids like stones in the river? Or were they just that? Voids. Strange to picture what that must be like.

Jiri shook her head. She wasn't quite sure what telemetry was, but knew that the Yuuzhan Vong sure didn't have it. "No, they haven't got anything," she said, "Or shouldn't. I'm a bit odd for my people."
If she had tried to describe it, it was like instead of being connected she had been cut off. But it wasn't worth pondering, because that would undoubtedly lead to feeling it again.
"Which stories have you heard?"

"I know the ones about Quinlan Vos the best." He admited. "He was a Kiffar too." He noted, by way of explaining his facination with the particular Jedi. "Odd doesn't mean bad..." He offered. "Not all Kiffar can do telemetry, and some of us do it better than others...but it's good if you can. I just don't do always do that well at it." He rested his chin on his hands in concideration. "What about you? What stories do you know?" Granted they weren't getting to the exersize very fast, but he was curious.

Jiri had never even heard of Quinlan Vos, but figured he might as well be a distant relative of Korvo's who was embroiled in all this Jeedai business, just like her mother liked to say Nen Yim was a distant cousin of hers, several times removed. "The Ganner?" she said, "The One-Who-Was-Shaped?" (A particular favorite of Jiri's.) "The Solos? The Skywalkers?" She shrugged. "Maybe not. Mother says they're Jeedai Heresy and most other people don't particularly care."
"I'd like to hear your stories later, but maybe we should start on the lesson now?"

"Solo's and Skywalkers! I've heard some about them!" He noted, perking up that he did, in fact, know some of her storys. "They were humans I think." He considered. "Yeah you're probably right. I wonder how this is going to work." He also wondered what happen if she contacted that 'void' while they were trying to connect. How would that affect them?
